• Info/Requirements

As my title says, I am leaving the Apple Ecosystem and while I am perfectly content with keeping the MacBook, I would like to see what my options are for something comparable with my use case and needs.

One thing I would like to point is, is that I would love to have a more sleek, professional casing for the laptop. This isn't a full requirement but more of a nice to have. I like that I can bring the MacBook anywhere and it doesn't look like a gaming monster.

So, my last gaming laptop was an MSI GE75 Raider 10se. Excellent laptop performance wise. Absolute shit build wise. But, I still have 64gb of DDR4 memory, and multiple SSD's (both NVME and 2.5") that I'd love to use. Can anyone recommend me a good laptop from that time? (I'd like to avoid MSI though if possible. I don't trust their hinges.)

This was my old laptop.

Again, great performance, terrible hinges. (And touchpad)

As the title says, looking for the best office laptop that can also be used for gaming in the EU region. They are required to come with Dell pro support, which
Currently looking at:

- Dell XPS 16 Creator Edition with NVIDIA RTX Spark N1X, 18 Core and NVIDIA Blackwell RTX 5120.
- Dell XPS 16 with Intel Ultra 7 and Nvidia RTX 5070/5060/5050
- Alienware? Though these do slowly venture into the realm of "too obviously a gaming laptop"

Any other recommendations for the price (pre-tax) are much appreciated, as I am very much unaware of what's out there.

Hi, I am in Europe. I've been looking for an old laptop that would be tiny enough for easy travel (weight isn't a problem as the screen size is, I'd like a display size to be 10.1 inches and under). I mostly wish to play old games on it (Let's say earliest 3d games would be the most I would go for), watch movies and try out old software on it. I know where to find these laptops for up to 50$, but I wanted to see which ones you would suggest I get that would run windows 7 pretty smoothly and could last long.

Bonus points (None of these are a necessity): If you can play dvds and cd's on it, if it has a touch screen that'd be cool as well as I like drawing digitally (the least important on the list), hdmi port is always a plus, VGA one as well. If it can run windows 7 OS and a lighter Linux distro (dual boot), the longer the battery life and disk space the better and I absolutely accept used and refurbished laptops.

Budget: $1,090 USD /HK$8,500 max Buying used Country: Hong Kong Use Case: School (Cloud Computing major - projects and studying), Mixed gaming (GTA V, FIFA). Preferred Specs: i9-14900HX, RTX 4070, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 3.2K Screen (Lenovo Legion 7 16IRX9) Notes: Buying a used laptop face-to-face It's a US import (water good), the warranty expired in Oct 2025, and there is no receipt. Seller wants HK$9,600 $1,260 USD, but I plan to offer HK$8,500 $1,090 USD max. so i do hv some questions...

1. Is this a good deal or too risky without warranty?

2. Will it handle my needs like gaming + school + 5h battery for light work?

3. Any known motherboard issues with this specific model I should test for before buying?

Im looking at this laptop for light gaming and general use. I'd be playing games like fortnite and games in 10's area. Like Left 4 Dead. Also you do some emulating

Hey everyone,

I'm currently looking for a ultra-portable laptop for university and freelancing (mostly short-form content editing like Reels/TikToks, light color grading, and daily tasks).

The HP OmniBook 7 Aero (AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 / Radeon 840M / 100% sRGB display) seems to hit almost every single sweet spot for me:

Extremely lightweight (< 1kg) for daily commuting.

Native x86 compatibility with zero emulator/plugin headaches in Premiere Pro / CapCut (unlike ARM alternatives like Snapdragon X1-26-100).

Great color accuracy and build quality.

The only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger is the 16GB soldered RAM (LPDDR5x).

Since it's non-upgradable, I'm trying to evaluate how much of a constraint this will be over the next 3–4 years. From my workflow, 1080p and light 4K short-form edits usually hover around 10–12GB of RAM usage. Plus, I already have a desktop at home for heavier rendering or complex projects.

For those using modern Ultrabooks with fast 16GB soldered memory for video editing and daily college use:

Has the 16GB limit ever genuinely choked your workflow?

Is sacrificing upgradability a reasonable trade-off to get a sub-1kg chassis with an accurate screen and all-day battery life?

Would love to hear your thoughts and practical experiences!

Good servicing and long term value (4 years) should be reliable.

I need rtx 5050 or 5060. Intel core i7 or more. 13th or 14th gen. Idk much about laptop specs but I will js say I want it for vfx editing and animation or 3d sculpting like blender that's why I want rtx 5050 or 5060. And I also want smooth gaming asf. Im seeing loq but idk much asus tuf prices are way too much. I'm confused in omen because of heating issues and many people said that sometimes cooling pads don't help heating issues of omen. Alienware was a option but ngl I'm into aesthetics and that laptop does NOT look good 😭 . I live in India and my budget is 1.6 -1.7 lakh in Indian rupees.

Not a big tech guy but I’m looking for a laptop and I know next to nothing about them. My current laptop is an extremely old dell from about 2010 it’s a brick and is starting to crash. I will be doing basic work, streaming movies , Microsoft word and etc. I don’t want to spend more than 5-600$ my main concern is I don’t want it to be slow,

Are either of these a good option
