CW: Euthanasia Downey, California - urgently foster or adopter and rescue needed (out of state possible) Oso loves people, but tomorrow morning (10/28) the shelter will euthanize him. Pls dm us or email: Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com if you can help

Right now, nobody is fighting for him.

Oso #A5802648 is 2 yrs old & 86 pounds.

A beautiful German Shepherd who was surrendered by his family because they became overwhelmed with a young GSD & could no longer manage him.

Now he is at Downey ACC, past his deadline & scheduled to be euthanized.

And sitting in a kennel OUT OF PUBLIC VIEW.

HE IS INVISIBLE.

Nobody is networking or sharing him.

And tomorrow morning, HIS LIFE WILL BE OVER, IF NO HELP COMES IMMEDIATELY.

Oso doesn’t understand why the people he loved surrendered him.
He doesn’t know that he may never leave this shelter alive.

He just needs someone to give him a chance.

OSO NEEDS HELP BEFORE TOMORROW MORNING.

Can you foster, rescue or responsibly adopt Oso?

Please comment below and dm us or email: Isabeldesiree8@gmail.com

 Behavior Notes:
(please take into consideration that many dogs will be extremely scared & defensive during a behavior assessment & will not show their true self until they are in a safe environment.)
Oso greeted the runner with a relaxed body & a soft tail wag. He sniffed & licked the runner’s hand & allowed the runner to pet him through the kennel door. He was easy to leash & remove from the kennel, pulled strongly on leash while bypassing the other kennels & was easy to collar. In the catch pen his body was tense, his eyes were focused with a hard stare & he barked & growled at the other dogs. He was muzzled prior to entering the yard. He entered the yard & greeted the other dogs with a tense body. He hovered over them, lunged & tried to fight. He was hard to steer & would not break his focus on the other dog. He was moved to the side yard but remained focused on the dogs in the main yard. The handler was able to use the leash to guide him to the middle of the yard for the assessment. He allowed the handler to pet his whole body while maintaining a neutral body. Oso is offensive with the other dogs & has a medium energy level. Rescue Only with KHOA

Adoption/Foster Plea Looking for a loving home or reputable rescue for our 3-year-old French Bulldog – Roanoke, VA

Hi everyone!

This is an incredibly difficult post for me to make, but my husband and I are exploring options for rehoming our 3-year-old French Bulldog, Frankie.

Frankie is genuinely the sweetest, most affectionate boy. He has such a big personality and an even bigger heart. He loves his rubber toys, going on walks, playing, cuddling, and especially finding a sunny spot to lie in. He is incredibly loving and has brought so much happiness into our lives.

Unfortunately, we've had a difficult year financially when it comes to his medical care. Back in June, Frankie accidentally swallowed part of a fabric toy and required emergency veterinary treatment. We had only recently finished paying off that expense when he developed bladder stones, requiring surgery that has left us with approximately $5,000 in additional veterinary debt.

He underwent surgery on October 21st to remove the bladder stones and was also neutered during the procedure. Thankfully, he is recovering well and is scheduled to have his sutures removed on November 2nd.

We are still waiting for the results of his bladder stone analysis to help determine what type of stones he developed, what may have caused them, and what preventative care he might need moving forward. He is currently on a veterinary-prescribed urinary diet, although we don't yet know whether that will be a lifelong requirement. He is also currently taking medications as part of his recovery.
Outside of these recent medical issues, Frankie has been a happy, energetic, and loving dog.

A little more about Frankie:

He is 3 years old and approximately 35 pounds.

He is now neutered.

He is extremely affectionate and loves being around people.

He loves rubber toys, walks, playing, and sunbathing.

He does well with cats and currently lives with one.

He enjoys other dogs, although his excitement can sometimes overwhelm them.

He has a lot of energy and loves to play and roughhouse.

He sometimes playfully nibbles, but he has never snapped at or bitten anyone aggressively.

We believe a home without young children would be best because of his high energy and playful nature.

My husband and I are both full-time college students and work full-time. We love Frankie more than anything and have always done everything we can to give him a wonderful life. However, after these unexpected medical expenses, we are worried about whether we can realistically afford any additional medical care he may need in the future.

This isn't a decision we're making because we don't want him anymore. Quite the opposite. He is spoiled rotten, loved beyond words, and truly part of our family. We just want to make sure he has the best possible future, even if that means it isn't with us.
We are not looking to rush this process. We are more than happy to continue caring for Frankie while he finishes his medications and fully recovers from surgery. We want to make sure he is comfortable, healthy, and ready before making any transition. The last thing we want is to add unnecessary stress while he's healing.

Our biggest priority is finding a safe, responsible, and loving home that understands French Bulldogs and is financially prepared for any future veterinary needs. We would strongly prefer to work with a reputable rescue or an organization that can help carefully screen potential adopters.

We are located in the Roanoke, Virginia area and are happy to provide veterinary records, photographs, and additional information about Frankie.

If anyone knows of a reputable French Bulldog rescue, has experience with the surrender process, or can point us toward trustworthy resources, we would be incredibly grateful.

This is heartbreaking for us, and we are trying to approach it as responsibly as possible. Frankie deserves nothing less than a wonderful life filled with love.

Thank you for reading. ❤️

Donations/Supplies Plea Raphael has known so much cruelty. We want him to know love and keep healing 💔🙏🤍 #RescuedDog #Biopsy #PleaseSupport

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

Raphael’s latest CBC results showed that his white blood cell count has improved, although it is still slightly below normal. He will need to continue taking antibiotics for his infection.

Thankfully, the mass on his flank was finally surgically removed today and sent for biopsy. We expect to receive the results in a few weeks, and we are praying that it is not cancer or anything that could cause him more pain and suffering. 🙏🤍

We also learned that what we initially thought was another mass on his hind leg was actually a ruptured Achilles tendon, likely an old injury from before his rescue.

For those who don't know Raphael's story, ww rescued him from a construction site in Pasig City. He had a wound on his leg and has a permanent limp because someone had placed a wire tightly around his leg. He was also reportedly placed inside a sack and nearly butchered. It breaks my heart to think about everything he endured before he was rescued. 💔

Because of his traumatic past, Raphael still struggles with severe fear-based aggression. Today, it took several shelter caretakers just to safely get him into a crate so he could be brought to the clinic. I cannot blame him for being so afraid of people after everything he has experienced.

But we will never give up on Raphael. He deserves to experience kindness, safety, and a life without fear.
His veterinary bill today was ₱13,590 ($300.91 CAD).
Raphael still has a long road to recovery, and we cannot provide everything he needs alone.

We are humbly asking for your continued support to help us cover his veterinary expenses, medications, and ongoing care.

Every little bit of help makes a difference, especially as we continue caring for many other rescued animals who also need medical attention.

Donations/Supplies Plea A Long Road to Recovery: Thor Still Needs Our Help 🐾 #RescuedPitBull #VoicelessNoMorePH

Hi everyone,

Thor is still battling blood parasites and a persistent infection.

It breaks my heart that he has been struggling with this for so long. Thankfully, his latest lab results continue to show some improvement, which gives us hope. I just wish our sweet Thor could finally recover completely. He has already been through so much, and all I want is for him to be healthy and happy.

If Thor continues to test positive for blood parasites at his next appointment, we will proceed with imidocarb injections as recommended by his veterinarian. Unfortunately, this treatment will be more expensive due to his weight.

We humbly ask for your continued support so we can provide Thor with the veterinary care and treatment he needs. He has already endured so much, and we just want to see him fully recover and live a healthy, happy life. ❤️🙏

Rescue Stories 🐾 From a life in the rubbish to a chance at a better future ❤️

I used to see this poor dog searching for food in the rubbish every time I passed by. She was suffering from mange, malnutrition and anemia, and she was just trying to survive on the streets.

I couldn’t keep walking past her and pretending not to see her suffering. So, one day, I decided to rescue her and take her to the shelter.

After receiving the treatment and care she needed, she recovered beautifully. ❤️🐶

She deserves a life where she will never have to search for food in the rubbish again, where she will be safe, loved and cared for.

Every life matters. Sometimes, all it takes is one person to stop, care and give an animal a second chance. ❤️🐾

Would you like to ADOPT sweet and beautiful Daisy? 🩷🐶🩷

⭐️ Daisy (A590408) is ADOPTABLE. She can be adopted directly from the shelter:

📍Orange County Animal Services
2769 Conroy Road, Orlando, FL 32839

⏰ Adoption hours :
Thurs - Tues : 10a.m. - 6p.m.
Wed : 2p.m. - 6p.m.
Please arrive by 5 pm.

🩷 Daisy (A590408). Female, 7 years old, 67 lbs, spayed and heartworm negative. She is ready to go home with you the same day you adopt her 🥰🐶🩷.

Meet sweet Daisy! She is very friendly with people and has been paired with other similar sized dogs. She is currently sharing kennel 23 with Fiddle (neutered male dog).

She is energetic, affectionate and playful. She is loose/wiggly in kennel and allows leashing. In yard, she seeks social with handler. She is a great candidate for playgroups.

Daisy has a lot of energy and loves to zoom around the play yards. She acts all tough with other dogs through the fence, but wants to be friends with them when there is no barrier between them.

When volunteers take her out she's got to run and run to use up her excess energy before she comes over for affection and pets. Daisy needs an adopter with a lot of energy and preferably a yard to run in. And a tall fence because she can climb very well for a 7-year old.

We are hoping to find an energetic person with no small animals or children to take this beauty home.

Please share Daisy with friends and family and on all your social media platforms for the best forever home ever 🏡🩷🐶.

Grief How to deal with a sudden loss

My husband and I adopted our son Star in 2023 at 3 years old. He came with a lot more health issues than we were told he had (kidney disease, gallbladder disease, liver disease, chronic ear infections, allergies, polydipsia, and polyuria) but we fell in love with him and took as good care of him as we could. We worked diligently with regular vets and an internal medicine specialists for 3 years to stabilize him on a large medication regimen that made him comfortable and happy. Honestly we have a lot of debt from his medical care

In early October something changed after some medication changes and he didn’t seem right. We took him to the vet and they found a low grade heart murmur. We reversed the medication change and were waiting to see its impact before getting into see the cardiologist. He started showing signs of respiratory distress that weekend and he wasn’t well so my husband rushed him to the ER where they found out Star was in heart failure and his murmur had gotten a lot worse. I rushed home from a trip and we brought star home.

Star never got better, even after they got him through the first episode of heart failure. They told us with all of his concurrent issues, it was likely he would go into heart failure again, even if they could try and treat it. He did the next afternoon. We didn’t want him to suffer anymore, he had fought for so long and so hard all of his life. He had a really hard life before we adopted him.

I don’t know why I’m even writing this all out other than to say i cannot cope with this loss. We knew he was sick and would pass away one day, but we thought he would be old and gray. We simply weren’t ready. How am I supposed to get through this. How are we supposed to get through this. I miss him so much and I just feel like I can’t breathe every single day.

This isn’t my first time losing pets, my childhood dogs passed away at a nice old age. We don’t want kids. Star was our baby. He was with us in our first house together and there on the day we got married. It feels like no one understands how big of a loss this is to us.

Edit: I’ve spent most of the day reading all of your comments. Thank you so much for helping me feel less alone. I’m sharing them with my husband too. For everyone who also shared their losses, I’m so sorry we are going through this together. I’ve been lighting a candle for Star every night and will light an extra candle for all of your babies tonight too. Thank again for helping me feel the love. I can only hope to share it back.

Donations/Supplies Plea Please help my Dog walk again

Hi everyone,
I’m asking for help with Brownie’s treatment again. Brownie has been experiencing severe neurological problems for several months. She stopped barking around three months ago, and gradually her mobility started deteriorating. She began falling while walking, then lost the ability to use her hind legs properly, and now she is struggling to lift her front paws as well. She has also been suffering from a serious lung infection, along with episodes of heavy breathing and vomiting.
We have consulted four different vets and done multiple blood tests, X-rays, chest and abdominal ultrasounds, and other investigations. Her blood reports were mostly normal, but her condition continued to worsen.
With the help of donations, we were finally able to get an MRI costing approximately $440. The MRI reportedly showed inflammation in her brain, while her spine appeared normal. Her doctors suspect encephalitis, which could potentially explain her neurological symptoms and paralysis, but we still don’t have a confirmed diagnosis explaining everything, including her lung problems.
She has already been on steroids and other medications for around two months without significant improvement. We are now trying a new medication plan and hoping it helps control the inflammation.
If the new medication doesn’t work, we may need further investigations, potentially including a CT scan to investigate her remaining problems and possibly a CSF tap or another MRI, depending on the specialist’s advice.
I’ve spent everything I had on Brownie’s treatment. I earn around $460 a month, pay rent, and care for three rescued dogs. I’m completely broke now, and I don’t know how I’ll manage the expenses if Brownie needs further treatment.
I’m not giving up on her, but I need help to continue her medical care. Any amount, no matter how small, would help us pay for medicines, consultations, and further investigations. If you cannot donate, sharing this post or recommending an experienced veterinary neurologist would also mean a lot.
I can provide her MRI report, prescriptions, and medical records for transparency.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated and helped us reach this stage. I’m truly grateful for your support.

Rescue Stories From chains to their own playground. Watching our rescue dogs learn how to play is the best feeling ever

Hello! We are Päite Loomapark - animals shelter & Mini-Zoo & Rehabilitation center from Ida-Virumaa, Estonia. We have around 300 rescued wild and domestic animals in our shelter.

Most of the dogs we take in come from pretty heartbreaking situations. The vast majority of them were kept on short, heavy chains their entire lives. They were never walked, never socialized.

For the longest time, our biggest dream was to build a proper, enclosed playground for them—a safe space where they could finally just be dogs. After a lot of hard work - we finally made it happen! Seeing them on the new playground is pure magic. Watching dogs who only knew a two-meter radius of dirt suddenly doing goofy zoomies, tumbling around, and smiling is the most rewarding thing in the world.

Please, tell us if this repost is not welcome, we are sorry!

Advice I think I just found my new forever pal.

Thumbnail

1.1k Upvotes

I thought after losing my beloved daschund I would never have the nerve to try for another little pal. Well after some research this little fellow astro caught my eye.

He was at a shelter nearby and I decided to go check him out but before I got hung up on him I wanted to check out other dogs first and really think again if this is what I really needed in my life.

I knew I wanted a dog a little bigger in size and slightly older. This little guy is 4 years old.

After looking over all the other dogs. His demeanor and striking look still caught my eye. I asked the shelter worker questions as to why he hasn't been picked yet since he's so beautiful and calm. I would assume his coloring and being a Pembroke Corgi and Australian shepherd mix would make him a no brainer since they're such popular cute breeds.

My only concern was maybe there's something I'm not seeing, as I have cats at home and a 4 year old son (of which has been taught to treat animals with care and caution).

We asked to see him and as soon as we had some time with him I felt something. I didn't want to immediately become attached and still constantly asked questions and get a bigger picture of the dogs past and behavior. From what I observed I really loved, he was patient , kind , and just wanting love and a family.

He came home with me last night and after a much needed brush and bath his true temperament came through. He listened and knew some basic commands stayed by my side at all times knew his name and walked very well on a leash.

Introducing him to the cats wasn't as difficult as I thought as my cats are very welcoming. They puffed up and tried to be intimidating but after one day we were all in harmony.

He is a bit overweight and after some observations I've noticed he's way more interested in human food than his own and is very sneaky and tries to jump to eat human food. That's the only thing I have to work with him on in which I ask of y'all what would be some good advice for breaking this habit.

I will end with this, after one day I believe astro is the best friend who needed a home and family. And I was happy to give him that in exchange for kisses and love !
