Hey everyone!
I installed three TP-Link Deco X55 units in my new house a few months ago, but I’m experiencing random disconnections and inconsistent speeds.
My setup:
- All Deco units are connected directly to my ISP router via Ethernet.
- They’re roughly 10 meters apart, with multiple walls in between.
- Operating in Access Point mode (same issues in Router mode).
- Internet plan: 200 Mbps.
The issues:
- Deco units randomly turn red and lose connection, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes for 5–10 minutes.
- They don’t all disconnect simultaneously.
- Inconsistent speeds occasionally cause buffering while streaming.
I’ve tested the Ethernet cables by connecting them directly to my computer, bypassing the Deco units, and they work without any issues.
I’ve also disabled Wi-Fi on my ISP router as I’ve read that it can interfere with the deco network.
At my previous address, I had 100 Mbps without any Deco units and never experienced these issues. I need a reliable connection for gaming and video calls, so this is getting frustrating.
I’m not very knowledgeable about networking, and ChatGPT hasn’t been much help so far 😅
Any ideas what could be causing this? Could it be the Deco units themselves or a configuration issue?
Thanks very much in advance!
