My very good friend is a horribly slow player. Had him to my club twice. He’s invited me to his. He’s a great human, but his pace of play self awareness is abysmal. Never ready to hit when it’s his turn, stops in the middle of the fairway to watch others hit instead of getting to his own ball, walks slowly, wants to chat on the tee instead of hitting, too many practice swings, looks for lost balls too long… all of the classic slow play examples, he’s got them.
We’ve been off pace minimum of 45 minutes every time we tee it up. His club clearly doesn’t monitor pace of play, or he’d for sure have been warned by now.
Any advice for how to break it to him without sounding like a douche? Definitely would prefer to keep playing with him if we can speed him up.

One swing feels like I can actually play golf.
The next one looks like I’ve never played before.
What’s yours?

I did the Phil Kenyon's 5 day putting challenge back in 2017 or 18. The first video was about start line, where you'd put up a two tee gate maybe 12 inches along the line...
Fast forward to 2026 and I am now a recovering yips artist - and am looking for those drills again as everything has changed and I need ro relearn. But i can't find them. The website isn't working and the FB page is also closed.
Does anyone have those videos and could share? Would be super grateful for the help!

This is just a PSA for those looking to buy the new line of Luxury Black shafts that Nippon recently released. I purchased and had them installed earlier this month, and only after a few rounds the finish is already showing signs of wear. This is caused by the grips rubbing against the shafts as clubs are pulled in and out of the bag.
Not a big deal, I'm just posting this as I assume people here who would buy these shafts are doing so specifically for the black finish, and Nippon explicitly advertises the Luxury Black line for its increased durability and "plating technology that helps preserve its premium appearance". This does not seem to be the case.

This was on the Butterfield course this past Sunday (10/25). What are the chances it makes it back to its owner? I’m new to golf and started thinking I should have said something like I know the guy from playing here but don’t have his contact info. Hoping they don’t just keep it.
If you’re on here, I hope you got it back! Sincerely Platinum II dude.

The ghost of Pete Dye cackles at every swing you take on the PGA West Stadium Course.

Is buying a used golf club (driver) as a gift for a friend tacky?

I feel bad for riggs, he got no help at all. All Horvac did was pull shots and complain

Trying to identify quality courses that have a ton of variety hole to hole. Each one memorable and sticks in the brain. Played quite a few top ranked / bucket list courses and some have been completely wiped from the memory with too many holes being mundane and repetitive.
For me, Sherwood CC has always stuck. I can remember every hole and it’s just a load of fun off every tee box.
Any great courses in America with 18 memorable holes?

I've somehow destroyed my driver golf swing. I think I need professional intervention.
Any in the area know a good coach?

I used to hit my driver so pure, and now even standing over the ball feels foreign. Something that used to feel natural suddenly feels like I’m trying to remember how to swing.
For anyone who’s lost that feel and gotten it back, what helped? When you’re swinging through the ball, what are you actually feeling or focusing on?
Curious if you had a simple swing thought, drill, or “aha” moment that made things click again. I feel like I’m getting in my own head, and I’d love to hear what helped you trust your swing.
Has anyone followed Spieth's career all along? Does he still putt short/medium putts looking at the hole or has he abandoned it? When he has had trouble putting, did he stay with it?
What do you think about the technique? I am trying it, it is certainly interesting. Not sure I will stick with it but it certainly works. The issue is does it work better than conventional so that you make more putts, the simple bottom line.

And no I am not consistent with a 3/4 driver swing, full send 280-300 or nothing

From all accounts he will be at this years Hero World Challenge, PNC Championship, is already signed up for the TGL, and will be at the 2027 Masters.

I’ve been playing since July and putting a lot of time in, as well as a lesson or two a month. I know inconsistency is the soul of shit golf, but I’m hitting the point where I’m flushing my irons on the range and then, during the short walk to the tee, chonking / Scalding / shanking everything. Like my brain can’t connect the ease of movement from the range to the tees.
Is it as simple as ignoring everything and swinging like I’m on the range? Or just stick with the repetition until it clicks in any format? Or, is there some sort of dark ritual I can perform?
I’m aware the answer is probably “shut up and keep swinging” but curious to hear how others transitioned when first starting out.

Going on vacation soon and looking up some of the local courses. Found this awesome video somebody uploaded as a photo of the course for their google review. Older guy has a better Gilmore than the younger guy.

The Open is at St. Andrews next year. Let's assume Tiger is playing, I don't see how he misses this one unless it's due to injury or something crazy (let's not go there lol). Everything right now points to Tiger playing competitive golf next year, at least in some capacity.
There's not another date set (yet) beyond 2027 for the Open to be at St. Andrews. Does Tiger stop on the Swilcan Bridge at next years Open to show this is his last Open at St. Andrews or does he keep walking?
Personally I say Tiger stops whether it be Friday with a missed cut or on Sunday if he makes the cut. The man has earned the right to play as long as he wants and to bow out from the majors and world famous courses just like the other greats have done.
To the people saying Tiger shouldn't play again I'll just put this quote here of Tiger addressing Colin Montgomerie's comment about how he shouldn't play in the 2024 Open.
"He's not a past champion, so he's not exempt. So he doesn't get the opportunity to make that decision. I do... So, when I get to his age, I get to still make that decision, where he doesn't."
So, Player says that Palmer should have won 15 more majors. And that Jordan Spieth would be the top player in the world. If they did not have a shut face at the top. What, exactly, does this mean? Arnie's gone but somebody should tell Jordan.
