Made some updates to my living room since my 2024 post
I also took this sub’s feedback about not storing perfume in the bathroom. Old setup in my post history for reference. :)

Advice 24M, Texas
I know my living room setup is super nerdy, but I am a super nerd. Any advice? I’m thinking I need a rug for the main sitting area, but not sure what color

First Time 34m and 48m. 6 months after moving into our first house
Finally managed to buy a house and been slowly trying to make it a home. Excuse the smudged windows but it’s our dog’s favourite observation spot!

Family Meeting Areas
The key is seating and things to distract people from why they are mad at other people.

Discussion How’d I do with my living room?
I know the red LED’s are probably controversial. I was aiming for like a Sith Lord, Darkside sort of vibe while keeping the theme.
Tool box also is an eye sore, but it doesn’t really have a better place to live atm.

College Update: Memorialized my Grandfathers service flag and replaced it with a new feature for 2027!
A few months back I posted my apartment and the biggest backlash was the large American flag I had above my desk, which did look tacky. It is the flag my family was given after my grandfathers service ended in Vietnam, so I thought it nice. But with a suggestion I memorialized the flag better at my parent’s house and put this up instead.

Question Photo gallery above couch of sofa table?
What would look better, a grouped photo gallery above a couch or above a sofa table?

Question Modular couch recommendations for apartment moves and irregular floor plans?
moving into an older walk-up apartment with a tight staircase turn that makes hauling a traditional one-piece three seater basically impossible. looking into a solid modular couch setup where individual sections can actually fit through narrow doorways and reconfigure easily if i change apartments next year. a lot of modular options online either feel like cheap hollow plywood boxes or have flimsy plastic clips that pull apart when you sit back. what modular systems have you guys bought that feel solid, assemble smoothly without four hours of cursing and actually hold up to movie nights?

Guide Need help redesigning my room – measurements, furniture, sketch and photos included
Hi, I’d love some help redesigning my room.
I’m attaching a sketch of the room and I’ll also add photos. I’ve been thinking about changing the layout and overall design for a while, but nothing I come up with feels quite right.
The room still has a lot of the style from when I lived here with my ex-partner, so I’d like to turn it into something that feels more like my own space. I live here alone, only occasionally with my partner, so the room should mainly be designed for one person’s everyday life.
What’s important to me
- It’s very important that I can see the TV from the bed
- I’d like one wall to have lots of posters and framed art
- The room should feel comfortable for daily solo living
- The room gets a lot of natural light from the large window, which I like and want to keep working in the design
Room details
- Room size: 550 × 410 cm (5.5 m × 4.1 m)
- Total area: 22.55 m²
Furniture / items
- Bed: 140 × 205 cm
- Sofa: 180 × 90 cm
- Desk: 140 × 80 cm
- Kallax shelf: 110 × 40 × 147 cm
- Tall wooden wardrobe: 130 × 45 × 195 cm
- Clothes rack: 95 × 21 cm
- Built-in wardrobe (pink on sketch): marked as 42 cm and 85 cm sides, but exact shape is not fully confirmed
Openings / fixed elements
- Hall door (red on sketch): 85 cm wide
- Balcony/terrace door (blue on sketch): 105 cm wide
- Large window + radiator underneath (green on sketch): 225 cm wide
Other room features
- There is a fixed corner shelf attached in one corner
- There is another shelf between the window and the balcony door, mounted at about 125 cm height
- The room has access to a terrace/balcony
I’d really appreciate ideas for:
- best furniture layout
- how to make the room feel more cohesive and personal
- what kind of style / direction might work well
- where to place the TV, bed, sofa, and desk
- which wall would be best for a poster/art wall
If anyone wants, I’d also appreciate quick sketch ideas or layout suggestions.

Is keeping this desk here really that bad?
A while back I started WFH a lot more, so I threw together a little home office in the bedroom( just placed them in an empty area).
BUT I think I picked a pretty good spot 😂 I get plenty of light, I'm comfortable here, and after using it for months I've gotten completely used to the setup.
Now my wife has realized this whole WFH thing doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon, so for the past few days she's been telling me it's time to move the desk against the wall. So we can get the walkway back and make the room look more organized.
And yes, I understand her point. But moving a desk is never just moving a desk. I need to unplug everything, sort cables, clear the desktop, and rebuild a setup.
Judging by my wife's tone, I'm probably moving it sooner or later whether I like it or not 😭 But before that happens, I need at least a little support from the husbands here. Maybe I'll go ahead and get a new desk while I'm at this stage?
