I was searching for this community, I've never knew anyone else in my close friends or else to know this manga.
So I'm happy to see there is a reddit about it !
Here is one of my fanart :>
I hope you'll enjoy it
I used alcohol markers and acrylic markers as well !

This is kinda a vent post, I don't really have anything of substance to add tbh lol.
So Elfen Lied has basically been my very first real anime. I first watched it on YouTube when I was like 13-14 (I'm almost 30 now). Over the years it remained as one of my favourite anime, probably because of the nostalgia but I did genuinely enjoy the plot and characters. I would rewatch the anime every few years but I never read the manga during those times. I've seen many fans of Elfen Lied recommend reading the manga because the anime leaves out A LOT of stuff but regardless I never really bothered with it... Until a few months ago.
I decided to pick up the manga, I was bored and thought to myself it's about time I read it. Now I wish I didn't because I now have trouble separating the two mediums. Since the first time I watched the anime, Lucy had been my favourite character, and she had remained one of my top female anime characters throughout the years. But ever since I read the manga I can't stand this hoe!!! I can't even give a good explanation for it, maybe it's because I've binge read the manga within 2 days but god.... I did enjoy the manga because the way it expanded the world, the characters, the diclonius, the research center, and it added a lot of cool characters and storylines I wish we got to see in the anime but FUCK LUCY. Please, I can't be the only one, right?? Never have I read a manga where it changed my view on a character this much, especially my favourite character.
Lucy is far from being a saint in the anime and has done unforgivable acts but there's something about her in the manga that's just so... Unlikeable. I don't know how else to explain it. The further I got into the manga the more I wished she would DIE. Every fight or altercation I wish they would send that bitch straight to hell and it got me fuming she lived as long as she did. đ KILL HER ALREADY.
Anyone got any lobotomy recommendations for me? I miss having her as one of my top waifus.

Honestly, I consider anyone who uses "edgy" as a form of criticism to be a victim of a lobotomy. I wonât even go into how primitive one has to be to label any instance of nudity as "fanservice" or any act of violence as merely "provocative." I just find it hilarious how much anime from the 80s and 90s contained such contentâ*Elfen Lied*, by comparison, is actually quite tame when measured against the standards of its own era.
Whatâs even more frustrating is that, all too often, this is where the criticism begins and ends. When it comes to actual plot analysis, itâs as if these so-called "critics" were dropped head-first onto a stone floor when they were children. I donât even want to get into their failure to grasp the core themesâwhich go far beyond a simple "humans are the real monsters." Take, for instance, the common claim that itâs "unbelievable" that Kouta forgave Lucyâeven though he explicitly states that he cannot bring himself to do so. It seems that something as straightforward as human ambivalence simply doesn't register with viewers unless itâs presented with the heavy-handed, pretentious style of *Neon Genesis Evangelion*.

If anyone's curious, yes. I will watch the show in time for Halloween. I'm REALLY curious.

Hey guys, a quick question: do you know *Fortnite*? If you do, could you help me out? I suspect that Lucyâalong with Bandoâmight be in the game. Epic Games and their moderators keep deleting my posts, which is why I came to this wonderful *Elfen Lied* community. Itâs such a beautiful anime, you know? If youâd like to share your own thoughts, feel free to leave them in the commentsâIâll be sure to reply to you, and we can also talk about this outfit that lucy is wearing.

A simple fanart I did of Nyu, I found the outfit as a part of an official reference sheet n.n

I don't remember if it stated this in the Manga or Anime if at all, but how was bro managing this? I added Nozomi because that just makes it more questionable. Was it ever said if he had a job or some sort of income?
Edit: I was not refering to affording the home, but the groceries for the people living there.

i just finished it. all i have to say is i have been bawling my eyes out for the past 30 minutes after reading the ending of the manga. i regret it. i connected so personally to lucy and in more ways with nyu, my heart is broken and iâm desperately trying to believe my baby girl is HAPPY for more than once in her life. how do i get over this i am in complete and utter devastation

I won't give a long speech about it, but in my opinion, she deserves a better ending.

I saw on this Reddit page that there is a lot of merch from the series and references to it, like Stranger Things, so my question is: with this much popularity, why would another anime studio take the rights and finish it where it left off? I kinda hate the cliffhanger from the anime and want a conclusion and spin-offs.
That's what confuses me most.

Iâm back in Japan again this year. I didnât just visit Kamakura once, but three times! And I went to Enoshima too. However, I hardly managed to take any location shots because we were simply too busy sightseeing. Yesterday, though (on 6 October â itâs already past midnight here, so technically the next day), I spent the whole day exploring Kamakura even further, visiting old spots and finding new ones I hadnât been to before or hadnât taken any photos of yet. As you can see, some places have changed a great deal since "Elfen Lied". Hope you enjoy themđ©·đŻđ”

In the Western world and Christian cultural spheres, Attack on Titan is widely recognized and highly acclaimed as a masterpiece of dark fantasy. But look back about a decade before its arrival. There existed a brilliant, deeply melancholic anime called Elfen Liedâa tragic tale depicting the brutal conflict between humanity and a mutated post-human species endowed with telekinetic powers.
It is a strangely captivating work where innocent, cute character designs coexist with shocking, visceral violence.
And then, there is its opening theme song, "LILIUM."
This piece is styled like a traditional, sacred hymn, singing of absolute purity and spiritual salvation. According to some fascinating accounts, its impact has transcended the boundaries of anime culture entirely; regardless of specific denominations, "LILIUM" is now occasionally performed as an actual choir hymn in churches across the West.
A Japanese subculture anime theme, blending seamlessly into the sacred musical traditions of the Western worldâthat is the beautiful, transcendent reality of this song.
Greeting from a middle-aged Japanese observer in his room. I translated one of my thoughts from my Japanese note blog to share with you all.
