The head finally responded to my email regarding everything but had a super vague reply telling me that she's been in contact and suggests that I email my prof for further steps. I am frustrated because I don't know what they've talked about or whether this is even going to change anything. I sent a reply back:
"Thank you for getting back to me.
Before I contact my professor again, could you clarify what to expect? Specifically, will she accept a self-declaration for my concession, as the Senate policy on academic concessions allows, or should I expect to be asked for documentation again?
I’d like to keep a good working relationship with my professor and I raised this only because the request for documentation didn’t align with the policy I’d been directed to by other instructors. I requested the concession on compassionate grounds and understood a self-declaration would be sufficient. I’m also happy to meet or have you joined the conversation if that would help resolve it smoothly.
If it’s helpful, I can share the specific policy language I’m referring to.
Thank you again for your help."
Is this a good message? Should I reach out to other profs to vouch for me? I feel really powerless and this makes me not want to go into class knowing that I might be looked at like a liar or someone purposely making their life hard. I have proof that I've gone to my counselling appointment but why should I need to provide that when it's my right by policy to not require it. Am I over-reacting? Is there any prof who would be wiling to help me?
