Checkup weight gain?

• Upvotes

Gained a little bit of weight ~6 lbs by week 12 but haven’t gained any new weight from week 12 to 17. Is that normal? Should I bring it up to my OB, going in for my monthly ultrasound tomorrow.

Help? FTM and anxious about exposing every part of my body in the hospital

• Upvotes

I’d like to preface that I get that its natural and people shouldnt feel embarrassed and I’m really happy for people that can do that but I find that I’m just not that kind of person and generally more conservative… in fact, the whole birthing process actually scares me.

I’m 32 weeks today and I’ve started to prepare for when it actually happens. I’ve been reading about how the general birth experience is for others and I would just like advice on the following

- Breastfeeding in hospital: How to keep myself a bit more covered? I heard nurses and midwives cant care less if you’re exposed and feeding and would just go in your room anytime. That feels a bit too much for me. I’ve seen people recommend bringing robes but logically if you need to feed then your chest is exposed right? Are nursing covers more practical or should I opt for nursing tops with flaps?

- Clothes during labor: I understand people usually wear hospital gowns, some do it completely without, or some strip it off during the process. Can you wear a bra/nursing bra under the gown? What did you end up wearing when you delivered your baby?

- Clothes during contractions: When preparing for the actual birth I usually see people wear just the hospital gown. I assume during this time you have normal underwear inside? Or are we already wearing disposables?

Help? FTM 14 weeks pregnant help! Am I feeling flutters?

I know my doctor said 12-16 weeks I can start feeling flutters. Can someone confirm or deny my feelings? It was very strange and didn’t feel like gas stuck or anything like that. I’m very in tune with my body and I can feel a things internally a lot even before pregnancy.

The feeling I’m feeling is almost like tickles or maybe even twitches feeling right above my pubic bone more towards the right side but it’s like so random. It started at about 13 weeks. I was waking up my hubby saying this feels weird and I’ve never felt this before. It only happened a couple times. Now that I’m 14 weeks I feel like it’s happening a little more frequent and I can only feel it when I’m relaxed in bed. It only happens for a a few minutes not consistent but random surges within those few minutes. Then goes away for a while and then it’ll happen again. Please explain to me if I’m feeling my baby. I’m really hopeful that I am.

Help? OB won’t see me from 39 weeks until 41 weeks

I’m 39 weeks and just had an OB appointment but they won’t be seeing me again until 41 weeks? She’s out of town and I’m just confused why they’re going 2 weeks until I see them again. Is this normal? Is this a big deal? I’m not high risk for reference.

Rant/Vent Just need to vent

I have suffered from terrible heartburn this whole pregnancy. This past Sunday it got so bad nothing helped, not even my prescription medicine for it.
Fast forward to Monday, I barely slept bc of the heartburn and I also woke up with a sore throat. So to try to help that I went and got a medicine ball tea. Bad idea. The lemonade in the tea made my heartburn worse and I threw up. So I go home and I throw up again and can hardly sleep because it burns so bad and sleeping sitting straight up is not comfortable.
Then I have a breakdown because Google said that I could have preeclampsia and to take this seriously. I’m also crying bc I feel bad taking meds at all while pregnant but I have no choice due to the leg cramps and body aches I’m getting.
Took my last pto day today, the Pepcid finally worked so I slept like all day but now my burps are coming back and I’m scared I’m going to throw up again.
I also have a terrible cough, body chills on and off and aches.

Sorry just need to vent because I feel miserable with no way out of this it feels like.

Rant/Vent Baby’s due date is close to a parent’s birthday- not on the best terms with them

My baby’s due date is a day before one of my parents’ birthdays- a parent that I’ve had many issues with my whole life. I’m currently not really talking to them because they have basically abandoned me many times and have done it again. They know about baby and haven’t expressed interest or checked in. I’m now 39 weeks and haven’t heard from that parent except a “happy birthday”.

Anyway, my other parent (my parents have been divorced my whole life) is adamant not to have baby on my absent parent’s birthday. It’s so annoying and I have zero control over that. I’m trying to stay positive but wtaf don’t put that negativity on me and my baby. I’m just so tired of my family and everything at this moment. I’m so angry.

Funny Belly button popping

(from photo taken at 10 weeks)

My bellybutton popped today and it kinda freaked me out... I have a snug innie so it’s actually much deeper than it looks (I can make marbles completely vanish lol). Can anyone with a similar bellybutton type to mine tell me if it goes back to normal postpartum?? Or does it look permanently different?

I literally watched it happen too... My innie was still hanging on well into my third trimester. But today (at 31 weeks) I took a deep breath when I was brushing my teeth and watched in the mirror as my bellybutton turned completely inside out! Eeewww….like was so not ready for that. It’s so weird when you have a deep innie cos you've never seen what's inside. I can kinda push it back in but it very much wants to be a full outie now!

Do you get your old bellybutton back?

(I know this sounds so silly but I really hadn’t thought about it until it popped today. I have done nothing all day but stare in horror at my new outie)

Help? Hospital bags!!!!

FTM - 35+2, starting to get reallll! I am a typical over-packer for trips and I really do not want to do that with the hospital bags.

It will be cold where I am when I give birth if that matters for packing.

What all should I pack for myself and baby? Not pack? Absolute must haves?

I am not breastfeeding due to previous cancer 2 years ago. So I won’t need a pump or anything related to BF.

Help? Babylist Guest Registry Mistake

We had put two infant car seats (compatible with a stroller/travel system that we wanted/ended up getting at the shower) on our registry and two convertible car seats (when baby upgrades sizes) for both of our cars for bigger items as we had a lot of higher ticket items already for baby (crib, monitors, bouncers) so we felt it was appropriate to add all of these as we have a lot of people who would love to buy bigger practical gifts. All 4 car seats were actually one of the first things purchased from my registry well over a month before the shower… or so I thought. There were 3 people who went in and bought the 2 infant car seats but they actually only got 1. So since they marked both as purchased no one else was able to buy the second car seat. This mainly upsets me due to the fact I know someone else would have gotten the other car seat (some people even mentioned to my mom all the “expensive” gifts were taken a few weeks ago when they went to purchase something). Now we have to either buy the second on our own or use one of the convertible seats for infant but it is not compatible with the travel system/stroller we got. I’m sure it wasn’t on purpose they marked both as purchased but their mistake just cost us $200+.

Has anyone else had this happen for a gift you asked for multiple of? User error or Babylist website glitch? Not sure exactly how it happened as I believe once you purchase one it will specify that “1 of 2 needed” afterwards?? We had no issues with 2 separate people getting the other car seats.

Birth info The Unthinkable Happened : 2nd Update

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

I posted in December of 2024 regarding a car accident when I was 29 weeks pregnant with our first and t-boned by another driver, resulting in 5 emergency surgeries, kept sedated for almost 2 days and woke up to a sobbing husband who had to explain we had lost our son, Maverick.

I posted again early this year, explaining how I had lost myself in the greif, basically forced my husband to grieve our son on his own while I tried to find the right balance of numbing myself while not killing myself by abusing opiates, bottling it up and hiding from the big, unpredictable, unforgiving world. I finally saw a hint of a light, got some help, got sober, got well and got pregnant again.

Of course, there is more to the story. A woman who was only charged with a traffic citation, car insurance refusing to acknowledge a life was lost, a husband who was determined to love me - despite my best efforts, a brother who went to our house and stripped it of all of his lost nephews items for our sanity before we got home, a woundvac opening so large we could see through the plastic to my insides where Maverick used to be for weeks.

Indignation, pain, rage, resentment, fear, loneliness, aggrieved, a few other choice words - all wrapped up in one accident that would change who we were, at our core, forever.

UPDATE :

Wylde, Maverick's little brother, was born both happy and healthy in a calm, unremarkable C-section in late July - 3.5 weeks early.

We are over the moon!

At the same time, we are haunted by the anxiety and PTSD that is still very real. We struggle with postpartum anxiety along with the normal stress that comes along with bringing home a baby. I believe all good parents feel a need to keep their children safe. So you buckle them up, you teach them their address and to look both ways before crossing the street.

But for me, because of the history, I just have this deep-seated need to try and keep him safe of the unknown. Yes, the world is big and scary, but it's also incredibly unpredictable - which is the scariest part. Realistically we all know there is only so much we can do. Believe me, I know that. But it doesn't take away my want or need. My worry. My anxiety.

So I go to therapy.

I meet with a psychiatrist.

I love my husband steady and relentlessly, like he did me.

And we love both of our boys to the moon and back.

Thank will of you beautiful people for being so supportive.

Help? 34 weeks pregnant and have been taking lifeblood heart and soil. Did anyone else take it during their pregnancy and was their baby okay?

I have low iron and wanted to try taking beef organs instead. However now I’m reading about too much retinal vitamin A and am starting to panic if I overdid it on that. Please help.

Funny And my initial prenatal visit cost is…

Obviously this is a major error. We are going in for an ultrasound and a visit with the doctor and were quoted $450 two weeks ago for self pay. Still didn’t take away the heart attack I had when I first saw it though!

Help? Need some help on a stroller system

Hi all.

Yes - I think I am thinking about this way too much. But my husband and I are expecting our first baby in January.

For our car seat, this was an easy decision for us and we went with the Pipa aire RX.

I am indecisive of what I what in a stroller. I originally thought I wanted the Nuna Triv, which is a fantastic stroller. However, I am nervous about needing a bassinet and am struggling with the 500 dollar price tag for something that I really won’t use at home and will only be used out. I still really do like the TRIV and it makes sense with our lifestyle. We did try to the Mixx and while I don’t strongly dislike it, it certainly is more bulky.

We did try the UppaBaby Vista V3 and Cruz and i strongly dislike these strollers. We live in a larger apartment and that stroller is massive, would take up most of the trunk of my Rav 4. Felt like neither of them would fit our needs and truthfully felt too difficult to maneuver around with it. The Vista V3 felt like it was going to fall apart with the hinge snap to keep the stroller locked when folded. It also was very difficult for me to unhook due to how tight it was. I just know I would hate these strollers.

My main concern seems to be needing a bassinet and what we should do regarding this. I’ve tried to find the Triv bassinet on Facebook Marketplace without success. Have tried other websites as well without success and that just makes me feel like I will not be able to find it for a good price.

Have now been looking at other options such as the Silvercross and Cybex as at least these do come with bassinets and they seem to be more readily available.

Need some advice. I’m trying to finish my registry and my family wants to be helpful and buy us the things we want. However, I think I’m making this more difficult than it needs to be and I am simply getting fatigued from the choices.

Thank you in advance!!

Rant/Vent Feeling annoyed 37+4

A little annoyed today I went in for my 37+4 apt (STM) hoping for a VBAC.

I could have sworn something was happening with the cramping, constant BH, feeling nauseous, loose stool, severe pelvic pain for her to do a cervical check and tell me I’m still pretty posterior, medium and not very dialed maybe a small finger - she did a sweep and some of my mucas plus came out but MY GOD I thought I was for sure doing some dilating etc.

Anyone else been in this position and when did labour happen? I know I’m still early.

Help? Nursing chair recommendations?

Im looking for a nursing chair and there are just so many to choose from, all online, and all high priced. im willing to spend the money on a good quality chair, i just dont know where to start as it doesnt seem like i can try too many of them in person first. I am looking for an electric power recliner, swivel and rocker that is ideally fabric for those cold nights. i also wouldnt mind it being wider since i like to sit crossed legs.

Any nursing chairs that you highly recommend and had a great experience with?

New here How do you get through that weird void post positive test?

Hey all! I just tested positive this past Friday and I’m 4w5d and my first appointment isn’t until next Friday. I feel like I’m in this weird void where I know that I’m pregnant but it hasn’t actually sunk in yet because nothing has changed.
Apart from my boobs hurting (the reason I even tested) I have no symptoms. Obviously I’m not showing yet. And I don’t know if I’ll be getting an ultrasound next week because it’ll still be early, so I won’t be able to see to believe. I can’t even really talk about it with people because it’s so early. I just feel weird.

Help? TW: Molar Pregnancy at 8 weeks??

so i’m 8 weeks pregnant and had my first prenatal appointment to have an ultrasound and bloodwork. turns out during my ultrasound “something was wrong“ i was told i had an “abnormal pregnancy“ and the tech told me it wouldn't develop. i go back into a room and go over questions and then my mid wife comes. mid wife comes and explains that she thinks it’s molar. did my blood work and have to be back later this week and then schedule a dnc if it is molar. this is my first pregnancy and i’m 23 years old… is this normal? i’m so heartbroken and shocked. my hubby is completely devastated too. i called my pastor and let them know. i have no idea if it’s complete or partial. tbh in my heart im praying they are wrong and im about to have all my levels back normal and blood work normal and redo my ultrasound and have it as a normal one…. is this just me??
