Starting out - Email + SMS Marketing

Hello!

I’m a 30 something guy with about 10 years worth of business development, sales and email marketing experience.

Customer retention, reactivation and boosting LTV is what I’m good at.

I realise that I can put out pretty decent quality with Klayvio and AI. I’m far from being a cutting edge marketeer, or a graphic designer - but I’m convinced I’m considerably better than most boomers putting out AI slop.

I’d like to make ~£500 per month in the short to medium term.

My running idea is to target golf clubs who might not have a dedicated marketing department and sell them email/sms marketing packages to their database of active, past members and guests.

I guess I just need to get infront of enough golf club managers in Scotland to get a few clients.

I’d probably pitch 3 packages at £100/300/500 pm with different service levels.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s done something similar, especially in the UK.

Cheers in advance

Has anyone started a web development agency recently? How hard is it to find clients?

Hey everyone!

Has anyone here started a web development agency recently, or gone freelance on their own?

Two friends and I are full-stack developers with 6+ years of experience each, based in Transylvania. Our stack includes React, Node.js, Laravel, Go, Next.js, React Native, and more.

We’re looking to build a client base, primarily through networking, and are considering working as a white-label development partner for tech or marketing agencies that don’t want to commit to hiring full-time developers in today’s market.

Has anyone here had recent experience starting out in this market? How difficult has it been to find clients and get things going?

Thanks for any insights!

Website creation dead?

First I want to apologize for my english (french speaker here)

Here is the point, few years ago, making website was really a very good entry point to the harsh world of freelacing, even with cheap ultra-buggy wordpress premade website you can still make décent (?) money

I was making between 500$ and 3000$ a month, and i had to move from this path cause i got 1 nice a warm office job in another field

But for some reason, i found myself in need for extra money (we all do right ) and maybe more freedom

And i restarted few days ago and found like everything changed, AI everywhere (i wasn't seeing that behind my office),everybody is asking about agent, and LLMs integration ..etc

So please, would you answer some questions and give me advices ?

What changed ? Is it still reliable the remote website making ?

Does people still needs us ? Or we got replaced by ai ?

Or do you think it's time to let it sink and restart again in a New field ? (Fast learner here)

Or maybe i am not seeing the new pattern ?

The website like upwork are saturated or full of ai jobs

Thanks in advance

What to do with my skills

Hello,

I would love to be a freelancer. My main motivation would be that I can work from anywhere.

I am currently working as an SAP Consultant since 3 years, and I studied Math (I have a Master), and IT, so I can do programming etc.

Does anyone know, what would be a good way to start freelancing, or if I have enough experience?

what helps you find your ideal right client as a freelancer

wether your a video editor, thumbnail designer a script writer or involved into the content creation business in a way or other , whats your best way to find the client before reaching out to him , do you searsh manually on youtube and is that enough for you to get clients or you're questioning the same like me , i would love to hear your personal experience about this to improve the way we do it as freelancers-business owners to help find the right people to reach out to before wasting our time and energy calling the wrong peron to buy our service or product.

Freelancers: how do you get logos, docs and signed agreements out of clients?

• Upvotes

How do you collect files and documents from clients without chasing them on WhatsApp/email?

I run into this a lot: asking clients for logos, brand assets, signed agreements or tax documents, then following up 3-4 times because they lose the email or won't create an account on some portal.

For those of you who do client work (design, video, accounting, consulting):

How do you collect files from clients right now?

What's the most annoying part?

Have you tried a tool for this? Why did you stop using it?

Not selling anything, just trying to understand how people handle this. Happy to share what I learn.

How did you get your first paying web development client? I’m struggling to get mine.

Hey everyone!
I’ve been trying to get my first paying client for a while now, and honestly, it’s been much harder than I expected.
I have some experience building websites and web applications, and I’ve worked on several projects, including:
**Servio** – [https://servioapp.pl\](https://servioapp.pl/)
A CRM and management system designed for automotive workshops.
**FinanceMigrate** – [https://financemigrate.com\](https://financemigrate.com/)
A project focused on finance and migration-related information.
I’ve also built other projects and experimented with different web development ideas. My skills include HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, responsive web design, website functionality, and working with existing projects.
The frustrating part is that **I still have zero paying clients**.
I’ve tried posting offers on Reddit, responding to people looking for developers, and reaching out to potential clients through different channels. So far, nothing has turned into a paid project.
I’m not looking for another generic answer like “build a portfolio,” “network more,” or “just keep going.” I’ve already been trying.
I’d genuinely appreciate hearing from people who have been through this themselves:
How did you get your very first paying client?
Where did you find them: Reddit, referrals, agencies, cold outreach, freelance platforms, or somewhere else?
What actually worked for you, and what turned out to be a waste of time?
If you were starting from zero today, with a few completed projects but no clients, what would you do differently?
I’m especially interested in real experiences from people who started without an audience, connections, or a strong reputation.
I know getting clients takes effort, but I’d like to focus that effort on something that actually has a chance of working.
Thanks to anyone willing to share their experience. I’d really appreciate some honest advice.

What are the good fields to learn rn?

It's been rough time getting clients, with this AI crap, design is dead, web design / web development is dead(competition is wild and AI didn't makes any good), what are the fields in your opening are worth checking or even learning as Freelancer, and thanks for reading!
