Shag or play it safe and stick with the basics?

I kind of like this style - but
1. It may not be right for my aging face
2. It seems to maybe take a specialist to get it right
3. No one else in my spheres has a style like it (might be too rock n roll)
4. My hair is extremely lifeless and flat.

Sample #1 is my fave - then maybe #3 but I don't have that poofy volume
My various short styles in recent years - current = upper LH - growing it out for a cut.
I used to have long auburn colored hair but now salt + pepper.

Deciding whether to let my hair just grow out of the balayage I have and go back to my natural hair color or continue doing balayage or maybe a mocha brown. I have naturally curly hair that I only like to wear natural when I have lighter hair so I’m conflicted. Last photo is my natural hair color and texture no makeup

I got these yesterday and I am so upset. I wanted wispy curtain bangs that blended into long layers... and I got whatever this is. I am trying to find a stylist to fix it bc I refuse to go back to the lady who did it in the first place. How can this be fixed? 😭

Help me find my dream pixie cut!✂️

Hi everyone! 💕

I’ve been thinking about going for a much shorter, edgier pixie cut, but I’m struggling to figure out what would actually suit my face shape and hair type.

I already have an undercut on the left side, which I’d love to keep and incorporate into the new hairstyle.

My hair is naturally fine and tends to lie pretty flat, so I’m looking for something that would work with my actual hair texture rather than requiring tons of volume.
I’m drawn to short, textured, slightly messy pixies with a feminine fringe — something chic, a little edgy, but still soft and flattering.

What kind of pixie would you give me⁉️
I’d absolutely love specific haircut suggestions, celebrity references, or Pinterest inspiration pics!
Be honest — I’m open to ideas!

Hair Health Hair advice needed (thick hair gone thin)

Currently having a hair crisis because I have an itch to get my hair done but am at a fork in the road!

For context, my hair used to be extremely thick and wavy growing up. As a swimmer years ago, I had a habit of using swimmers shampoo almost daily and ended up damaging my hair and it has not been back to its waves since. It looks thicker in the second slide where it’s styled (mom braids my hair) but when I don’t style it it feels thin to the point where my ears stick out sometimes and I’m so sick of it.

Part of the issue is definitely that I don’t get my hair trimmed enough, it’s almost butt length but has had stunted growth since the beginning of this year. It could also be affecting my waves but I’m not really wanting to cut my hair any more than 5 inches to take that gamble rn.

I’ve also considered maybe getting a digital perm? I have gotten a cold perm in the past after losing my waves but I heard this is a lighter formula used on the hair and really like the style. However I am still growing out my hime cut so I have an awkward length outlining my face and it might look weird (opinions?).

However I am wondering if I should start incorporating some products into my routine and getting my hair some volume first? Any products recommended? Thank you all for advice :)

Should I cut my hair?

Should I cut my hair? It's basically all one length except in the front where it has some long layers. I'm 31 and already have grey's, it's genetics but yeah some days I just feel like cutting it short and dying it to camouflage my greys...

Hairstyle Advice what to do with my hair?

Hello! For a few years now i’ve been clueless on how to manage my hair and recently it consistently feels like even after washing my hair feels like it doesn’t even belong on my head.

First two images are of today (brushed)
I typically wash my hair about two times a week and when doing so i don’t really use any products, scrunch with a tshirt and plop it up and that usually is really effective with my waves

I seem to notice that my hair gets very greasy easily even without frequent washing, very frizzy and thinning overall. Usually a haircut will fix this but since my most recent one i still feel like im at a loss on what to do. I very rarely use heat and haven’t bleached my hair in 3 years.

Any advice on cheaper store brand products? It always seem extremely difficult and divided on which products are the best.
Should i be using an oil? (typically my hair can’t handle oils or thicker products, it just greases/weighs it down)
Anything i should be doing differently in my routine?
My hair just overall always feels gross either it’s too greasy too fast or feeling thin and holding no shape

I’d appreciate any help!!

Hair Care Products Does anyone know of a similar product with lighter scent?

Post image

I like the product, it does what it’s supposed to do. I only use a pea sized amount on my ends, but I smell its scent non stop until I wash my hair. It’s not that it smells bad but I just don’t want to smell that all day long, it’s exhausting. TIA!

The first picture is my bangs right now, the next is when I first got my bangs, and the third is how my hair looked before bangs.

Do you guys think I should keep the bangs or let them grow out? Thank you for your advice!

I went in on the 17th of October, I received a highlight (no bleach) and then tone.
(And before we say anything about no bleach - I’ve never needed bleach I’ve only used it once because I dyed my hair too dark 🥲 anyways)
Here are photos of my hair, it looks okay from a far but i just think it looks so patchy and not the best work. I would appreciate all honesty PLEASE and thank you and what’s the best idea to go about from here! Thank you so much in advance

Hairstyle Advice What haircut would suit my hair type?

Post image
2 Upvotes

My hair is thick around the shoulder area, but it gradually gets thinner from my shoulders down to my waist. I want to get a haircut that suits my hair type, but I’m scared of choosing the wrong one and regretting it

I was thinking about getting long layers, but I’ve heard they can make the ends look even thinner. I’m not sure whether a U-cut, blunt cut, long layers, or something else would work best for my hair

I’ve attached a reference picture (it’s not my hair, just to give you an idea of what I mean)

For those who have a similar hair type, what haircut would you recommend? I’d love to hear your experiences and suggestions!

I included two photos with makeup and two without for reference. I haven’t dyed my hair in 8 years. I am considering getting some extensions and a different cut too. Should I change the color, and if so, to what?

My mother has told me I'm blonde my whole life, but I honestly can't tell. Is this actually brown? I don't care either way, just want to know how to describe myself. Taken outside around 1pm.

Hair Health Please help with my greasy hair

I’m currently growing my hair out, and it's longer than it’s ever been. However, I’ve been encountering a strange problem recently. I have wavy, thin, oily, low porosity hair so I’m used to washing frequently and dealing with greasy hair. For some reason recently, my hair will be greasy and stringy directly after I’ve washed it. The strange thing is that it's not on the roots, but on the middle sections of my hair. I’ve changed my conditioner three times now; I’m currently using loreal Elvive for oily hair (the purple one) and cer-100 shampoo and Tsal for shampoo, but it started after I started using those. After I wash my hair, I diffuse until it's almost dry. I have no idea what could be causing the grease, but at this point I’m close to buying a shower filter. If anyone has any advice, that would be awesome. Thanks!

Hair Color Advice Can anyone help me identify my natural hair color?

Thumbnail

I’m trying to get back to my natural hair color (shown in the older photos), but I can’t figure out the exact shade.
Over the years, I’ve dyed my hair red, light blonde, dark blonde, and possibly light brown.
My current hair (the photo with my face scribbled over in green) looks brown with warm, slightly reddish/copper undertones, especially in sunlight. I don’t think my natural hair was actually brown, though.
I don’t have much experience with hair coloring, so I’d really appreciate help identifying my original shade and figuring out how to get back to it. What level and undertone would you say my natural hair is?

Hello!

Recently I’ve been really wanting to dye my hair all types of fun colors, my hair is pretty dull and boring and I really wanna dye it something like blue, teal, or purple, but I’m not sure if they’d look good on me. Also have been wanting to dye it a pastel color but again, idk if it’d wash out my features or not.

Hairstyle Advice Regretting My Last Haircut

Thumbnail

In August I got quite a few inches cut off and I cannot do ANY hairstyles. When I say this, I’m talking about hairstyles that are appropriate for my hair length. I cannot put two pigtails because the length is so uneven on both sides and it is very noticeable. Strands of hair fall to the sides almost immediately. It looked good when I first got it cut (last 2 pics) but not anymore? I am looking for advice on what would look good to fix this problem. I am also unsure if maybe the color makes the choppy layers stand out? Should I change to a dark color? All advice and criticism is appreciated.

How can I grow out my hair if I keep needing to trim it?

I have wanted to grow my hair out my whole life, but the need to trim my ends a couple times a year has always prevented me from being able to do so. It's so frustrating feeling like I lose all my progress when I do get a trim, but it's necessary to keep my ends healthy. How can I actually start to see some progress without keeping my unhealthy ends?

Hair Health i have an insanely bad diferent hair texture in my nape

im F in my twenties and i have thick wavy like 2B ish hair. Right now its dyed red but that doesnt change much.

Since I was a teen Ive remembered i have two big patches of hair in my nape that drive me crazy because they are like semi public hair texture, extremely damaged, dont hold any curl or have almost any curl pattern as you can see in the picture, and dont even grow taht much. The patches are fairly big and in both sides and even when i put oils conditioner or masks on, they can get a bit better ( for example today is one of the better days since i put in a professional hairdresser mask) but they still look like shit and make my hair appear unkempt.

I usually braid them as seen in one side and its so damaged that the braid holds straight up!!! I need some advice i literally dont know what to do??

Are they damaged? are they being damaged somehow? I cut all my hair in 2022 and they still grew a bit like this but maybe it cab get better?
