Frizzle, and smoke point?

Yes yes I know Graza is not gourmet. But I bought frizzle because of the promise of a 490F smoke point. Why not use cheap olive oil instead of vegetable or peanut for frying?

But… it starts smoking around 360, and is fully smoking by 400. Like, denatured and useless.

Can anyone explain? I know they don’t make good olive oils, but having “490f smoke point” printed on the bottle when it’s clearly closer to 375… what gives?

Which One?

I like trying new ones, and right now Costco has several choices. I'm not looking for people to tell me not to buy substandard Costco selections. I'm just looking for opinions about which might be best OUT OF THOSE SHOWN. We buy Terra Delyssa a lot, but it's very mild tasting. I like a bit of a bite. They all run about the same price-$14-17

Found a fruity Greek olive oil that I love!

I found it hard to find olive oils that are not too peppery and bitter for me, but still are flavorful and not bland. I have found some occasionally, but they have been like unicorns that disappear. Recently I found a Greek olive oil in a local Greek market that I love: it's fruity, flavorful, and devoid of the pepperiness that I don't seem to be able to tolerate.

Need source for small oil tins

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi all. I just brought my 4th year’s harvest back to the states from Sicily and I’m getting tired of buying 200 flip top glass bottles every year to give my oil away in.

Im wondering if anyone knows a source besides Alibaba for these f-style rectangular tins in small sizes like 150-250ml. It is crazy to me that there’s seemingly no way to buy these except by the 1000 direct from the manufacturer.

So if this is single origin, why don’t they tell the source? Feels scammy

Figaro screwed up their Tin version of Olive Oil from July 2026

A good quality Olive Oil, reduces your inflammation, Blood pressure, Insulin Resistance, Heart Attack, Brrain strokes, Cataracts, and improves your energy.

For decades I bought this and I felt above listed benefits. Had to accept ok with price increases.

  • The "One-Cough" Rule: When you swallow a tablespoon of premium raw extra virgin olive oil, a sudden tickle or cough is the universal sign of pure, unrefined health compounds doing their job. If it glides down smoothly without any sting, it lacks the antioxidants you are looking for.

But the recent Figaro Olive Oil in Tin lacks the health benefits AND the universal taste test by 90%.. making it just a very expensive refined palmolein oil.

Anybody tried any alternative, that has those health benefits and the one cough rule ?

Bari price

I'm looking at Bari's site and they've got a gallon of EVOO for $60:

https://barioliveoil.com/products/california-extra-virgin-olive-oil?variant=52501191360826

COOC-certified California olive oil. I've had their oil before and it tasted fine.

How are they able to do this? I can't find any other COOC-certified oil that is anywhere near that price.

California nouvo preorders shipping out

Hey all I put in a preorder for Picual and Coratina nuovo a few weeks ago and wanted to let you know email arrived with tracking info today.

Its pretty early in the season, i checked their website to see if they are sill accepting preorders and it appears to be still open. Not promoting tjem intentionally its just not a good year for california nuovo. Least that's what a retail shop owner who sells nuovo told me.

I don't know them, I ordered from Bariani last year and Bariani doesn't have any nuovo this year.

If this post isnt useful, please ignore.

Where to purchase olive oil from/ produced in Jordan (from overseas)

Hello olive oil pros. I am trying to track down an olive oil produced in Jordan for a gift for my mom. She visited Jordan once many years ago and got olive oil there, and she it still talks about how it's the best olive oil she's ever had. I doubt I can figure out the exact farm she got it at, but if any of you guys know of a quality reputable brand or company, I can purchase olive oil produced in Jordan (we are based in the US) that would be fantastic.

Thanks!

Polyphenol-Rich, Early Harvest Olive Oil

Post image
27 Upvotes

Ive been using an early harvest extra virgin olive oil that’s high in polyphenols, it’s from the brand Milan truffle.

I’ve been using it for a few months now both on its own and as a finishing oil, and honestly, I really like the taste. It’s definitely more expensive than my average olive oil, but so far I’m happy with it.

I’m curious though, has anyone been using high-polyphenol olive oil regularly? Have you noticed any health benefits, or is it more about the taste and quality for you?

Trying to figure out if it’s worth making the switch long-term.

What are your favorite brands that are consistently on the sweeter side?

I really dislike super bitter olive oil. I know some people love it, but I can’t stand it much. I prefer smoother or sweeter ones. I’ve had incredible luck with everything I’ve ever bought produced in Palestine, but it can be hard to find sometimes, so I need some other recs for brands to keep an eye out for that I can try.

I do have a Costco membership if that helps

What do you all use when you don’t want to use “the good olive oil”

My gf wanted to marinate something that required 1/3-1/2 cup of olive oil and she didn’t wanna use the olive oil I get off olive oil lovers so she used some shitty grasa we have had in the cabinet. I’m wondering what you use when you don’t wanna use the food stuff?
