Is this athlete's foot?
I had athlete's foot since elementary until high school after having to walk on flood water because of a flash flood and i was outside playing then. It was really bad during that time. It started with moist skin in between toes and really really itchy feeling then suddenly blisters appeared. I remember getting bullied because whenever i'd take my shoes off, they'll say it smells like a rat just died. I was prescribed to use triderm which got rid of it although it left my the back of my toes looking pink like there's no extra layer of skin although not sensitive and also did not hurt or smell. For three years, i thought it was already gone.
Suddenly on my first year of college, i noticed that my socks started smelling like before again. I used anti fungal soap but i don't know if it did anything. Sometimes it would flake off really bad but most of the time it's just really dry. Unlike before when it's a bit moist in between toes. For two years again, i've been enduring this. Recently my shoes smell strongly of the same odor as before but then when i smell my feet, it doesn't really smell like anything. However when i cut off toenails, there's a hint of that smell again. I feel so insecure now and embarrassed. I think my classmates in college are starting to notice.
One of my friend even told me something like she does not want her feet to smell like dead rat so she's not gonna wash it immediately after we walked (it's a thing in our culture to redt your feet first before taking a shower if you walk for too long or else it would smell bad). I was so taken aback because why would she say that out of nowhere while we were walking. She also asked me something like why my feet are like this although i didn't hear the other stuff she said. I just thought at first, maybe it's the way my nails grow sideways but now, looking back maybe it isnt.
I seriously don't know what to do. It's so hard to book an appointment in my city because public dermstology clinics are only open during really early morning. I have classes for the whole week so i can't schedule. I just want to know what to do with this and how i can clean my shoes thoroughly.
Right now, it doesn't itch or anything. It just feels too dry and a bit hot too. It's like i need to hydrate the skin or what.
