Good Deeds 💖 Elderly man slid off seat on 7B, strangers to the rescue.

I want to give a shout out to the 5 people who immediately jumped up to help the elderly man who slid from his seat as we were traveling up Cogswell to Gottingen.

As soon as he fell, three woman near him and two men from the back, went to his aid. Picking up his walker, collecting his items, and carefully helping him back in his seat.

The bus driver pulled over as soon as it was safe to do so and made sure he was okay, asking if he needed medical attention. He politely declined.

After the other 4 went back to their seats, and the driver pulled back onto the street, one of the men stayed near the front. Eventually, he moved to stand beside the man, positioning his body so that if the man started sliding again, he could prevent it.

You all made my day! Seeing everyone, without speaking, jump in to help and take care of a vulnerable person made my heart glow. Thank you for being kind!

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston's office has criticized a Toronto professor for making "slanted comments" about a proposed artificial intelligence data centre in Cape Breton.

Sibo Chen, an associate professor of communication at Toronto Metropolitan University who researches the discourse around AI data centres, said in an interview with CBC News last week that public concern over the proposed facility in Point Tupper, N.S., is valid.

Two days later, a communications adviser in the premier's office sent him an email that called his remarks "irresponsible" and "uninformed."

Arts & Recreation Surge 105 - Is this supposed to be a rock station?

Surge 105 feels like it has no identity.

Back in the day, when it was Live 105, it was an indie rock station, which was perfect for anyone who enjoyed rock but could do without all the '80s hair metal and Bon Jovi on Q104, but now I don't know what's going on.

They came back as Surge and not only played some of those typical Q104 songs, but also tons of pop and even a little country music.

I have literally had to check and see what station I had it on a few times because the song they are playing sounds like it belongs on another station. So what is it exactly that they do? They still say they're a rock station..

It just feels like they don't know who they are.

Also their morning show is just two guys talking non stop about sports and one of them says Bro after every sentence. I can't do it.

Where can I find the most garlicky garlic fingers? I’ve had tasty pizzas, they are cheesy but hardly any garlic flavor. Had Nayyas and no garlic flavour at all with burnt cheese 🙄. Need recommendations!

News, Weather & Politics Halifax fire service could soon be one step closer to filling gap in staff

Later on Tuesday, Halifax fire fighters could be one step closer to something the service has been advocating for years to get.

Halifax City Council will vote on whether to include $1 million in additional funding in the 2027-28 budget for Halifax Regional Fire Emergency, which will add 20 firefighters to the staff.

In a social media post, the union says it would finally fill a gap in their aerial truck staffing.

“Halifax Professional Fire Fighters have advocated for increased aerial staffing for years. We strongly support Chief Rizzi’s request and recognize this as an important step toward improving emergency response capabilities across our municipality,” the union wrote in a social media post.

This comes the morning after a massive fire at a grain elevator in the south end of Halifax, where the flames were about 135 feet off the ground.

That kind of fire highlights the staffing issues, they say. They have been running those trucks with two firefighters regularly staffing them, when they need at least three according to the manufacturer’s guidance, while four is the international standard.

Food & Dining ISO: Quality Meal Delivery Service that delivers to Dartmouth

• Upvotes

Hello,

I live in the United States but a good friend of mine in my internet friend group lost a family member to cancer this week and I am organizing a sympathy basket to be sent to his home with the help of the rest of our internet friend group.

He lives in Dartmouth and we wanted to send a meal basket to him and his family of 4. Here in the states we have a company called "spoonful of comfort" and I found a site called "divine dishes" that does deliver to his area, but they only deliver on Tuesdays, and I feel like a week after the fact is less than ideal for us to show our support.

Does anyone know of another meal-to-home deliver service that would have options to deliver to the Dartmouth area sooner?

Ideally I'm looking for two meals (that would feed 4-6 people) along with a couple of soups, and either a bread or desert option.

The Divine Dishes basket is approx $160 CAD after adding a tip for the delivery driver.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Shops & Services Hair Salons Able to Accommodate Muslim Women

Anyone have any recommendations for a hair salon that can accommodate a Muslim woman? Somewhere with a private room or space where a hijab could be removed? Bonus points if it’s a salon familiar with textured hair. I have a friend looking for a space and thought someone here may have a recommendation. Thanks!

Edit: Thanks everyone! I’ll pass these suggestions along! Really appreciate the help!
