First I want to apologize for my english (french speaker here)
Here is the point, few years ago, making website was really a very good entry point to the harsh world of freelacing, even with cheap ultra-buggy wordpress premade website you can still make décent (?) money
I was making between 500$ and 3000$ a month, and i had to move from this path cause i got 1 nice a warm office job in another field
But for some reason, i found myself in need for extra money (we all do right ) and maybe more freedom
And i restarted few days ago and found like everything changed, AI everywhere (i wasn't seeing that behind my office),everybody is asking about agent, and LLMs integration ..etc
So please, would you answer some questions and give me advices ?
What changed ? Is it still reliable the remote website making ?
Does people still needs us ? Or we got replaced by ai ?
Or do you think it's time to let it sink and restart again in a New field ? (Fast learner here)
Or maybe i am not seeing the new pattern ?
The website like upwork are saturated or full of ai jobs
Thanks in advance

Hello,
I would love to be a freelancer. My main motivation would be that I can work from anywhere.
I am currently working as an SAP Consultant since 3 years, and I studied Math (I have a Master), and IT, so I can do programming etc.
Does anyone know, what would be a good way to start freelancing, or if I have enough experience?

Hello!
I’m a 30 something guy with about 10 years worth of business development, sales and email marketing experience.
Customer retention, reactivation and boosting LTV is what I’m good at.
I realise that I can put out pretty decent quality with Klayvio and AI. I’m far from being a cutting edge marketeer, or a graphic designer - but I’m convinced I’m considerably better than most boomers putting out AI slop.
I’d like to make ~£500 per month in the short to medium term.
My running idea is to target golf clubs who might not have a dedicated marketing department and sell them email/sms marketing packages to their database of active, past members and guests.
I guess I just need to get infront of enough golf club managers in Scotland to get a few clients.
I’d probably pitch 3 packages at £100/300/500 pm with different service levels.
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s done something similar, especially in the UK.
Cheers in advance

wether your a video editor, thumbnail designer a script writer or involved into the content creation business in a way or other , whats your best way to find the client before reaching out to him , do you searsh manually on youtube and is that enough for you to get clients or you're questioning the same like me , i would love to hear your personal experience about this to improve the way we do it as freelancers-business owners to help find the right people to reach out to before wasting our time and energy calling the wrong peron to buy our service or product.

Hey everyone!
Has anyone here started a web development agency recently, or gone freelance on their own?
Two friends and I are full-stack developers with 6+ years of experience each, based in Transylvania. Our stack includes React, Node.js, Laravel, Go, Next.js, React Native, and more.
We’re looking to build a client base, primarily through networking, and are considering working as a white-label development partner for tech or marketing agencies that don’t want to commit to hiring full-time developers in today’s market.
Has anyone here had recent experience starting out in this market? How difficult has it been to find clients and get things going?
Thanks for any insights!

hi I recently took my very first freelance job as a content creator. it's freelance / part-time. basically it's a startup fashion brand that is only online and they wanted someone to film content for them, edit it and talk to influencers. which is all good but since the team consists of just me and the owner and the media production guy, it's all a big mess and I'm looking for help to sort me through.
the owner requests videos to be edited on the same day, like she would send me at 2:00 p.m. asking for a video by 8 pm, and today I didn't reply to her message for more than three hours and genuinely I got a message saying " you're not listening, you're not focusing with us"
I just want to know what is the natural workflow for someone in my position that has my description : takes videos edits them and posts on social media stories and talks to influencers.
because there's no way I'm supposed to be online every single day for more than 12 hours straight and talk to her every two hours. so far I've just been doing that because she's literally been texting me even calling me non-stop so I can finish the work by the time she wants. but this has been causing me great stress and I haven't been able to do any of my basic tasks like showering or even leaving the house.
I tried telling her to tell me at least two days in advance about any task but she said two days is way too much for her and she needs things within the same day.
please help a beginner here and thank you.

One of the most common questions on this subreddit is some form of how to find clients as a freelancer? So here's a post about the basics of marketing and sales as a freelancer.
Many new freelancers make the mistake of treating freelancing as selling your skills. It's understandable since most new freelancers come from the world of employment where you are hired for your skills.
However, this isn't how sales works in the context of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs don't sell their skills. They sell an outcome. Observe the difference between the following descriptions:
- I provide services as a graphical designer.
- I help your business get 200% more impressions on your social media posts.
The latter is an example of selling an outcome.
When you're selling your skills, you're putting the responsibility of turning your skills into benefits on your client - that's what employers do. That's why they pay you way less than what the benefits of your work are.
As an entrepreneur, you must learn how to do this yourself. You must learn how to formulate the benefit to your customer and position yourself as the missing component.
This way you're not selling (and get paid for) your skills like an employee. You'll get paid for the value of the benefit your customer gets (like an entrepreneur).

I am highly educated, I studied three fields and taken so many courses even in entrepreneurship.
Past 2 years I have spent at least 8 hours a day trying multiple business ideas. They all fail.
I think part of it is the current economy worldwide, or maybe.
However, at work people come for me like crazy. They acknoledge my skills, and, many senior managers and vps told me or others that I’ll be great in business - all my projects are like beast.
However, I started designing websites and running ads for businesses for a small fee monthly, and I figured that I’m not the only one who’s facing the same issue.
It is really hard to make money.

I work remotely managing delivery platforms (Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, Menufy, Beyond, ezCater) for a consortium with 20 locations in USA (Latin, Asian, Chinese food, and grocery stores).
My job involves setting up/updating menus across all 6 apps, running in-app ads and promos, and handling daily administrative troubleshooting for all 25 stores.
If anyone here works in HR, marketing, or management: What is a fair monthly retainer or hourly rate in freelancer market for this volume of work?

Is it realistic to make $1,000–$2,000 per month freelancing as a beginner, or am I being too optimistic?
I'm a college student looking for a way to earn a decent income remotely while continuing my studies. I'm currently learning video editing and graphic design. I'd say my skills are decent but far from perfect, and I'm actively learning and improving every day.
I'm also learning web development and plan to offer that as a service once I reach a good enough level.
I understand that freelancing is highly competitive, especially for beginners, and that building a portfolio and finding clients takes time. I'm not expecting to make thousands of dollars overnight. However, I'd like to know whether earning around $1,000/month is a realistic goal to work toward, eventually increasing that to $2,000/month as I gain experience and improve my skills.
Since I'm a student, my schedule can get pretty tight sometimes, so having flexible working hours is important to me.
I'd really appreciate some advice from people with actual freelancing experience:
How realistic is earning $1,000–$2,000/month in these fields, especially when starting from scratch?
Which of these skills has the best potential for earning a decent income as a freelancer?
Is it better to focus on one skill initially or offer multiple services?
How long did it take you to start earning consistently, and what would you recommend to someone just starting out?
Which freelancing platforms would you recommend for beginners? Are websites like Upwork and Fiverr worth trying, or are there better alternatives?
Finally, how do you balance freelancing with university without burning yourself out?
I'd especially appreciate honest answers from people who have actually done this, including the difficulties and mistakes I should expect along the way.
I'm willing to put in the work and keep improving. I just want to know whether this is a realistic path to pursue or whether I should consider other remote opportunities as well.

How do you find clients? I don’t talk about shooting and editing both I’m just wondering the editing part by itself. I do all of them I’m a filmmaking graduate but I’m so sone with short format videos I hate creating for socials. I like editing long format more. I did edit short documentaries, podcasts, vlogs before and I’m looking for those kind of work. How do you find clients in these area?
Thank you.

Hi everyone, I’m trying to become an executive or legal assistant online and am on Upwork right now. However the only invites I have gotten were for voice recordings and it gave me a really weird vibe.
Also what does it mean signing a contract on Upwork with a client? Do they get in legal trouble if they don’t pay me or like I’m confused???
Anyways, any advice is appreciated thanks 🤍

Hi everyone,
I am a software developer and I am trying to start my freelance journey but I am not sure how to get myself clients. Saw people getting them on upwork or fiverr but got no luck.
I am experienced in developing automations (for my self and a couple connections), full stack websites ( made many for startups and friends family) , mobile apps (solo made for a startup), VOICE agents too ( been working in that space for almost 11 months now)
Help me fellow freelancers, I need a side source of income.

I honestly don't know what to do anymore. In my local job market, tech salaries are stuck between $100 and $180 a month, which is honestly a joke.
The frustrating part is that my actual skills and projects are way past that. I’ve built heavy, complex projects dealing with Machine Learning, Data Science, and advanced analytics. But locally, companies still try to lowball everyone and act like everybody is just starting out, completely ignoring the actual level of work we put in.
I really want to transition to international remote work, but I'm kind of lost on how to actually break through. For those of you who managed to land remote gigs abroad, how did you do it? What platforms or strategies actually worked to get eyes on your portfolio instead of getting ignored?
Would appreciate any real advice or experiences. Thanks!

I'm a video editor with 5 years of experience, and honestly, I'm exhausted from constantly trying to find clients. I have a job, but my income isn't enough to cover everything, and I really want to build a stable freelance career.
I've tried almost everything: creating gigs on Fiverr, buying connects on Upwork, building my CV and portfolio, sending countless cold messages, and even making free trial videos for potential clients. But despite all these efforts, I still haven't managed to land a client.
It hurts because I'm doing everything I can, yet nothing seems to work. I live alone and have to cover my education, food, and all my other expenses myself. My father asked me to leave home three years ago because of a misunderstanding, and since then, I've had to manage everything on my own.
I'm mentally exhausted and slowly losing hope. I know I have editing skills, and I'm willing to work hard, but I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong anymore.
I'm not looking for sympathy or handouts. I genuinely need guidance from someone who has experience in video editing and freelancing.
If you're an experienced video editor or freelancer who has successfully found clients, please tell me what I'm doing wrong and what I should change. How did you get your first client? What actually works in today's market?
Even a little guidance could make a huge difference for me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
