Website creation dead?

First I want to apologize for my english (french speaker here)

Here is the point, few years ago, making website was really a very good entry point to the harsh world of freelacing, even with cheap ultra-buggy wordpress premade website you can still make décent (?) money

I was making between 500$ and 3000$ a month, and i had to move from this path cause i got 1 nice a warm office job in another field

But for some reason, i found myself in need for extra money (we all do right ) and maybe more freedom

And i restarted few days ago and found like everything changed, AI everywhere (i wasn't seeing that behind my office),everybody is asking about agent, and LLMs integration ..etc

So please, would you answer some questions and give me advices ?

What changed ? Is it still reliable the remote website making ?

Does people still needs us ? Or we got replaced by ai ?

Or do you think it's time to let it sink and restart again in a New field ? (Fast learner here)

Or maybe i am not seeing the new pattern ?

The website like upwork are saturated or full of ai jobs

Thanks in advance

What changed is that LLMs are now quite capable of coding a static website in react/tailwind, they no longer need us for that anymore. Initially, the LLMs hallucinated and generated lot of sloppy code but since last 1~2 years, they've become quite a pro at this.

But your value still lies in tasks other than coding such as devops work (hosting and deployment, tracking uptime, cPanel or OS updates, etc), AI isn't trusted at that level yet - though it's only a matter of time before that happens and even devops goes out of human hands.

Website creation is dead. AI can create pretty much any website using any CMS or tool. We can add many buts and ifs, the fact is, people need to change their skillset if they want to keep getting jobs.
