I've got an old HP Compaq 8200 Elite AIO I refurbished and am going to be selling. Given it's low specs (i5-2400S, 4GB DDR3) I decided to turn it into a XP machine rather than upgrade it to run modern Windows. I got Windows XP Professional SP3 (32-bit) installed via a CD I burned
I grabbed chipset drivers, graphics drivers, and sound drivers. Chipset drivers installed just fine, the audio drivers caused the system to no longer boot into Windows so I uninstalled them through safe mode. Graphics drivers required .NET Framework so I grabbed version 4.0 from Microsoft's website and that installed no problem along with the graphics drivers. I then tried installing the audio drivers again and it worked without issue that time
So far I've installed Mount & Blade: Warband from a GOG installer (still showed XP support on the store page at time of download) and that played without issue. I've also installed F.E.A.R from a physical copy and that installed DirectX 9.0c and it also plays fine (I won't be selling the machine with games installed to be clear)
I assume there are of course going to be some games that'll require certain dependencies I don't have installed yet. Looking at the quick start guide software page the only other thing I can see that is essential is Visual C++ Redistributables. I'll also grab the latest DirectX version which is 9.0c June 2010. Please let me know if I'm missing anything, thanks

Hi everyone, I'm new here!
I'm getting into retro virtualization and emulation. I have a 13-inch MacBook Pro (Retina, Early 2015, Model A1502 - Intel Mac).
Previously, I used Boot Camp with Windows 10, but I rarely used it because rebooting back and forth from macOS was annoying. So, I decided to switch to virtual machines.
Currently, I'm using VMware Fusion and running Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 7. For the most part, Windows 98, 2000, and XP run ridiculously fast and smooth. However, I'm running into a few specific issues:
After browsing around retro pcs posts, I saw a lot of people recommending 86Box. Since my Mac uses an Intel CPU, UTM isn't really an option for me. I downloaded 86Box, but I'm completely lost on how to use it or configure it properly.
My questions for the community:
Any advice, driver recommendations, or setup guides would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Me and my girlfriend are trying to install xp pro sp3 in our old laptop. Its already installed, but when trying to log in it says we need to use the phone method to activate it, but when we click to start it says is already active. It keeps on this loop and we don't know what to do anymore (already tried the setupoobebnk, nothing changed).

Hi everyone!
I have an old HP Compaq Presario V2000 running Windows XP, and I want to recover and transfer the photos and files stored on it to my current laptop.
Unfortunately, the USB ports on the old laptop aren't working, so I can't simply connect a USB drive and copy everything over.
