DISCUSSION Any news or theories about the Aegis Tiburon’s future upgrades and the turret-slaving glitch?

Hey everyone!
I’ve been wondering about a few things regarding the Aegis Tiburon, and I’d like to hear from anyone who has more information, theories, or experience with the ship.

PDCs or automated turrets: Is there any chance the Tiburon will eventually receive point-defense cannons or some kind of automated turret system?

Possible dual S7 cannons: There’s a section or extra space on the side of the ship that makes me wonder whether it could be intended for a dual S7 cannon setup or another weapon configuration in the future. Has anyone noticed anything suggesting this, or is there any official information about it?

The turret-slaving glitch: Does anyone know if the old glitch that allowed the pilot to use all the Tiburon’s turrets simultaneously still works in the current patch? Has anyone managed to reproduce it recently, or has it been completely fixed?

I’m especially interested in recent player reports, datamined information, developer comments, or anything that could shed some light on these questions.
I’m not claiming any of this is confirmed. I’m just curious about the Tiburon’s potential and whether anyone has discovered something interesting.

Thanks!

DISCUSSION Question About the Future of In-Game Purchased Ships

Hey guys! Sorry if I'm missing something, or if this has been answered before elsewhere. I'm new to the game and to Reddit, but I have a question that I couldn't seem to find an answer to by googling, looking on the RSI website, or searching here on this subreddit.

My question is this: how will ship insurance work for ships purchased with UEC when the game releases? Will those ships be able to be lost forever without insurance, and will insurance be a huge cost?

Let me clear some things up first. I know that ships can be lost between patches and updates and whatnot. I'm not really worried about that. I get that the game is in early access and whatnot, and that sort of thing won't really happen quite the same way when it's finally fully released. Also, I know that all ships have some level of automatic insurance until full release. As a newbie, I've made use of that an embarrassing number of times. I'm asking exclusively about the future.

Now, I'm asking because, when the game releases, I want to grind up to getting an 890 Jump. I like the Space Titanic feel of it-the biggest and nicest passenger transport ship in the 'verse-but I don't want to grind tens of millions of UEC just to lose it all by crashing when I'm tired. I also don't want to grind millions of UEC constantly to keep the insurance paid, and just have the financial freedom to fart around without constantly focusing on making cash.

I totally understand if there isn't a concrete answer to this yet. I'm fine with a speculative answer, or even an "I don't know," if anyone bothers with this at all, or if the mods don't tell me to remove my post for some reason or another (frankly, one of the reasons I don't use reddit much; each time I post, someone tells me I'm not allowed to for some reason or another, though often their concerns are somewhat warranted).

Again, sorry if this has already been answered! I really don't mean to clog the subreddit up, but I couldn't find an answer anywhere. If anyone chooses to answer this, thank you!

DISCUSSION Missile prices don't make sense!

I don't get why my clipper costs more to rearm my missiles then my mk5 Connie! I'm assuming it's the size 3s on the clipper I'm guessing I might want to change it to all size 2 and 1s

DISCUSSION AI Blades, and what on earth that is going to look like.

I was thinking about AI blades and how CIG says that they don't want them to replace players. The ideas for having worse aim, to me, sounds silly. A computer tracking system is likely going to be more accurate than a human.

So, what do computers use? Power. What do they give off as a byproduct? Heat.

I think those two things are potentially a way to balance AI blades so we don't have a deluge of solo Idris' and Persues' camping the OM's when AI blades come to the game soon(tm)

Maybe give them 2 categories

1 blade per turret (PDC's are excluded)

- Mil Spec blades: Tracks whatever you have targeted, costs 2 power pips per turret to run
- Civ Spec blades: Targets anything in its firing arc. Costs a single pip to run.

Both options eat into a ships cooling economy, so you cannot simply power off a cooler to run full power.

Additionally, the aim assist could be tied to how much radar power you have allocated, as well as what radar you have equipped.

In essence, a ship can be ran solo, but it will be objectively less powerful than a crewed version. The nice thing is that it doesn't completely negate having a friend join in either - the turrets you want crewed (main guns) are the costliest to run automated, and the highest reward to have crewed. (also arguably the most fun to fire)

Thoughts? Hateful comments? Lemme know.

There’s been talk of poop mechanics in SC for years, and this was a pretty silly but funny article about survival games that for some reason have poop mechanics. Figured we could all do with a laugh today.

QUESTION Any news on vehicle fabricators?

Tried googling a bit to see if there was any updates on when ship fabricators are expected to start working, but came up empty.

Has there been any update from CIG on this?

DISCUSSION New Pledge Policy

Hello everybody,
I just stumbled upon this new policy recently and don’t really know what to do. I’ve relied on melting my ship to try others for years. I’ve pledged for the Gladiator as an upgrade to my freelancer (which was already becoming a bit dated) in 2019 and it sat untouched by the devs for 6 more years until it finally got 2 paints. If I didn’t have the ability to melt my only game package, I would have been stuck with a useless, dated, and often completely broken ship that never even got the luxury of a loaner it was so forgotten. I now have the gladiator again because Ive been trying out the bomb racks. What am I meant to do if they forget about it again? Am I stuck with the gladiator unless I fork over more of my cash? I feel like this change disproportionately affects longer time backers who have spent in small increments on a primary package. I just don’t know if I trust CIG to not just mk 2 my ship then leave me out to dry with my ancient ship that’s outperformed by cheaper, newer ships. Is anyone else in a similarly position with this change? What problem is it meant to actually solve?

DISCUSSION Longtime backer since 2016. How are we genuinely feeling about the state of Star Citizen today?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I've been backing Star Citizen since 2016, and I've actually been following its development since the earliest crowdfunding days. It's been quite the journey, to say the least.

Over the years, I've had some of my most memorable gaming experiences in the verse. I've met some genuinely incredible people, along with some of the most bizarre and hilarious characters imaginable. A few years ago, I invested in a dual Gladiator joystick setup, and it completely transformed the experience for me. There's honestly nothing quite like flying through space with a proper HOTAS/HOSAS setup.

That being said, I haven't really played since Pyro was released.

I still follow the development, browse this subreddit, and occasionally check out what's happening in the community. But I keep seeing such a mixed reception. Some people seem genuinely excited about the progress, while others sound more frustrated and exhausted than ever.

And that brings me to why I'm posting.

How are you genuinely feeling about the current state of Star Citizen?

With Squadron 42 potentially arriving in early 2027, I'm cautiously optimistic about what that could mean for Star Citizen's future. Part of me really hopes we're finally approaching a point where the pieces start coming together.

Most of my old crew have moved on for now, deciding to wait until the game is closer to release. And while I completely understand that decision, I keep getting this persistent itch to jump back into the cockpit.

The biggest obstacle for me has always been playing solo. Star Citizen, at least in my experience, truly shines when you're sharing adventures with other people. The spontaneous encounters, the ridiculous situations, the unexpected friendships. That's what made me fall in love with the game in the first place.

So I'm curious to hear from those of you who are still actively playing, especially fellow longtime backers.

Does the game feel like it's moving in the right direction? Is there enough meaningful content to keep you engaged? And perhaps most importantly, are you still having fun?

I'm not looking to start another argument between passionate supporters and frustrated skeptics. I think both perspectives are completely valid, and I'd genuinely love to hear from both sides.

At the end of the day, I still believe in the vision of Star Citizen. I just miss the feeling of being part of that universe.

See you in the verse, o7

DISCUSSION When/Why did you back star citizen?

I’ll start I’m an original backer used to watch those game showcases saw the pitch and backed for 100 dollars. I didn’t even have a of capable of playing till around 2016 and since then I’ve been playing every year since. I’ve since became an evo and getting to see stuff early has been one of the best things for me as I backed this game for the tech they were showing back then. So yeah what’s your reason? Not good at making polls so sorry for the bad choices

DISCUSSION This is why I hate the skybox

Post image
• Upvotes

How many patterns of the exact same two stars do you see repeated at various opacities, orientations, or configurations here?

The *entire* skybox is like this is *all three systems*.

When folks rail against the skybox, it is for a reason. It is, single-handedly, the worst art asset of any space game I've ever encountered.

X-wing had a more believable and immersive skybox than this.

Can we *please* have the old sky box back. Tint it a color if you have too. This is absolutely ruining all the good work the planet team is doing in making the game look good.

TECHNICAL Is star citizen stable rn?

After the disaster of a stream they had not long ago, I am assuming they are actually working on fixing the game. How is that going? Is it a good time to get back into the game rn? Or should I wait?

By stable I mean can I play for a few hours doing any of the content without experiencing any bugs that require a relog, or anything that will reset progress, etc.
