The Brain Psychology behind the "voice" in your head?

How is this voice formed, is it based on how we hear ourselves, or does it have deeper psychological meaning? Why does it not change when our voices change?

Context: the voice in my head has always sounded like me to me. I experienced trauma to my vocal chords and no longer sound like the voice in my head. It's been years and I always assumed the voice in my head would eventually change to my new voice, but it still sounds like pre-damage me.

If it's not based on how we think we sound, what do we base it on?

How are these things related? Why can extreme rage be cold and calculated?

I'm talking about cases where the subjected person in question becomes so mad they go into a trance calmed seemed state, do the violent act and then even have a foggy memory about it.

I want to understand what is going on in the brain during these types of situations that creates such a contrast of actions an emotions.
