Hey guys, I had a question about how R’Web registration works and also how some Media and Cultural Studies classes work.

I’m trying to create a term plan and two classes I need have a very small overlap. One of them is an online screening section for an MCS class. Is the screening actually like a Zoom call where everyone watches the movie together or is it just a placeholder where you can just watch the movie any time during the week?

Also, will R’Web completely prevent me from enrolling in classes because of the slight overlap? It would suck if that’s the case so I want to be prepared. There aren’t other screening sections for the class with screenings.

What are my options here? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

We need your help this afternoon, and all it takes is a laptop. The fair board that runs the Lake Perris Fairgrounds meets today at 4pm, and public comment is open to anyone on Zoom. The fairgrounds is state land that belongs to all of us in Riverside County, students included.

What’s going on:

• In August the board (the 46th DAA, home of the Southern California Fair) signed a nonbinding agreement with Global Stack for an edge data center, a parking garage and a helipad on about five acres next to Lake Perris. It could lead to a lease of up to 100 years. That’s longer than any of us will be around.
• The fairgrounds is outside city limits, so city bans can’t touch it. Perris voted 5-0 to ban data centers, and that ban stops at the fairgrounds. The fair board is the only one that can end the agreement, and it can do that with 30 days’ notice.
• Ventura’s fair board already ended its agreement with the same company, and Santa Barbara’s Earl Warren Showgrounds said no too.

I’m trying to drop a class that is putting too much stress on me and not sure if dropping this class and ending up having 8 units (which is not full time anymore) this quarter will reduce my financial aid for winter and spring quarter
