We looked at 3,518 open job postings across 81 companies' public Greenhouse boards, covering seven job categories. The goal was simple: find out which keywords employers actually use.
A few findings stood out.
We also noticed a pattern across roles: employers often described the practice rather than naming a specific tool. Observability came up where you might expect Grafana, and SIEM where you might expect Splunk.
What does this mean for your resume?
If you're listing tools but leaving out the responsibilities, practices, and skills explicitly mentioned in the job description, you could be missing relevant keywords.
That doesn't mean stuffing your resume with buzzwords. It means describing your actual experience using language that matches the role you're applying for.
One important caveat: the sample leans heavily toward tech companies and uses a single ATS platform, so these results aren't representative of every employer.
The full study, including findings for sales, cybersecurity, DevOps, and accounting, is here:

He has experience in welding + fabrication (Tig is not his strong suit), and he has entry level maintenance experience (he is willing to learn how to acquire skills in electricity/HVAC/Etc. if the job is able to train him on it). Hi everyone!
I'm a recent(ish) UNCC grad with a major in business admin and a minor in finance. I took the first crappy finance job that came my way out of college and quickly discovered it was not for me.
I'm in the application process, but with the job market so saturated, it feels impossible to even land an interview at the moment. I have a part-time job currently, but it's not meeting my income needs.
Does anyone know where there are opportunities in online assistant work? I am highly skilled in multiple computer programs. I hold multiple certifications in every Microsoft product. Also skilled in photo and video editing. I also have experience with IT and computer building.
To be clear, I'm not looking for any handouts!! I'm just looking for advice as to where I can look for opportunities!
Please PM me with any answers or feedback!

Iām struggling to understand something. On LinkedIn, Truist seems to be posting tons of open roles, daily in fact. Iāve applied to several over the last 2-3 months, and like clockwork Iāve gotten a rejection within 24hours.
I applied to one last night (req posted yesterday), and I had Claude do some sleuthing. It told me that even though the role was posted, it was already āclosedā. Suggested I reach out to a recruiter on Linked in to verify it was legit.
Can anyone help me understand what the deal is?
