App I built an app to manage every physical thing I own. My favorite feature is texting it.

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

I launched my first app a few weeks ago. My background is engineering, and I’ve spent the last few months building it with AI assistance to help manage the things I own—appliances, vehicles, tools, equipment, etc.

You start with two photos: the item and its model/serial label. It uses those to help identify it and find manuals, maintenance schedules, and compatible parts. You can keep receipts, notes, and service history together, and share access with family or other people who use or help maintain those things.

I didn’t want to build just an inventory app where I catalog everything and then let it collect digital dust. I wanted it to actively help: remind me about upcoming maintenance, check in for mileage or hours, and use those updates to help estimate when service is due.

Texting has become my favorite part. The screenshots show me asking when my drinking water filters are due, then asking for a link to replacements. It already has my model information, so I don’t have to crawl under the sink and start the search over again. The same idea applies to my truck, four-wheeler, water heater, or refrigerator.

I can also text things like “Changed the oil in my F150 at 100,000 miles” and have it recorded. I can ask questions, update service history, and get help finding parts specific to what I own — all without opening the app.

Taking the two photos of each item around my house and garage took me about half an hour. Adding previous service dates and mileage took a little longer (mainly finding where I wrote everything down) but that gives it a starting point for tracking what’s coming due.

It’s called Hāvin, and it’s available on iOS. There’s a free tier; texting is part of the paid plans with a seven-day trial.

Would you use something like this, or would getting everything set up still feel like another chore? It’s been useful for me, but I’m still refining it and would appreciate feedback from others.

Mac / Windows / Linux: I got tired of copy-pasting into ChatGPT from Gmail and Slack, so I built a desktop assistant at your cursor

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Disclosure: I’m the solo developer.

My workday looked like this: Gmail or Slack open, new ChatGPT tab, paste the thread, wait, copy the answer, paste back, fix the tone, paste again. Same loop in Google Docs and Slides. The AI was useful. Switching apps to move text was what burned the time.

I wanted dictation and ChatGPT/Claude in the window I’m already in, not another browser tab. So I built UBIK Flow: a desktop app for Mac, Windows, and Linux (not mobile-only).

What it does

- Voice typing at your cursor: dictate in Gmail, Slack, Notion, Office, any text field

- Side panel: your ChatGPT or Claude account in a panel over your current app

- Ask about what’s on screen: you trigger it with a shortcut; your AI can use context from the app instead of you screenshotting and pasting; it can type at your cursor, use your clipboard, and show you step by step how to make stuff on your computer.

- Saved shortcuts: weekly status, client emails, the prompts you retype every Monday

A YouTube video showcasing the product is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bak_X2BwWho

What it is not: a new chat website, resold API tokens, or “bring your own key in a random web UI.” You keep your existing OpenAI/Anthropic subscription.

Privacy/trust: screen context runs when you hit a shortcut, not as always-on background capture. Signed desktop builds; I’m happy to answer how permissions work in comments.

Try it: 7-day trial on desktop after joining the waitlist: https://ubik-flow.com

Question: If you use ChatGPT or Claude for work, which app do you still paste into it from most email, Slack, or docs?

Open to any feedback or questions! Thanks for reading this, join the waitlist if it seems helpfull at https://ubik-flow.com !

Built an alarm that punishes me for shaking my phone instead of getting up

I got so good at Alarmy’s challenges that they stopped being alarms and started being little morning puzzle games.

Solve the maths. Scan the QR code. Feel weirdly accomplished.

Then go straight back to sleep.
So I built VocalWake.

You have to walk a set number of steps before you can dismiss it. Try to cheat by shaking the phone and it just adds more steps. Then you have to say a different motivational quote out loud clearly before it will finally shut up. Mumbling doesn’t count.

Would this actually get you out of bed, or would you just end up standing in your hallway at 7am angrily telling your phone that you are capable of great things?

App My wife's idea, my code: an app that finds your foundation shade in other brands

I'm the developer, so this is self-promotion.

My wife was tired of guessing her foundation shade every time she tried a new brand. One brand's shade tells you nothing about another's, so she'd buy, find it was wrong, and start over. She came up with the idea, and I built it.

Shadewell takes a shade you already wear and finds the closest shades in other brands: 31 brands, about 2,900 shades. Don't know your shade? There's a tone reading with the front camera or a photo. It's analyzed on the phone and never uploaded.

Your closest match is free on every result. All matches, filters and saving are a one-time $6.99. No subscription, no account, no ads.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/shadewell-foundation-match/id6797058765

Feedback welcome, especially if a match looks wrong.

App Got my Flutter app on the App Store without ever touching a Mac

So I had my Flutter app on Google Play for a while and finally wanted an iPhone version too. Problem is I only own a Windows PC.

Turns out you can do it. Took me about three weeks start to finish, and honestly the coding wasn't the slow part.

I used Codemagic as a cloud Mac. You hook up the repo and it builds, signs, and pushes to TestFlight for you. The free plan gives you 500 mac minutes a month, which was fine for one app. The queue can get ugly though, a couple of builds took almost an hour.

Most of the Dart code just worked. What didn't was the platform stuff. I swapped the Android doc scanner for the built-in iPhone one (VisionKit), switched Play Billing to StoreKit, and had to build the PDF library separately for iOS.

Debugging without a Mac was the painful part. First TestFlight build crashed the second it opened. No Xcode, no device logs. I ended up pulling the crash report through the App Store Connect API, and the cause was a single missing line, the AdMob app ID in Info.plist. Felt dumb. Now the build just fails if the ad IDs aren't there.

Review rejected me once, but it wasn't a code problem. Apple just asked for more info since it was a new account. A screen recording from a real phone, what the app does, what outside services it uses, how to get to the subscription screen. I wrote it all up in English, sent a recording, and it got approved pretty quick after that.

Two things I'd tell past me. If your subscription has no review screenshot, it never shows up in the app at all, the paywall just looks broken. And after release, link your App Store page in AdMob or ads stay limited.

Biggest surprise was that the account side took longer than the port. Developer program, paid apps agreement, tax forms, bank info, I even had to convert my account type. That was the real time sink.

Happy to answer stuff about the Codemagic setup or the review if anyone's curious.

Question / Discussion I'm 16 and built a safety app for kids who take autos in India. How much would you actually pay for something like this?

Hey everyone. I'm a 16-year-old from India and for the past few months I've been building a safety app called Beacon. I'm not here to sell anything (it isn't even launched yet). I genuinely need help figuring out pricing, and this sub seemed like the right place to ask.

**The problem**

A lot of kids and teens here take street-hailed autos to school, tuition and back home. There's no booking and no record, so if something goes wrong, nobody knows which auto it was. Parents end up texting "reached?" and waiting. NCRB data says 79,884 children were kidnapped or abducted in India in 2023, which is around 219 a day.

**What the app does right now (working prototype)**

- You snap the auto's number plate and the app reads it on your phone
- One tap sends the plate to your parent on WhatsApp or SMS
- You can share the ride live so a parent can follow it on a map with an ETA
- Mid-ride check-ins and an overdue warning if you don't reach on time
- SOS sends your location and escalates to a backup contact if your parent doesn't respond
- Hindi + English, PIN lock, and a real "delete all my data" option
- Streaks and a small avatar you level up, so kids actually open it

The long-term idea is that every plate snapped builds a safety history for that auto, so the next person can see if it's been flagged before they get in.

**Where I need your help: pricing**

I've decided the core safety stuff (plate snap, message to parent, SOS) should stay free forever. Charging for safety basics feels wrong. But I need some way to pay for servers once there's a real backend. These are the options I'm considering:

  1. Free core + family plan around ₹49/month or ₹399/year (live tracking, ride history, multiple parents)
  2. Free core + one-time unlock around ₹199
  3. Free for families, and schools pay instead (something like ₹100–200 per student per year)
  4. Completely free, funded by sponsors/grants

Some questions for you:

- If you're a parent (or remember being a kid taking autos), would you pay for this? How much feels fair?
- Monthly, yearly, or one-time: what would you trust more?
- Is the schools-pay model realistic in India, or would schools never go for it?
- Anything in the feature list that feels useless or missing?

Honest answers welcome, even if it's "I wouldn't pay anything." That's useful too. Thanks for reading.

App I vibe-coded an app for organizing recipes from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and food blogs

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey r/apps! I’m Patrick, the solo founder behind Matlyst.

My saved folders on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube were full of recipes I wanted to try. The problem was finding them again and turning a Reel or Short into something practical to cook from.

So I built Matlyst: an app that lets you import recipes from Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, food blogs, photos and cookbooks into one digital cookbook.

How it works

- Share or paste a recipe link into Matlyst
- The ingredients and instructions are organized into a proper recipe
- The original source is kept, so you can return to the creator
- Recipes can be translated and measurements converted
- You can also import an existing collection from Paprika

After importing, you can organize recipes into folders, add them to a weekly meal plan, create a shopping list and use cook mode to follow one step at a time.

Matlyst uses AI to extract and structure recipe information. It doesn’t download or repost the original video.

The response in Norway has been really encouraging. I’m now looking toward the rest of the world and would appreciate honest feedback from people who save recipes online.

Matlyst is free to download and includes five recipe imports per month. Pro adds unlimited imports and household sharing.

iPhone:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/matlyst-video-to-recipe/id6762563515

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.matlyst

Where do you currently save recipes you find online, and what is the most frustrating part of that process?

I’ll be around to answer questions and listen to feedback.

Yes. vibecoded.

App [iOS/Mac] Magic Pocket 1.4.0 adds interface translations and local keyboard layouts

• Upvotes

Developer here. I shared Magic Pocket earlier this month; version 1.4.0 has now shipped with interface translations, local command phrases and typing layouts for the Pocket keyboard. The App Store lists 33 interface languages.

Pocket is for the small details you save and need again: a booking number in a screenshot, an address in a note, or information in a PDF. Save it deliberately, find the detail later, then copy it. On iPhone/iPad, the Pocket keyboard can insert saved text at the cursor in apps that allow third-party keyboards. On Mac, there’s a menu-bar panel. It doesn’t integrate with password-manager vaults or replace Password AutoFill.

The new translations include Hindi, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese and Korean, among others. Wording is still being refined. Speech support depends separately on the local models available for your device and language. Reading, organizing, searching and speech recognition happen on-device; optional library sync uses your private iCloud.

First 10 saved items are free with all features. Unlimited saves are a $4.99 one-time Pro purchase in the US (local prices vary), covering iPhone, iPad and Mac. No subscription.

Happy to answer questions about the keyboard or the language settings.

With Peelday, you can turn every day into its own unique sticker pack.

Share them on social media, or use them as custom stickers on WhatsApp.

App link: Play Store

How it works

  • Take a photo, or pick one from your gallery.
  • Peelday finds the subject, removes the background and smooths the edges.
  • Before saving, rotate the sticker or make its border sharper or rounder.
  • Add a note and save.

Thanks!

LUCHIN APP - helps you with your decision!

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

We just launched our indie app Luchin on the Google Play Store and would really appreciate your feedback.

Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.luchin.app

What it does:
When you're stuck on a difficult decision (job, relationship, life), general AI chat tools often tend to mirror your own thoughts and validate whatever you type.

Luchin takes a different approach: You describe your dilemma in a few sentences, and instead of giving you comforting answers, it works more like a chess computer, calmly breaking down the hidden assumptions and alternatives you might be overlooking.

More information: https://www.hase-ai.tech/luchin/

Under the hood:

  • Runs completely ad-free - first 50 User get one Analysis for free!
  • Local-first privacy: your reflections stay on your device .
  • Built with React Native, Three.js WebGPU, and Skia Graphite for real-time visual cards for more technical insights follow: https://x.com/ThomasPittinger

I put a little iPhone game on the App Store in 2011. 15 years later I finally remade it.

Back in 2011 I released a small iPhone game called Bubble Dodger. You steer a fish and try not to touch any bubbles. People played it, and I always meant to go back to it someday.

This year I finally did. I rebuilt it from scratch with new art, glowing toxic bubbles that show up more as you level up, shrimp to grab for streak bonuses, a few power-ups and four difficulties. I also went down a rabbit hole and made the game generate all of its own music and sound effects. It's not much, but it's pretty fun.

The part I've had the most fun with lately is iPhone Duo support. When you open the phone, the game plays on the inner screen and the controls move to their own panel below the fold, so your thumbs aren't covering the bubbles. If you half-fold it and stand it up like a tiny laptop, the top half is the sea and the bottom half is the controller. That's how I play it most of the time now.

It's free to try with Easy and Medium. One optional $2.99 unlock adds the harder modes and a shop where you can collect and design your own fish. There are no ads, no coins for sale and no data collection. I wanted it to be something you could hand to a kid without worrying.

I'd really appreciate any feedback, good or bad, and especially from anyone with a Duo.

App We made MapleReady for Canadian study goals. Here’s a school-bus scenario you can change.

Post image
1 Upvotes

We’re Kasabeh Technology, the creators of MapleReady for iPhone. This is a real screen from its Ontario Scenario Lab: change the road divider or your position, then compare the explanation and source.

The app covers nine study areas: Canadian citizenship, driving, motorcycle, boating, drone pilot, food safety, security guard, real estate and responsible alcohol service. The interactive lab shown here is for Ontario driving.

Would changing one condition help you understand a rule better than repeating the same practice question?

Free with ads, in English. It’s an independent study aid, used alongside the relevant official handbook or required training, with no promise of official exam questions.

[Android][Player] - Offline music & streaming radio with ready-to-play radios - 100% free - No premium version

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

* New local radios lists (MANUALLY CURATED) : UK and China.

Mediaxon Music Player is an audio player for offline listening of music stored on your device (.mp3, .flac, .m4a, .ogg, .mka, .aac, .wav, .opus, .wma) and streaming FM radios (online radios).

Top radios on the first screen: When users access the radio screen, they immediately see the list of the top radios in their country, along with a long list of high-quality suggested radios from among the most listened to in the world (manually curated and always updated with new radios). Note: Local radio stations ("Top in the user country") are pulled automatically from an online database. However, with each update, I manually curate high-quality radio stations lists for individual countries. At the bottom of this post, you’ll find the list of countries completed so far. I will be adding the rest over time.

Advanced radio filtering system: The "Filter: ON/OFF" button lets you quickly switch between different genres. You can use both standard filters for "macro-genres"—if I can call them that—and create custom filters to be more selective. All your filters are saved (the "My Filters" tab lets you name and edit them), and the app always opens with the last filter you applied. The "Home" tab lists all your recently applied filters and can be used to quickly switch between genres with just a single tap.

Advanced Radio Search Panel: An online database provides more than 60,000 radio stations. You can pinpoint your favorite stations by combining multiple filters, such as tags/genres, specific countries, or even your preferred audio bitrate.

Separated Favorites and Recents: Each section—Radio and Offline Music—has its own Favorites and Recents. The user doesn't have to worry about a thing. The app will automatically manage the Favorites and Recents for each section.

Album art: If the album art is missing from the album folder, or if Android has not properly indexed it, Mediaxon attempts to download the cover from the internet. This feature depends, of course, on the ID3 tags (album name and artist).

Equalizer: The equalizer provides an option to automatically switch to the "Radio" preset (and vice versa).

Advanced Playlist Management: Built specifically to make building and sorting playlists fast and intuitive. Enable the Playlist Manager, in the settings screen, for a full control of the playlists.

Form Factor Optimization: Phone and Tablet (Portrait and Landscape)

Mediaxon is available in: Čeština, Dansk, Deutsch, Eesti, English, Español, Français, Hrvatski, Indonesia, Italiano, Kiswahili, Latviešu, Lietuvių, Magyar, Nederlands, Norsk, Polski, Português, Português (Brasil), Română, Slovenčina, Slovenščina, Suomi, Svenska, Tiếng Việt, Türkçe, العربية, Български, Ελληνικά, हिन्दी, 日本語, 한국어, 中文 (简体).

No Premium version. All app features are available for free and without limits.

Regarding advertising: There is only a small banner at the top that isn't bothersome at all. Alternatively, when opening the full-screen player or using the app in landscape mode, a banner alternates with the albums covers, but without being intrusive at all (no audio) and with much shorter stay times than those of the cover. There is never full-screen advertising, neither at startup nor during use.

Countries with new manually curated lists:  Argentina, China, India, Italy, UK, USA.

Note: Only for Android 13+ (Android 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17).

App Crowdoc: turn notes, Word files and scans into a finished PDF

Crowdoc on Android — preview the finished PDF before saving or sharing.

I make Crowdoc. It's an app for taking content you already have and turning it into a document you can send or print.

For example: import some notes or a Word file, choose a report or letter style, adjust the colours and typeface, then check the pages and export the PDF. You can edit the text before exporting. On Android you can also scan printed pages and have the text rebuilt into a document.

It handles Markdown, spreadsheets and several other formats too. There are layouts for things like reports, invoices, CVs and papers, and batch conversion if you have a folder of files to work through. The image shows the document preview.

The file reading, scanning and PDF generation run on your device. No account, ads or subscription. Printed text only for scanning; no handwriting recognition.

It's free to try for 5 documents and one complete scan. Unlimited use is a one-time purchase: $9.99 for Android phones or $19.99 for Android tablets in the US. They are separate unlocks, and your store shows the price for your country.

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crowfoundry.crowdoc

I wanted a mood tracker that takes three seconds, so I built one

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I’m an indie dev and designer, and some of my days get pretty stressful. I wanted a quick way to check in with myself, but every mood app I tried asked for too much: lots of screens, lots of questions. So I made the opposite.

In MoodSheet you slide to today’s mood and it’s saved. Later you can look back on a calendar and see a few simple stats. That’s all it does.

No account, no ads, no subscription. It restores from iCloud if you switch phones, and it works in English and Turkish.

It’s my second app after WishNote. If you try it, I’d love to hear what feels missing or what you’d change.

App I built an Android app that pastes your most-typed replies into any app with one tap, and you keep your own keyboard

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

I built Satchel because I kept typing the same things over and over on my phone: replies to customers, my address, meeting links, bank details.

You save a piece of text once. A small bubble sits at the edge of your screen, and in any app you tap it, tap what you need, and it's pasted straight into the text box. It works with the keyboard you already use, so there's nothing to switch to and no shortcuts to remember.

Everything stays on your phone: Satchel has no internet access, no signup, no ads. It's free, with an optional one-time upgrade (no subscription).

I'd love to know what you think.

What do you find yourself retyping most?

Try Satchel on Google Play: Satchel

App I made a little game for the iPhone Duo going around the dinner table

Post image
1 Upvotes

I wanted something to hand to a friend when they ask to try the new folding phone.

So I made Guess Angle. Pick an angle like 130°, pass the Duo around, and let everyone try to make that fold without seeing the live number. One guess each, then compare the results after everyone has had a turn.

You only need one phone for the group. If someone is bringing their new Duo to dinner or a get-together, everyone can join in.

It’s on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6826139801

Would you use an app to meet people at your university?

Hi everyone,

I'm a university student in South Korea, and my team and I are building a project called Overlap

The idea is simple: help students meet people they already have something in common with on campus. For example, you might discover someone who takes the same course, belongs to the same club, or has free time at the same time as you.

We want to make it easier for students to meet people naturally, whether they're looking for new friends, study partners, or people to spend time with between classes.

We're still in the early stages, and before we launch, we'd love to hear from students, developers, and anyone who's worked on a social app or campus community.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts on a few things:

  • The idea: What would make a new app genuinely useful enough for people to try it?
  • User acquisition: How would you get your first 100–1,000 users without a big marketing budget?
  • Trust and safety: What privacy, verification, or reporting features should we consider from the beginning?
  • Validation: What's the best way to test whether people actually want an app before spending too much time and money building it?
  • Mistakes to avoid: If you've launched an app or startup before, what's something you wish you'd known earlier?

I'm especially interested in honest criticism. If you think there are common problems with apps like this, or something we should rethink before moving forward, I'd love to hear it.

We're not trying to promote anything or sell a product right now — we genuinely want to learn and improve the idea before taking the next steps.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their experience or advice!

App I built an iPhone app to make saving videos easier

As an indie developer, I noticed that many iPhone users struggle to save videos from websites and social platforms that don’t offer a download button.

That’s why I built MiPlayer — an app designed to make video saving and playback easier on iPhone.

You can paste a video link to try downloading it, and MiPlayer also helps you manage playlists and enjoy your videos in one place.

I’m still working on improving the app, and I’d genuinely love to hear your feedback.

How do you usually save videos on your iPhone when there’s no download option?
