Why do bookstores do this?

It irritates me and seems like a waste when bookstores who can't sell a certain paperback book will tear off the front cover before giving the books away. I suppose they do it so no one can resell them, but it really disfigures the book and makes it less enjoyable to hold and read.

When people assume that because I don’t post about politics on my personal social media, I’m either uninformed or complicit.

I had someone message me about me not posting on social media about certain political events and wrongdoings of the government. That really rubbed me the wrong way and isn’t the first time this person has said this or started posting passive aggressive stories about people not speaking out and advocating on social media, directly after confronting me about it. This is family, so I can’t really cut them off or restrict their access to my stuff without making things weird.

I feel like I should be allowed to have a personal social media account that isn’t centered around politics. Not posting about something doesn’t mean I don’t care about it, don’t have opinions on it, or don’t educate myself on what’s happening.

I just find it weird that people think they can determine someone’s level of awareness or how much they care about something based on what they see on their Instagram story. That bit feels a little performative at a point. They won’t recognize that there are plenty of ways to make a difference outside of posting on social media. I vote, donate to causes i believe in, support people who are directly affected, have conversations with people in my life and have supported and participated in the peaceful protests in my area.

I understand wanting people to speak up about things that matter, but I don’t think posting about every issue should be the standard by which we measure whether someone cares. Idk. Big pet peeve.

How Nit Picky Trucks Are About Your Having To Spend Hours Strapping Down Everything For The Cargo To Not Fly Off

I suspect this one will elicit much eye rolling, so be it.

I'm not a daily pickup truck driver, most days I drive a small car, but I do have a truck after years of not having one and for a long time I've appreciated how now having one enables me to haul bulky items I couldn't in the past.

However, anymore I'm to the point of thinking I should've gotten a van instead, because good grief are those things picky about requiring you to spend ridiculous amounts of time strapping the items in else they'll fly off at any speed over 3 mph. For me, I actually find myself saying "I didn't TELL you to do that, who TOLD you to do that," and I'm being absolutely serious.

I don't mind doing a quick 1-2 straps here and there, but for certain items I swear you'll spend 3-4 minutes putting it in the bed of the truck and 34 dozen HOURS strapping it in. That's ridiculous. It shouldn't take so long.

If this is why some company vehicles are vans, I can see why. Once you put the item in, you shut the door and THAT'S IT. I've got better things to do with my life than spending seemingly half the day strapping in something I spent 4 minutes loading. Good grief, stop flying off unless I TELL you to do it. I don't care about the laws of physics, REWRITE the laws of physics, but STOP flying out just because I didn't call in sick for my job and make loading you my very LIFE.

I guess I need to stop watching those old cartoons, they got me believing some goofy stuff.
