💸PAY Event$ Baltimore Anti-Sexist Men's Group - November 12 6:30-8pm in Hampden

Post image
126 Upvotes

In the wake of the “Cornell Seven” case, we—therapists Ellie J. Brown, LCSW-C and Jeremy Mohler, LCPC—feel responsible as community healers to offer men a space to process feelings, unlearn patriarchal conditioning, and stand together against misogyny and sexual violence.

We believe that to create a culture where acts of violence toward women are unthinkable, men must collectively understand and process anger, grief, shame, apathy, and other emotions.

Men must also learn how the systems of patriarchy and white supremacy perpetuate that violence and make it harder to have healthy and connecting relationships and friendships.

This gathering is open to all men, including cis, trans, and others who feel a sense of belonging in men’s spaces. We strongly encourage men of diverse backgrounds, identities, and sexual orientations to attend.

Over the course of 1.5 hours, we will:

  • Guide the group in a grounding meditation
  • Teach about patriarchy - what does it mean, and how has it harmed all of us, especially men? How can unlearning patriarchy lead to deep inner healing, stronger relationships with self and others, and collective liberation?
  • Hold space for the group to process emotions and connect - this is the heart of the group.

Cost: Donation based, sliding scale based on financial need, $10-$30 per person (this covers admin fees, and any additional proceeds will be donated to a restorative justice non-profit that helps perpetrators of sexual violence heal and change).
Location: In person at a therapy office in Hampden (exact address provided after registration)

Email Jeremy at jeremy@jeremymohler.blog or Ellie at ellie.therapy@gmail.com to register.

We are honored to hold space for this important work and to gather with you soon.

Need Recommendations Somewhere to study besides the library

I’m preparing for an important exam coming up soon and I have found it almost impossible to find anywhere quiet. At home my roommate kids r very loud and the dog never stops whining, so I tried the library but it just feels like a community center. Ppl are obnoxiously loud especially when a group of teenage boys come in, also the kids that parents bring in who can’t even read because they’re too young so they just run around screaming. Unless I constantly have something playing in my ears I’ll just keep hearing all that noise. If yk somewhere in Harford County I’d appreciate it

Preguntar Bachata and/or Salsa

Hi. I’m learning bachata and salsa and am looking for opportunities to enjoy my learning experience in Baltimore. Does anyone know where actual Latinas and Latinos dance? Or other POC? For background, I’m a white male and my experience has been that white females are very much about the rules and technique instead of focusing on flow and having an enjoyable dance. My experience dancing with Latinas, black women, Indian women, etc has been SO much more enjoyable. So that is where my inquiry is coming from! If you don’t want to share publicly in the comments, please shoot me a DM!

Ask Do you use a laundry service?

If so, which one and why them over the competitors?

I know the big ones are Laundry City, Poplin, Clean Rite. I used Sudshare myself years ago.

Full disclosure, I run a small laundry business myself, so I have professional interest in this topic.

Moves, Jobs, Meeting People Onboarding at hopkins

Has anyone here recently gone through onboarding with JHH? I have an offer at Bayview but I’m curious what their drug screening policy is. I know at university of Maryland they do not test for weed on their drug panel. Just curious if anyone has onboarded recently and has the inside scoop. Thanks

Ask ER recommendations for ball implant rejecting

Hi y’all, I had a Surgery early this month that involved a testicle implant. Unfortunately, the testicle implant is rejecting. I just happen to have a primary care visit with my doctor tomorrow and I’m going to see if he can pluck it out(that is the wording they use , pluck, because it’s not a surgery). If he can’t do it, I’m gonna go to the ER. I really am not looking forward to going to the ER in Baltimore. I’ve heard not the best things and I’m trans and I’ve had a lot of intense, specialized surgery. And I don’t want them to mess it up or treat me poorly because I’m trans. Does anyone have any suggestions on either queer friendly or more importantly medically competent ERs in the Baltimore area for this? I’ll travel. Thanks

I got surgery in Texas I can’t travel back to have it removed

Ok I’ve come to the conclusion my primary care dr will not be able to help me and that I should probably go to Hopkins based off their gender clinic. I’m thinking I’m going to go about 6:30 am,is that early enough to at least cut down the wait a little bit?

Moves, Jobs, Meeting People Help Finding Rental Home?

• Upvotes

Background: my husband and I moved from Atlanta to Baltimore in February of this year. We’re renting a row home in Idelwylde (Idlewood? I get corrected every time I say either one lol) and we’re fine with the neighborhood but the house itself is…not ideal for us.

We’re fine looking on the apps for a new place, but I was hoping there might be some agents or something that could help guide us. Since we moved from so far away we kind of just landed where we could-we’re still not 100% familiar with every neighborhood, so having help from someone would be great.

House specifics we’re hoping to find a 3 bed 2 bath with dishwasher and central a/c, pretty open on neighborhood, private parking would be great but LOL, and do need something pet friendly for cats and a dog. $2,000 a month ideally but we have some room to work with.

Any leads or help would be greatly appreciated!!

Moves, Jobs, Meeting People looking to join a trivia team!

hi friends! i’m looking to join a trivia team (or create a new one!) and not really sure where to start. i was on a team with my ex for over a year and we were reigning champs, so i’m really looking to get back into it — unfortunately i didn’t get the team in the breakup.

this is lowkey embarrassing but statistically my strongest category is pop culture/dumb celebrity and media stuff; however! i also have an academic background in psychology, music, and linguistics.

so if anyone has a team looking for another player, or is also looking to form a team, let me know!

GBDSA is working to provide medical debt relief for our neighbors in the Greater Baltimore Area. Health Care is a human right and highlighting the issue of medical debt in our community while addressing the material concerns of our neighbors can help us work on more equitable care systems and healthy communities. Each dollar raised can help alleviate an average of $100 dollars of medical debt. Contributions made directly through Undue are tax-deductible. You can learn more about the campaign here: http://gbdsa.org/s/UndueDebtRelief

To bolster our fundraising efforts, GBDSA will be hosting a Dance Party on November 20th, 2027 7pm-10pm at the Creative Alliance. All ticket proceeds will go towards our Undue Medical Debt Campaign. Tickets can be purchased here if interested!

I've had a package stolen here before, but someone fr took my tomato plant in the middle of the night😭😭😭 for some reason I thought it would be safe out there, but ig not. how does everyone keep their front plants safe?? for context it was a small pot, so maybe the issue is that it wasn't heavy enough?

Need Recommendations Cat groomer

My cat needs a sanitary shave and he will not let me do it myself.. I would ideally like a mobile groomer as he doesn't tolerate the carrier and going to new places very well but if I have to I can take him! I live in inner harbor so ideally somewhere not too far away

Moves, Jobs, Meeting People Entry Level Healthcare Jobs

I'm looking for advice on getting a job with one of the hospitals in the area. So far I've applied to at least 30 transport/patient sitter/customer service positions between Medstar, JHH, Mercy, and UMMC. I've gotten denied from all which is a real bummer because I'm desperately trying to change careers from working in the legal field to healthcare. Eventually I would like to go back to school for nursing, but right now I would just love to get some exposure to the hospital setting.

Does anyone have advice on getting one of these positions? Anyone willing to critique my resume? I've tried to cater it to the jobs I'm applying to but it's a little tricky with most of my recent experience being in law offices.

Do these hospitals do hiring events where I can go in person and shake some hands?

I'm going to keep applying for every position that pops up but I definitely want to set myself up for success and every day sat at a desk staring at a computer takes weeks off my life lol.

Thanks in advance

Ask Any recommendations to watch nice Halloween decorations?

My kids love to watch Halloween decorations.

So far they enjoyed watching good decorations at the corner of Linkwood Rd and Overhill Rd near Linkwood playground and at Roland Ave near the Roland Water Tower.

Do you have any recommendations in Baltimore where we can watch nice Halloween decorations? (which street in which area?)

Hopefully around the Hampden and Roland Park area, if possible. But we are also willing to drive to. such as the Rodegers Forge area, for example.
