[META] Who is u/thefairyofapproval? Our newest Bot Mod.

• Upvotes

Howdy folks!

I would like to introduce you to our newest Mod Bot. thefairyofapproval.

Do you hate not being able to edit your posts for fear of the dreaded "Removed by Reddit" tag?

Well fear not, u/thefairyofapproval is here to bestow upon you the gift of approval when that happens.

We hope...

This bot is in beta and was hard at work rescuing posts today. Five of you may never have even known your posts were buzzsawed by Reddit.

Here are some caveats:

  1. It may take about a minute for u/thefairyofapproval to show up and rescue you, so you may see a moment of downtime.

  2. The fairy can only rescue posts that have a proper proof picture added to imgur.com or coindex.app. If you want to use one of those other even shoddier services, you will not be rescued. The fairy is a snob like that.

  3. Reddit could make changes at any time so this may not work forever. Reach out if your post goes down, but for the time being, please try editing your posts again to see if it works.

I worked really hard on this code and it took me over a month of experimenting with various things to get to this working beta. Please edit your posts again to see if this bot works. No guarantees, but if you all are seeing a high success rate of staying in the feed, then we will bring this bot out of Beta. And if not, I have logs I can look through to see where the errors may be and we will keep at it.

Down with the dreaded filter, long live u/thefairyofapproval!

[META] Shipping, Responsibility, and Risk FAQ

Hello all you metal stackers/collectors,

tl;dr - nope, this is too important, you are going to need to read and understand it.

It seems our last attempt to clarify shipping and liability sparked more confusion than clarity. So let’s fix that.

Let us get one thing perfectly clear. We are not here to dick-tate the terms of your private sale.

However, we are here to make sure some things get discussed in negotiating that sale. Too many sales have happened under the silent assumption that the buyer automatically eats 100% of the risk once a package is dropped off. Nowhere in our rules does it state that. For a great many, liability and risk were not really discussed much at all in the sale negotiation process. Lets make it part of the process.

We also wanted to address what we consider to be properly packaged metal and be very clear that improper metal packaging will place 100% of the liability for lost, stolen, or damaged shipments on the seller. We cannot control the post office, but we can make it damn hard for them to steal the shiny and damn easy for them to deliver.

/------------------------

Do I have to take 50% liability for my shipped packages?

No. But you must have the discussion of liability with each and every person you transact with or simply accept the default 50/50 liability. Editable disclaimers in your posts are not enough. Have the discussion in your chat and come to agreement. We do recommend persistent messages to ensure your chat stays intact.

/------------------------

Do I have to offer insurance or registered mail?

No, offering insurance or registered mail is not required.

We think it's a great idea for large purchases, but not a requirement.

The terms you and your buyer agree to in your negotiations will be the terms of the sale. Don't feel like discussing liability? 50/50 is not a bad thing and will be assumed if dispute resolution is needed.

For smaller sales, if insurance or registered mail doesn’t make sense, that’s fine — as long as both sides agree in chat about who carries the shipping risk. Absent an agreement, the 50/50 default is assumed.

/------------------------

Do I need a disclaimer in my post?

No. They are not binding because they are editable. Your deal made in chat is the way. But, if you want to let your buyers know where your head is at when it comes to a deal a disclaimer makes a lot of sense.

/------------------------

Why can't I use a bubble mailer?

You can. Our shipping guidelines were misinterpreted and will be updated in the final wiki guide.

A PAPER bubble mailer was meant to be an example of flimsy packaging.

Ultimately proper packaging should not be flimsy or easily torn open. There are some bubble mailers that are completely bullet-proof and a great choice. Padded Flat Rate Mailers are a great outer package and often used and will continue to be a great choice.

Here are some questions to ask yourself when packaging:

  1. Does it jingle or rattle?
  2. Can this be opened and contents removed a few minutes or less without tools?
  3. Will it survive getting wet?
  4. Does it scream "steal me?"
  5. Is this packaged in a way that protects the contents from being damaged?
  6. Did I include an inner label and make sure the outer one won’t smear or fade?

/------------------------

Can I be held liable for a package that shows up empty even if my buyer agreed to full liability?

Yes, if you didn't properly package the metal and you didn't get your buyer to agree to a poorly packaged shipment then you are 100% responsible.

Best practice: send a photo of your packed box and label in chat, have the buyer confirm it looks good and the address is correct, then ship.

/------------------------

When is a package officially "accepted" by USPS?

If you have a clerk at the counter scan your package on the scale and provide you a receipt, it is immediately "accepted" by the USPS for insurance and liability purposes. This method is highly recommended!

Using a kiosk or dropping it in a provided bin is a bit less than ideal. It does not officially scan a package as "accepted" and does not provide a weight for you at drop-off. It is possible to scan a label and never drop the package in the bin.

After a kiosk or bin drop-off, the next scan that shows up in tracking is the "acceptance" scan. A seller who uses a kiosk or drop bin is 100% liable until that first "acceptance" scan. After that, negotiated terms are in play.

/------------------------

Does "delivered" always mean delivered? And the scammers will win now

Nope.

We can (and often do) verify with USPS tracking data — package weights, photos, even GPS logs — to figure out what really happened. You can do this too with the right postal contact.

Does it always work? No.

Does it work most of the time? Yep — about 99%.

If it turns out a porch pirate swiped it, that’s 100% buyer liability.

Have scammers been caught? You bet. Some are facing federal investigations of mail fraud right now.

We do not recommend refunds as a result of dispute resolution until this internal tracking investigation is complete.

/------------------------

What does this mean for ship first deals?

These guidelines are the same for a ship first deal. It is expected that the shipper will properly package and document their package (you vets in the trenches would be well-advised to offer help and packing advice).

It is also expected that a negotiation of liability takes place in the chat. In absence of a negotiated deal, the 50/50 split responsibility rule is in full effect.

/------------------------

Who takes responsibility in a middlman assisted deal?

The middlemen are required to provide you terms for using their service. The terms the middleman, buyer, and seller agree to will take precedence in these sales. A Middleman is fully expected to follow packaging guidelines as part of this process.

/------------------------

What happens if something goes wrong with a shipment?

Ultimately, just like your sale, if both parties are able to resolve this in a mutually agreeable way, mods are not going to step in and stop you. If mutual agreement cannot be reached then we are available to help. If sub rules are found to be broken it can lead to consequences on a case by case basis as well as negative or neutral feedback.

Happy Stacking!

I reserve the right to adjust prices with dramatic moves in spot price.

I am open to offers to combo deals or if you find a better comp.

[WTS] Geiger, Dos Pesos, LMU Gold, Half Sovereign, Japanese Koban, Samurai Gold and Silver

Proof https://imgur.com/a/xn8LC6g

I provide insurance and/or signature confirmation at your request and cost. I am responsible for getting your package scanned by USPS; once it has been scanned you are liable for the package. You will need to confirm this in chat — full T&C at bottom.

Raw World Gold

Photos

  • 1977 Isle of Man Half Sovereign – $510
  • 1875 Belgium 20 Francs – $755
  • 1875 German 10 Mark – $500

Graded Gold

Photos

  • 1786-D France 2 Louis d'Or – PCGS Genuine, Cleaned, UNC Detail – Gad-363, No Dot, 1st Sem.
  • 1945-Mo Mexico 2 Pesos – PCGS MS66 – Modern Restrike – PCGS TrueView – $285
  • 1945-Mo Mexico 2 Pesos – PCGS MS67 – Modern Restrike – PCGS TrueView – $335

Foreign Silver & Bullion

Photos

  • 1807 Peru 8 Reales, Lima Mint – $105
  • 50 gram Silver Geiger Bar – $155

New Morgans

Photos

  • 2021-CC Morgan Dollar – Vault Box – NGC MS69
  • 1879-S Morgan Dollar – BU PL – Video – $155

Japanese Coins

Photos

Japanese Gold

  • Bunsei Koban (1819–28) – PCGS AU Details, Cleaned – PCGS TrueView – $2350
  • Tenpo 2 Shu (1832–58) – AU – $140
    • Approx. 1.64 g, approx. 30% gold / 70% silver.
  • Man'en 2 Shu (1860–69) – AU+ – $110
    • Approx. 0.75 g, approx. 23% gold / 77% silver. These are the thinnest gold coins of the Edo period.

Japanese Silver

  • Tenpo Mameita-gin (1837–58) – $55
    • Mameita-gin ("bean plate silver") are small, irregular, hand-cast silver pieces from the Edo period. They were used as small change and paid out by weight rather than by a stamped face value.
  • 4 x Ansei Bu (1859–68) – AU – $52 each
  • 6 x Kaei Shu (1853–65) – $22 each

Payment

New users generally must use Zelle and may not be permitted to purchase expensive items.

Accepted: Zelle, CashApp, Venmo FF, PPFF — Venmo GS is NOT accepted. For certain items I reserve the right to only accept Zelle and require a minimum number of prior transactions.

Shipping

I will not ship outside the US.

  • Shipping starts at $13 for a small flat rate box.
  • Ground Advantage in a padded mailer available on request — $7–9 for packages up to 1 lb. Note: mailers are less secure than boxes.
  • All packages are scanned at the kiosk and dropped in the bin. The kiosk provides a receipt and packages are typically scanned by the PO the same day.
  • For insured/expensive shipments, my insurance requires my address on the inner package — I cannot add a second shipping label to the inner package unless you opt for uninsured shipping.
  • Signature confirmation: $4 (included free with insurance).

Unless explicitly agreed otherwise, I am not liable for packages lost by USPS if you agree to have them: (1) sent in a padded mailer, (2) scanned via kiosk, and/or (3) declined full insurance coverage. Please acknowledge that you agree to these terms in chat.

Insurance

  • $10 for the first $500 of coverage (or any portion thereof)
  • $0.50 per additional $100

Coverage is through Hugh Wood. If a package is lost in transit I will do everything I can to help file a claim, but I will not provide a replacement or refund if insurance was not purchased. Insurance is contingent on the insurer paying out.

Insurance does not cover porch pirates. If you don't have a secure delivery location, please request signature confirmation.

Zen and Ego became despondent living in the mod dungeon banning scammers all the time. But then they heard about the legend of the Scammer Hoarde that was supposed to be hidden 100 levels down in the dungeon. So they sharpened their hammers and set out on an epic adventure to search out the great hoarde and bring it back to it's rightful owners.

Upon reaching the hoarde they found it was guarded by three dragons. And after a great battle that lasted thirty days and thirty nights they slayed the dragons and brought back the hoarde and shards of dragon scales made of pure silver. Own a piece of the historic battle today!

All but one of the pieces is about 1.5oz. There is one that is 1.75oz. They cost just $69 $67 per oz.

Most importantly, GA SHIPPING is free!

1880 PCGS MS63 Morgan, toning, some colors, the opposite of blast white. $120

1883 PCGS MS63 Morgan. CRUSTY. Wonder how clean it us under the gunk! $110

1885-O PCGS MS64 OGH. If blast white is your thing, this is your coin. Flashy. $125

1890-CC AG03 Morgan, because we gotta have a CC here. Lowball. This thing lived a life. $200

1892-S NGC VF20, tough date, dark colors: $SOLD

1926-D NGC XF45. Odd grade for this common coin, made up for by beautiful dark color: $75

1934-D Net AU55 ANACS Soapbox 1934-D Quarter. The slab is a cool throwback and has lots going on. Important to interpret at the time for ANACS, the "net" grade is already discounting for the cleaning. Greysheet bid on straight AU50 is $85. You be the judge. $70

1963 PCGS MS64 Frankin: Great color on this one! $45

Cable Car Centennial .925 Token. Sigma tested, 1 oz. Cool design! $50

ASE: 2000-P PCGS PR70DCAM Silver Eagle - because it's iconic, it's an awesome date and hard to find: $250 (greysheet bid)

1/10 Gold - Bill Murray/The Chive. Rounding it out with one of the weirdest lots. $500

Shipping: GA is FREE! Priority SFRB available at cost.

Payment: Venmo, Zelle may be required if low flair.
