Discussion With Wednesday's FED rate decision & Alphabet / Microsoft earnings, what are your strategies for this week?
This week seems significant and could shape sentiment across both stocks and broader markets
- Wednesday: Alphabet, Microsoft earnings
- Thursday: Amazon, Intel, Sandisk earnings / U.S. PCE Inflation & GDP Data
- Friday: Bank of Japan Rate Decision
Regards, please weigh in with your strategies. I'd assume standard buy high sell low remains, but open to other ideas as well

Discussion Intel just dropped a massive $2.3B hardware acquisition after the bell
Intel just announced a definitive agreement to buy Classiq for $2.3 billion to expand their physical chip foundry business and hardware infrastructure stack.
Everyone seems exhausted by overvalued software companies burning billions on apps with zero actual profit. This massive cash drop proves that big money is starting to look past pure code and rotate straight back into physical semiconductor assets.
Intel reports earnings this Thursday night and they are going to have to lay out the commercial roadmap for this new hardware layout on the call. Are we finally seeing capital rotate permanently away from software and back into physical tech?

Discussion Here is the actual meaningful part of Anthropic's S-1, >$850B of expenditure commitments, pages 170-171
Between pages 170-171 and what you find in the notes they disclose around $855B already committed, if you add everything together. That's excluding some things that aren't fixed (like their AMD Helios spend, some additional TPU compute), otherwise that would reach above $1T.
And page 161:
Our increasing efforts to build out our compute and infrastructure require substantial capital expenditures and are changing the cash flow profile of our business. Whereas the compute purchased through our CSP arrangements is generally paid as the compute becomes available to us, we expect an increasing portion of our compute and infrastructure investment to take the form of capital expenditures and other commitments, including lease obligations, that require significant upfront payments well in advance of the related compute becoming operational. We expect our capital expenditures to increase significantly as we expand our build-out, and we expect these investments to result in significant net cash used in operating and investing activities for the foreseeable future. Our net cash used in these activities may increase regardless of whether our financial performance improves.
So they expect to increase their capex massively in the near future, in addition to their existing commitments (and they say they will keep signing new deals).
Their 2025-2026 financial statements aren't too meaningful given they plan to shift to high capex spending (also, their Q3 is a significant revenue slow down)
