behavior help Daylight savings

• Upvotes

I’ve been inching my 1 year old closer and closer to 6 am wake ups (she was 4:45-5:30 for so long) and of course now it’s almost daylight savings in the states. I do not know what to do to get her to sleep longer. We’ve worked with a trainer and tried tons of different things, she is a clock! She wakes up early and goes potty, often resettles for a little while, but is still read to GO at 6 am.

I’m already exhausted. Does anyone have tips?

A few notes:
- I’m not willing to crate her right now
- dinner is ~5 pm
- breakfast ~6:15 since it’s when I leave for work
- she KNOCKS out by about 7 most nights and I take her for her last pee around 7:45 since she actually tends to sleep closer to 6 the earlier she goes to bed for some reason

cute Visiting new & old friends!

Decided to visit my aunts for a few days with my little Lady as she got a new kitten. It was Lady's second time meeting a kitten, the first being my cousins who she loved to play with the whole time, and it is safe to say she absolutely adores little Freya!

Even when little Freya would bite/play with her tail and face Lady didn't seem at all bothered. Though she definitely preferred the cuddles 🤣

And we can't ignore big Brutie boy, Lady enjoyed many cuddles with him on our get away & of course the occasional game of tug (that she definitely lost 🤣)

  1. First she empties toy box
  2. Then she sits in emptied toy box
  3. Finally takes favorite toys in toy box with her
I think she’s creating her own den? Am I right?

Medical help (non medical experts) Help this gentleman: neutering surgery in 2 weeks!

This is my boss. He is registered AKC as a mini dachshund, but now 16# He is at least 1 year old and he really grew stronger in the past few months. I am glad I waited for this surgery.

Now that it's scheduled I am a little worried that it will change his personality in some way. He never really seemed particularly hormonal but for a few months he would fixate nightly on some object he could dominate and rough up (usually a smaller dog bed). Now he only sleeps in the larger dog beds, a warmer dog spot on the floor, or when he's invited on the foot of the bed. He will "kill" specific toys, play catch, or chew up random rugs or items.

Will this still happen?

What should I do to prepare for the days for his recovery?

What can I expect, if anything, from his post op personality?

behavior help Anyone cracked the out of sight training?

My 15 week old has always been struggling since I bought him home at 8 weeks old with this. I've tried white noise, toys, kongs, everything. He will always whine when i'm out of sight.

He settles and sleeps in the crate when i'm out but when i'm in the house, he really is the biggest velcro dog.

I'm going to puppy training and the trainer says keep busy around him but do boring mundane tasks like dusting then gradually move to another room. Thing is my doggo reacts to everything. He has a serious case of FOMO and wants to be involved in everything I do.

I've read up so much about doxies and alot of people just say it's just the breed. But I don't want a dog who has intense separation anxiety or anything. Has anyone else had similar experiences and trained their dog to be abit more blase and chill? Thoughts and advice really welcome!

cute What's one thing your dachshund did "wrong" but you were actually silently proud of it?

My dachshund is almost 2 and she doesn't really get along with my mother-in-law because she often makes comments about her behavior and my dog definitely understands my mother-in-law has no authority to tell her what to do. And whenever she watches TV in the living room where my dog is sleeping and tells something to my dog, my dog is barking at her a few times and dragging her little couch to the kitchen so she doesn't have to be in the same room with her. Still love my mother-in-law though :)

behavior help barking at people on walks

Mine is almost 2-year old, and we're still struggling with her barking at people passing when walking. We walk regularly, she is very friendly with people coming over to our house, and she's never had any bad experiences with strangers. But the barking just won't stop...
