experience/advice to give Stories about starting with twins and then having another baby within 2 years…

My husband and I aren’t particularly young, but nor are we old.

Our twins were born in 2025. We always wanted 4ish kids and are seriously considering taking those steps.

Anyone with stories of their 3 under 2 or 3 under 3 starting with twins?

I’ve pretty much convinced myself that 2 to 3 will be way easier than 1 to 3 would’ve been.

good vibes, smiles, & giggles Diapers

Hi there! Mom to an almost 3yo little girl and 1 yo twin boys. I keep seeing diaper recs in tons of subs, so wanted to jsut give my advice, after literally trying every single brand of diaper over the last year! My twins are fortunate enough to not have any skin issues, so I’ve been able to try every brand.
My personal favorites are Kirkland and rascal and friends.
Baby a is 22 lbs and can wear Kirkland size 4, and rascals size 4, he is long and skinny
Baby b is almost 24ish lbs, and he’s in a size 5 rascal and friends!
My tried and true for nighttime are Huggies 360 night diapers ! Love them.
My second favorite are bum bum and kudos! Size 5, work well for both boys, somehow!
I really hope this sub helps some parents! Just try to see what works for your babies !
We used Huggies and Pampers in the beginning, because that’s what we were gifted !

advice needed 6 week ultrasound showed twins! But the gestational sac that’s measuring further along has no fetal pole. Is that normal?

I had an ultrasound done last week because of heavy bleeding. I was 6 weeks exactly (I’m now 6w6d). Surprisingly they discovered twins!

Twin A had an estimated gestational age of 5w5d and had a fetal pole present.

Twin B had an estimated gestational age of 6w2d and no fetal pole present.

Neither twin had a fetal heart rate detected yet.

Is it normal for the twin that has an older gestational age to not have a fetal pole present? I’d love to hear your experience when you were that far along with twins

advice needed My twins are killing my body

Edit:

Sorry, I should’ve clarified more! I definitely do put them down. They barely just started crawling, so that’s been helping me. I don’t literally only hold them all day. However, I do spend more time holding them than not holding them. One of my twins has a more high-needs temperament, so if I’m not holding him, he’s usually screaming. I’ve been practicing since day one to put him down so I can get things done, he still screams throughout the entire time I’m doing something. I have a degree in human development with a concentration in child development, so I believe in matching their temperament to create a secure attachment, which is ultimately why I do hold them so frequently and try to limit their screaming/crying.

As to address some other comments about playpens, we just moved to an area with small houses so we don’t have a ton of room for a playpen (especially with two other kids in the house). However, I am going to work on at least creating a small area for them that they can freely explore within a gate.

I appreciate all the comments of recommendations regarding PT and what else has worked for them! I’m definitely going to try them and I appreciate all the empathy and kind words.

—————————————————

Redownloaded Reddit just because I’m in desperate need of advice from other twin parents about the unique challenge of carrying 2 babies all the time.

My babies are 8 months old now and I’m pretty much carrying them all day long except for naps. If not two at a time, definitely one of them. We’ve tried baby carriers, they all kill my back. Even just carrying one of them in a baby carrier kills me, even though I’ve done the same with my other children and had no issue. What triggered me to make a post though was that I’m now having 7/10 hip and quad pain on the side I carry babies most often. I’m quite concerned it’ll only get worse, which would just make it impossible for me to leave the house on my own. I’m obviously going to go make an appointment with my PCM to hopefully get a PT referral. However, I can’t just not carry my babies before then. Has anyone gone through this? What helped you? Please don’t just say carrying them less or putting them down more haha. I’m willing to buy anything or go to any appointment at this point if it reduces my pain.

Also, just to add, this was my 3rd c section and I know it takes a while for your abdominal muscles to heal, so I’m sure that’s part of it.

advice needed 11 month twins constantly pulling each others hair

My twins are 11 months old and I’m SO frustrated with the constant hair pulling. Last week Baby A was constantly pulling Baby B’s hair, and now the roles have reversed. Baby B grabs his brother’s hair every chance he gets, sometimes with BOTH hands. I catch myself yelling “HEY!” or “NO!” to stop him when I’m running over to them but I hate doing that because he’s literally a baby And I don’t think startling him out of hair pulling when I’m running over to separate them is effective or right. I’m constantly redirecting them, but they always end up right back at it. I can’t get anything done around the house because I spend my entire day playing referee. What actually works Or any solidarity ?

advice needed 2018 Bumbleride Indie Twin

Good morning! I am familiar with the Bumbleride Indie as I have the 2024 model for my singleton. We're now expecting twins and there's a 2018 Bumbleride Indie Twin on marketplace for $150. This seems pretty reasonable to me, but looking for advice since it is already going to be nine years old.
Thank you!

*edited to add that the marketplace one is a twin model lol.

advice needed Twin delivery

Hello! I posted on this thread when I was 17 weeks pregnant with my head spinning trying to wrap my head around having two babies inside of me! Well fast forward I’m now 36 weeks tomorrow with my di di boys and baby A is head down deep in my pelvis and baby b is breach. I have a scheduled c section on November 11th but they are going to let me decide if I want to do a vaginal delivery induction or go ahead with the c section. Any advice? Can you share your delivery story? I don’t know why the c section makes me so nervous. I delivered naturally with my first son a few years ago so that’s all I have to compare to. My main concern is birthing one vaginally and then needing an emergency c section for the other and then left healing from both 😭

advice needed Growing family of 6 — Best vehicle setup for 3 car seats, a 10-year-old, and one parent handling the kids solo?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Looking for advice from parents who've dealt with a similar situation because I'm struggling to figure out the most practical setup.

**Family situation:**

- Currently 4: Mom, Dad, 10-year-old, and 1.5-year-old.

- Twins on the way (happy accidents, right?).

- We have our 10-year-old 50% of the time.

- Wife works shifts, so I'll frequently be handling all three little ones solo.

**Current vehicles:**

- Lincoln Navigator L (Expedition Max equivalent) with second-row captain's chairs. Primarily Mom's vehicle and our road-trip SUV.

- Ford F-150 Raptor, which could technically fit three car seats across the back.

**The dilemma:**

With three kids in car seats, I'm worried about the logistics of getting everyone safely buckled in, especially when I'm alone.

The Navigator's captain's chairs seem great until you consider having to climb into the third row to buckle a toddler in while managing two infants. Our 10-year-old can help occasionally, but he's only with us half the time.

A second-row bench would allow all three car seats across, but then how does the 10-year-old access the third row without removing a car seat?

**Options I've considered:**

- Trade the Navigator for a full-size SUV with a second-row bench.

- Replace both vehicles with something more practical, potentially a smaller three-row SUV for daily driving and the options below?

- Build a modernized Ford Excursion or explore custom six-door trucks.

- Conversion vans or something else entirely?

We live up north with harsh winters, so AWD/4WD is important. I also need occasional towing capability. A minivan isn't my first choice, partly because of the weather and partly because I'm a huge car guy and the thought kills my soul a little, lol.

**Budget isn't the deciding factor. We're comfortable financially, and I'm willing to spend what it takes to get a setup that genuinely works for our family.

**My biggest question: What vehicle and seating configuration makes loading, buckling, and unloading three kids in car seats manageable for ONE adult, while still accommodating a 10-year-old when needed?

Anyone who's navigated this with twins, three under three, or a similar family setup — what worked, what didn't, and what would you buy if you could do it over?

Open to unconventional ideas too!

*Photo for inspiration.*

good vibes, smiles, & giggles Why is this here?

"Momma, we're one and you let us out of the playpen because we hate it now. You put this here, so why can't I play with it?"

"It's the basket full of your dirty clothes, I need access to it throughout the day, and that is the pantry where we store food. AND THAT IS THE DOG! I can't give y'all a clean room, this is life, you can't mess with everything just because y'all can walk and nearly climb out of the playpen.'

advice needed Surviving week 6

My twin girls are currently 6 weeks old and from
week 5, we've been experiencing cluster feeding and so much fussiness. Also facing witching hours every day. Putting them to sleep (especially in the bassinet) has become an extreme sport. I think they are also starting to react to each other’s cries. I feel overwhelmed and pretty anxious. We did not have a fixed daily schedule before but there were longer and more
predictable sleeping periods when I could sleep/take a shower/pump/do something other than breastfeeding. I miss it so much 😩 Could it be the 6-week growth spurt? How did you survive this period with twins? How long did it last?

advice needed Afraid to get excited about my twin pregnancy after a miscarriage/d&c in July. Looking for some words of wisdom

I’m 6w5d pregnant with twins. My fiancé and I are shocked and so so so excited. But I’m afraid to get too excited. I had a miscarriage that resulted in a d&c in July. I was 11 weeks along.

I’d still be so happy if even 1 baby was viable. But the negative part of my mind keeps telling me to expect nothing. I’m so afraid to lose 2 babies this time around.

Just looking for some encouragement as I wait for my 8 week appointment.

advice needed Belly Support Belt/Bands to help with pelvic pain

Hi all I’m 21 weeks pregnant with Di/di b/g twins and since about week 16 I’ve had horrible pelvic pain/soreness and lower back pain. I looked for some belts/bands on Amazon but most have bad reviews. Just looking to see if you used one and if you could share which one you used or if there’s anything else you’ve done to help relieve some of that pressure?

advice needed Antepartum Stay

I am anticipating being admitted within the next 2 weeks for an antepartum stay that I hope lasts 5-6 weeks— would love any advice on what to pack? Things you didn’t pack but wish you had? Things you packed but could have left home?

I am habitually an overpacker, but would love to not be the gal who looks like she’s moving in forever 😂

My house is about 25 min from my hospital and I will have my husband to bring me clothes/take laundry home periodically.

advice needed “Baby” monitors- when did you stop using them?

My twins are about to be 4 and we still use a baby monitor. I say use loosely- it’s in their room but we only look at it when they are being wild pre bed or pre wake up. I’ll also check if one of them is crying to see if I can tell who it is. I’d say we look at it maybe 3x a week on average.

I feel like all my friend with single kids moved past around 3, but because we still use it to discern if they are playing or fighting and therefore need intervention I’ve been reluctant to let it go. So when did you other parents of multiples ditch the monitor??

support needed Pregnant with twins

I just found out I’m pregnant with twins and I have a one year old girl. Are there any moms who’ve had twins with a toddler? How do you cope with that and handle that? We don’t have any family with us so it’s hard and I’m absolutely terrified. I’m happy that we’re going to be bringing two precious babies into our family, but part of me is also sad that my other baby girl won’t be getting as much attention from me. She’s such a mama’s girl and I don’t want her to feel some type of way or to feel like I love her less. How do I show all my babies the love they deserve and need?

advice needed Did your under bust / band ever go back to pre pregnancy size?

I’m roughly back to pre pregnancy weight but my underbust measurement is 4 inches bigger and also my abdomen is also 4 inches bigger. Do these areas ever return to pre pregnancy shape / size? I carried until 37&5 and worked hard to gain 50 pounds as advised by my MFM.

support needed Mono Di Twins

38 years old - and just found out pregnant with mono di twins (about 9 weeks 2 days now). Already have a 3 year old and 6 year old.

We only planned for one. I feel so sad and depressed. I don’t think I can mentally, physically and emotionally handle it. As well as all the risks that could happen.. time in the hospital.. etc.

I haven’t even had a chance to meet with my OB yet to get any sort of questions answered.

I know this sounds horrible. Is selective reduction an option?

advice needed Carrier

Post image

Has anyone tried this carrier from Etsy? Photo attached.

Alternatively, what carriers worked for you when your babies were about 12/13 lbs. my guys are too small for the back carry to twin go won't work.

I was having them both in a woven wrap for months and it was amazing but they are just too big to both fit in there now.

advice needed Need some advice for outings if you are a single or solo parent a lot!

I recently left my childrens dad after he was arrested for DV. Before, I was solo about 90% of the time anyway and he never wanted to do outings but I was never successful by myself with my kids (16 month old twins and a 3 year old.) how do you guys do outings safely? Our outings have always been limited to gated playgrounds, walks through the neighborhood, visiting family and occasionally the library play area. I want to venture out as I was doing everything with my first when she was this age. Even the playground is so hard - everyone goes in completely different directions, my twins eat everything off the ground and I have to make sure older kids aren’t running into them. I feel like I cannot do it safely? I don’t know

For context, one of my twins can be really difficult. He hurts himself when he gets upset, is abnormally strong, hates strollers with a passion, and he has a lot of meltdowns (he probably spends about 70% of the day crying/screaming - he can be a fun happy dude, but it’s ruined a lot by little things). He is speech delayed and he also is struggling to grasp following simple directions (for example, my other twin can be told no and she understands what I mean). So even when an outing is semi-successful, he is usually screaming and fighting and hitting his head on stuff because he is upset etc, and I just feel like I never get my kids outside enough to see the world. I feel like they are isolated and me too

Any advice is appreciated

advice needed Best kitchen tower for twins

I can’t afford one designed for twins as it seems to cost $200+.

My babies are 15 months old and on the upper percentiles for height and weight.

I would like suggestions for twin toddler towers so they can get up to counter height.

Thank you.

support needed Mo/Di twins size difference

Hello, I had my first of biweekly scans at 16 weeks and 4 days.
One twin was measuring 16 weeks and 1 days and the other was measuring 15 weeks and 1 days.
Has anyone else had this and continued to have a healthy pregnancy?
The doctor said one was slightly smaller but that seems like quite a big gap to me? They’ve now booked me in with the main FTM consultant at the hospital but that’s not until a week on Friday.
They saidblood flow and fluid looks fine, but of course you start googling read how quickly things can change with twins who share a placenta.
Just feeling very anxious about everything and would love to hear some positive stories 🙏🏻

support needed Anyone with a much older singleton (6+ years) and younger twins?

I'm almost 7 weeks pregnant and just discovered it's twins. I'm panicking about almost every aspect of this and need someone to talk me down:

Dr. is suspicious that it's mo-mo. I know from reading here that this may be premature to determine, and that MFM is better at imaging this, so I'm trying to keep my panic about this at bay until we have better information. But I have had repeated miscarriages (3) in the past few years, so I worry very much about loss but also about stillbirth later and cognitive damage if there is significant cord entanglement or just because of being born very premature. Especially about how this might impact my older child as she grows up, if there is significant disability caused by complications.

But I also worry about my daughter if this all works out. We have a 6 year old daughter and I worry very much that this is going to be a shock to her system not only to have a new sibling but to have 2. I worry that she won't be as close to the two of them in the long term as they are to each other, and it breaks my heart that, even with siblings, she may end up feeling alone in this world. I worry, as I think any parent does about having even one new baby, about how my love and time and attention will be split, and that this will be more complicated with two.

Does anyone have a similar age gap with an older sibling and younger twins that can help me think about this more reasonably rather than just with sadness and worry?

Thanks
