For Hire personal assistant/house manager/odd jobs!

hi all!

i am moving from nashville, tn to raleigh at the start of november. i'm from high point, nc originally so i have a few connections already but wanted to post here in hopes of finding more specific job boards and recommendations.

my most relevant experience is my role in hospitality, front of house in fine dining as well as nationally ranked bars. i don't want to necessarily stay working in restaurants which is why i am looking for a role more personal such as a PA or house manager. i also love a more physical job (12 hours a day running around has ruined my attention span lol) and i would be open to that.

we are moving for my partners job, and while a job for me isn't necessarily top of mind, i do enjoy being busy and want my own income. any advice is welcome, TIA!

Other Worst place for new jobs right now

This morning, I was trying to figure out why the career fair was canceled , and they said they moved it by a whole month, which doesn't help a lot of people. I've been unemployed for a few months now. But I know others are probably way worse off than me. So I looked up to see how many people signed up to go to the career fair.

46,800 people in two weeks sign up to come to the career fair for a job. That is a whole city of people! So I just wanna write this letting others know that if you do get a job , you are a very lucky person , because right now , this area is having too many layoffs or too many people coming to it. I can't imagine what employers are doing with the job applications that are coming in. I also feel that there is way too many fake applications to apply to online. If there was that many people willing to show up to a building for a couple hours, how many applications are there online applying to those positions that are flooding out the 1-3 people they need to hire. Also some of these open job positions are open way too long in my opinion and should be only open for like a week.

For Hire [For Hire] UNC senior looking for part-time work, will show up and work hard

Hey all! I’m a 21 yr old senior at UNC studying economics/PPE and I’m looking for a part-time job for the rest of the school year.

Quick backstory: I want to start my own company someday. The “what” and “how” are still a work in progress but the mindset is there. Right now I’m in the learning phase of talking to as many founders and business owners as I can, soaking up whatever they’re willing to teach me, and building the skills I’ll need when I actually go for it. Unfortunately, it turns out “learning from people” is not an accepted form of payment for rent. Hence this post.

What you’d get with me:

  • I’m easy to talk to and get along with pretty much anyone. I helped get a student org off the ground and ran recruiting for it, which was basically a year of talking to strangers.
  • I show up. If I say I’ll be there, I’m there.
  • I've done some freelance paid content work for a few tech companies. So if you’re a small business that could use help with social media, I can pitch in there too.
  • I’m not picky. Front desk, retail, admin, helping out a small business owner with whatever, I’m down. I pick things up fast.
  • I have 2 yrs of food service experience and 1 yr working with kids. I'm also decently technical.

I’m looking for around 20 hours a week, and I’m flexible with time as most of my courses are online. I have a car, can start whenever, and am open to pretty much everything.

If you’re hiring or know someone who is, shoot me a DM. And if you own a business around here and just want to chat, I’d honestly love that too. Thanks for reading!

For Hire Opportunities

Hi everyone! I recently moved to Durham from Pittsburgh, PA, and I’m currently looking for a full-time job. I previously worked as a bank teller and really enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, I didn’t have many opportunities to advance, but I’d love to continue growing my career in banking or another financial position.
I’m currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in accounting, and since my classes are fully asynchronous, I have the flexibility to work full-time.
If anyone has recommendations, knows of any companies hiring, or has advice on where to look, I’d really appreciate the help! Thank you so much! 😊

For Hire For Hire: Human Resources PHR (Compliance / Generalist / Management)

Hey Folks,

I wrote here exactly 92 days ago about my husband being laid off and looking work. We haven’t had anything pan out but got a few leads here last time. He has 5 years in Human Resources Experience plus a BS in Psychology/ Management/ Society from UNC-CH and his PHR. He has done work on federal audits, worked with compliance for disabled individuals, and has recruiting experience.

He has gotten about a dozen 1st round interviews and 4 second round interviews with no offers, all with the same feedback—there has been someone more experienced than him. He has applied to over 600+ applications to the point he is running into the issue of jobs reposting and him not able to apply because he applied months ago. It’s been a real kick in the face and I know he is not the only one in this boat. He’s open to contract work, remote, on-site within 40 miles of Raleigh, or hybrid.

Unemployment is about to run out. He will be finding a part-time gig but we have to work around for childcare as our 6 month old is at home with me while I’ll work— we can’t afford childcare with him out of work but we make too much money to qualify for assistance. Any assistance or leads you may have would be greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Other City of Raleigh Expo and Job Fair not that interested in hiring

Ok so I guess I went in with unrealistic expectations of what this event was going to be and that’s on me but come on. The first two departments I spoke to were the Attorneys Office and Internal Auditing. Both told me they weren’t hiring. I then spoke to Community Housing and they also told me they weren’t hiring. The two women representing that department were wonderful and told me to talk to parks and rec because maybe they were hiring part time. The parks and rec people were very friendly and told me about part time positions to look out for. The only people that I spoke to who seemed interested in hiring full time was Waste management but even then they just ask you for your email so you can be notified if they have any openings. I get that these are city employees who have to be there and I appreciate that they were willing to answer questions about their departments but it’s kind of hard to ask questions when they don’t actually seem that interested in hiring people.

EDIT: The company decided they need a Warehouse Manager instead. I've listed that role here!

Happy fall y'all (finally!)! We're helping a local, family-owned construction company hire a Warehouse Operator to load construction materials from the Raleigh warehouse into the truck, drive the truck to the construction site, and unload them once there. This role will also operate the forklift within the warehouse and help with other daily warehouse operations tasks like inventory management / inspecting shipments.

  • Requirements: Candidates should have a high school diploma / GED, a valid driver's license + clean driving record, and some warehouse or inventory management experience. Strong priority will be given to candidates with a forklift certification.

  • Schedule details: M-F 8-5 with occassional opportunities for overtime.

  • Location: The warehouse is located in west Raleigh, and construction sites this role would deliver to would be in the Triangle metro area.

  • Work details: This is a full time position with benefits. Although the target hourly rate is $19, the client has been very receptive to candidate requests for $20-$21/hr. so please still apply if you're qualified and your target is slightly above $19!

For Hire Looking for a sales job

Hi! I’m 23, based in Raleigh, and recently graduated from App State with a degree in Communication. My long-term goal is to build a career in medical sales, but I understand that breaking into the industry can take time, and I’m open to start in a related sales role where I can learn, gain experience, and prove myself.
I’m a very hard worker who is highly motivated, coachable, punctual, personable, and confident. I’m not afraid of rejection, and I’m willing to put in the work to get results.
I’d love to hear from anyone working in medical sales, pharmaceutical sales, medical device sales, or another sales field who might have advice, recommendations, or leads on entry-level opportunities in the Raleigh area.
Thank you!!
