Immortal Pages from Aden’s Historic Struggle in the 1960s
These historical photographs document a chapter of the publications issued by the British authorities during the Aden Emergency (1963–1967) and the glorious 14 October Revolution.
These publications and security wanted lists were distributed and displayed by the British occupation forces and their allies as part of their psychological and security warfare, in an attempt to break the spirit of the resistance and capture the heroic freedom fighters belonging to the National Liberation Front (NLF) and the Front for the Liberation of Occupied South Yemen (FLOSY) in Aden’s historic neighbourhoods, including Sheikh Othman, Crater, Al-Mualla, and others.
However, these repressive measures only strengthened the resolve and determination of Aden’s free people. Through their blood, courage, and steadfastness, they wrote some of the most remarkable chapters of heroism, culminating in national independence on 30 November 1967.
We republish these historical documents today so that our children and young people in Aden and everywhere else may learn about them and truly understand the price of freedom, the greatness of their fathers’ and grandfathers’ struggle, the brutality of occupation, the disgrace of collaboration, and the resilience of the people of Aden, who never surrendered their dignity.

i’m just a foreigner but i have just heard a ton of biased media from all sides and i’ve genuinely been horrified at just the death and sadness that i’ve seen with saudi airstrikes killing civilians, people starving to death, and all that horrible shit. As people of yemen i know both outcomes absolutely suck but if you had to choose between the Houthis and the PLC who would you guys choose i want actual inside info on what’s happening on the ground not just what i see in the media. some media portrays the houthis as righteous freedom fighters that are standing up to a big powerful saudi enemy, while others portray them as islamic extremists who are trying to push sharia law onto all yemeni people. From what i’ve seen both sides are oppressing the people of yemen and making their lives a living hell. i just want you guys to tell me who yemeni people prefer if any of these sides, and i would like to know what it’s actually like in yemen, i’ve seen so much beauty in the country from the old town of sanaa, to socotra, to all the old architecture. it’s a country that i wish was peaceful so i could visit someday, under whatever government the yemeni people want. i’m so sorry you guys have to go through all this war and horror over 2 greedy foreign nations trying to push ideologies.

Salam everyone!
I'm a Yemeni college student living in NYC, and I was wondering if there are any other Yemenis here who are looking to make friends.
I go to college and have made friends from different backgrounds, but I've never had Yemeni friends around my age who I could relate to, share thoughts with, or talk about our experiences growing up Yemeni.
I'd love to meet more Yemenis in NYC, whether you're in college or not. It would be nice to connect, have conversations, hang out, and hopefully build some friendships.
If you're Yemeni and live in NYC, feel free to comment or reach out. I'd love to get to know you all!

I saw a video on social media where the girl was 100% south levant (palestinian) and there was comment joking like “Damn…this’s Yemeni levels of keeping it ancestrally tight MashAllah.” Then I started to have conversations with my mum who is half Yemeni and half Somali - her dad is Yemeni, who was saying they used to intermarry a lot and I was disagreeing saying she’s mostly a rare case etc. is this true? Or am I wrong?

سلام عليكم يا جماعة😅
Well I'm British Pakistani and used to live in middle east and Yameni food especially rice dishes were my absolute go to comfort meals. I was craving a good mandi for months so I finally decided to watch every YouTube video and give it a try 😊, next I'll make Lamb one.
I tried to smoke both rice and chicken with a charcoal smoker and it came out exactly how it should be, one question tho, I used saffron on chicken but it didn't gave the actual bright yellow like how they serve in the restaurants?

Hey everyone! I’ve been traveling around the Middle East, and Yemen is officially the final country left on my list. I'm really interested in visiting or learning as much as I can right now, and I’m hoping to figure out the logistics.
I know the main highways are heavily impacted by the conflict, but I wanted to ask: Is it currently possible to travel overland from South Yemen up to Sana'a? If so, what does the route look like right now in terms of feasibility and safety?
Also, if anyone happens to know any reliable local fixers or guides who arrange travel or know how to navigate this route safely, I would love to get in touch.
Any insights, recent updates, or advice would be hugely appreciated!

Peace be upon you all. As I was watching news covering the latest updates on the pushback against the Houthis, I couldn't help but wonder what the country would be like had Ibrahim Al Hamdi not been assassinated. We would probably be in a better situation, but we'll never truly know.
I know that he is beloved in the North and viewed as a martyr. I personally admire him for his efforts to develop the country, but most of the Yemenis I see praising him are also northerners like me. I'm curious: do any southerners support Al- Hamdi as well?
looking at the map it seems that the Saudi-backed Yemeni forces gains stalled and they didnt even manage to recapture Mokha like they announced on the news

Drop your favorites. I didn’t grownups with Yemeni or Arabic music in general, I mean for starters I didn’t understand the context. When it comes to Yemeni music they aren’t my top tiers because all I have ever listened to were the ones with autotunes.
But when it comes to Gulf music? I absolutely DO NOT enjoy them. All their songs are the same tropes and their beats are slow and boring. At least Yemen طبل got passion.
The only 2 Arabic songs I have ever enjoyed my entire life til this day are “My Blood is Palestinian” and the iconic “Bab Al-Harra” theme music. What they have in common are that Arab aesthetics, instruments and the fierce passion behind it.

Hi everyone!
I'm currently writing my thesis about the ongoing conflict in Yemen, and I'm hoping to connect with Yemenis who would be willing to share their experiences, opinions, or perspectives.
Unfortunately, I've been struggling to find people to speak with, so I thought Reddit might be a good place to ask.
I'm particularly interested in understanding how the conflict has affected everyday life and how Yemenis themselves view the current situation.
Participation would be completely voluntary, and I fully respect everyone's privacy and safety. There's no need to share personal details or anything that could put you at risk.
If you're Yemeni and willing to help, or if you know any communities or platforms where I could connect with Yemenis, I'd really appreciate your advice!
Feel free to comment below or send me a private message.
Thanks in advance for your help!
