Bike Photos Specialized Tarmac sl9
The SL9 rides amazingly well! Just completed my first longer ride (4 hours) with the Tarmac today. The fit is dialed in – I might remove one 10mm spacer before finally cutting the steerer tube, and then the Rapide cockpit goes on. For now, it's pretty much complete.

Crack? New Crux Build - Carbon Defect, Should I Send it Back?
Hey All, I am building up a new Crux 5 10r frame and went to install the bottom bracket when I noticed something. A tiny chip in the carbon at the bb. It looks as though the carbon is delaminated in that spot or is almost splintered, BUT it's not a part of the actual frame. I've included a photo as well. Do you think this is a big deal and should be returned or not?

NBD NBD: 2004(?) Allez Comp - Could use your help learning more about it
Hello everyone - I've recently been buying a handful of older bikes from the 70's - 90's, pretty much whatever I think looks cool. I've tried to only get one of each of the different brands to monkey around with them, learn a few things, and generally pick up a hobby that I've found is full of genuinely good people at my co-op. I went into my local Goodwill and saw this bike and saw this bike sitting there, and figured for $40 I couldn't get hurt even if nothing worked.
I could use your help learning a bit more about it though. I can't find a serial number on it other than A21000607 faintly stamped onto the bottom shell. AI says it is between 2003-2005, and the brifters are a bit scraped up so they're hard to identify which model they are. While this bike is old, it's far newer than anything I've worked on so far.
Any thoughts, tips, pointers you have for working on a bike like this are appreciated. My local co-op doesn't open for another couple of days so I'm reaching out to you guys in the meantime. Thanks!
Edit to add: I think it is all original but the seat

Bike Photos Would like to learn more about this frameset
I got this off a gentleman for $5 and he had filed the dropouts and had it set up single speed. If anyone's got any stories lore or thoughts on it I'd love to hear it. I have an 87 hard rock set up 3x7 As well but don't know a lot about the 90s frames. From what I can tell it's a 94 and was built in 93 based off the code on the bb. Much love and hope everyone's having a good day/night!

Which Bike? Sirrus X 3.0/2.0 or Rockhopper comp?
Hey there. Im looking for a new bike and I landed in here.
Im torn between getting either the sirrus or the rockhopper comp from specialized, but I dont know which one would be the best for my use case.
I talked to a local shop and they only talked to me about the rockhopper but im just finding out about the sirrus.
I will mostly ride in the city to go to work and work out (the pavement in some places kind of sucks but not all of it), but I sometimes like to go on trails (maybe 5% of the time tbh, maybe even less).
Which option do you think is the best?

Fitting Help 2020 Specialized Venge Pro size 54 for 175 cm?
Hey guys, I’m looking at buying a used 2020 Specialized Venge Pro in size 54. I’m 175 cm tall and relatively new to cycling.
My eventual goal is a full Ironman. I know the Venge isn’t a TT bike, but I love the bike and plan on using it for most of my training and potentially racing it.
I’m currently riding my dad’s bike, which isn’t fitted to me and gives me some wrist discomfort, so I want to make sure I get the sizing right this time.
Would a 54 Venge be a good starting point for my height? What other measurements would you need from me to get a better idea?
Thanks!

Tech Help Levo 2 SL - solar generator?
I have a Ford Maverick truck that has an outlet that is 12 V and it’s bed. It will not charge my specialized Levo bike, because I believe the battery pack for the Levo is 24 V.
Can anybody confirm that the power pack for the e-bikes are 24 V for the specialized SL 2 Levo?
And if so, what is the best portable solar generator I can get for when I take long trips and I need to charge my e-bike?

Tech Help Need help with fork fitting
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have no experience building bikes before. I bought a 2011 Sworks Tarmac Sl3 to have a project bike to just make a fixie build. It came with no fork and I got a roubaix sl3 fact carbon fork. I got it because I thought I had the right measurements. The bearing that came with the frame is bigger than the crown race seat and the bearing that came with the fork is good on the fork but doesn't fit snug inside of the frame. Also I believe that the fork and the frame are rubbing against each other when I tried fitting the fork with a bearing.

Price Check Is this S-Works Tarmac SL6 worth $3,500?
I’m considering buying a Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL6 disc with SRAM RED AXS and Roval Alpinst wheels listed for $3,500 and want to make sure it’s a good deal before pulling the trigger.
Issue is not many bikes around me in my size and very few options been scouring the market and this one popped up recently and wanted any thoughts on if it’s worth it or to look else where.
*Photos didn’t upload correctly and are now in comments.

Which Bike? Used SL8 pro or new SL9 s level
Shopping for my first road bike. I am aware that it may seem odd to punch up so high for a first bike but I’m generally a buy once cry once person for items like this. That said I’m also not married to the idea of needing new, and on things that depreciate like a bike going used often equals value. I just picked up a new MTB recently and went used but it was aluminum frame so I was less worried about down stream issues carbon could have.
I see some lightly used SL8s out there, including a pro model near me that is set for 6500 which I’d assume I could negotiate down a bit.
If I’m looking correctly at the SL9 line up it seems like the S level is what gets you comparable or slight better options. It rings it at 10k though.
At that variance is it worth it just to have the warranty of a new bike? I assume either bike is far better than what I’ll need or be able to utilize.
Thanks in advance for advice

Tech Help New Sirrus X 5.0 (2026) Brake Upgrade from MT200 to M8110
I received my bike in the mail a couple of days ago.
I upgraded the drivetrain to Shimano GRX as soon as I received the bike so I could use my existing wheelsets with Shimano Micro Spline freehubs. I wanted to avoid mixing and matching the Prowheel crankset, SunRace cassette, and KMC chain.
I took the bike out for a spin and immediately noticed that the brakes felt weak. I weigh 190 lbs and like to ride relatively fast on flats and descents (25–28 mph). I prefer having good braking performance, and I’m probably spoiled by the better brakes on my other bikes.
I was going to hold off on upgrading the brakes since I had already upgraded the drivetrain, but it looks like I might need to upgrade them too, smh.
I took a closer look and noticed that the bike came with BR-UR300 calipers. However, Specialized’s website lists BR-MT200 brakes in the specs. I assume the BR-UR300s were installed because they’re flat-mount calipers. I’m not sure there’s a noticeable difference in braking performance between the two, but the discrepancy in the listed specs still seems like false advertising to me.
Anyway, I’d appreciate some help verifying my parts list for a brake upgrade. This will be my first time doing this, and I want to make sure I get the right parts rather than waste time and money ordering incompatible components.
Here’s what I’m planning to buy:
A. 2 × Shimano BR-M8110 calipers with resin pads — $158
B. 2 × Shimano SM-BH90-SS 1700 mm hose kits — $52
C. Shimano hydraulic MTB brake bleed kit with mineral oil — $22
D. Hydraulic hose tool with cutter and needle driver — $30
E. Shimano Caliper Adapter Front BR-RS505: $20
F. Rotors: I’m planning to keep the stock rotors for now, but I’ll probably upgrade them eventually.
Total estimated cost before tax: $282
Can anyone with experience upgrading Shimano hydraulic brakes confirm whether I’ve picked the right parts? I’d especially appreciate any advice on compatibility with the existing brake levers and rotors, or anything else I might be overlooking.
Thanks in advance!

Crack? Crack on my 2022 Specialized Diverge frame – anyone experienced something similar?
Hey everyone!
I’ve been riding my Specialized Diverge since I bought it brand new in 2022. I’ve always been really happy with the bike, but recently I noticed a small crack on the inside of the frame, right where the seat stay meets the seat tube.
I took it to an authorized Specialized dealer to have it checked out, but they quickly told me it was just a crack in the paint and nothing to worry about.
Of course, I hope they’re right, but I was a bit disappointed with how easily they dismissed my concerns. Especially considering the location of the crack, right at a junction where quite a bit of stress is transferred through the frame. I would have expected a more thorough inspection before ruling out any structural damage.
One of the reasons I originally chose Specialized was their lifetime frame warranty, so I’m also wondering how they handle situations like this.
I’ve attached a few pictures of the crack. Has anyone seen something similar on their Diverge or another Specialized frame? And does anyone have experience with Specialized’s lifetime warranty process?
Curious to hear what you guys think!
Cheers!
