I’m old, is this ironic or is this a totenkopf?

Went to a show at Off Broadway* and saw this skull with really bolty looking SS’s in the glasses, is this parody or was there a notsee at the show? He had a mask on and left early.

Edit: I alerted the light guy and front desk. I asked three people at the show if I was overreacting. I also group chatted my close friends and they didn’t even know what a totenkopf was. Fuck that guy

Second edit: Free Palestine and fuck bigots in all their forms.

Hello St. Louis Reddit,

My partner and I make catnip filled "toasted ravioli" and thought I would share on here! You will find my partner most weekend at Tower Grover Farmer's, but this is the last weekend for regular market. We have gotten our website up and running if you're unable to make it to market or would like to send some to a loved kitty elsewhere!

Our cat toys are made as sustainably as possible. Secondhand felt from City Sewing Room and organic catnip from Local Harvest.

Hope to see you at market this weekend!

Brentwood Fixed the Flooding —Then Used It to Justify Taking Businesses

Brentwood, Missouri has designated blocks of the Manchester Road Corridor as blighted, a first step in an envisioned plan to redevelop the neighborhood. Several small businesses are fighting those blight designations in court with the Institute for Justice (IJ) to prevent their locations from being subject to eminent domain.

Ask STL Eminent Domain In Clayton

Does anyone know what the deal with the city of Clayton trying to use eminent domain on the corner of Shaw Park and Brentwood?

They are trying to raze my mom's building and others right there because they aren't "modern enough."

Yet, they aren't going after the Bethesda Barclay House nursing home next door.

This is a tough situation for my mom as her unit alone has had to undergo three different renovations from water damage in the last few years. She's also 85 and in poor health currently. As a family, we hate the place, but it isn't right that they are trying to force her out of her home.

Ask STL Living situation for a lower support needs autistic young adult

This may be a long shot, but I’m looking for literally any advice or leads on resources possible. So, somebody close to me in my family is at a loss. Their 26 year old low to medium support needs autistic son has reached an age where he needs to move out. His parents are older and very disconnected from any resources or other families in their situation.

A group home with 24/7 care is too high intensity for his needs, but it would not be ideal for him to live entirely alone. He lived independently at his dorm while attending college, but he is graduating soon, and they are unsure where to go next. He gets a modest but helpful amount of SSI and can hold a part time job. He needs a better job soon, as he works on his campus part time.

Is anybody aware of any groups for parents of autistic adults, any lower support needs living set ups, any advice on where to go next in general? I think he would thrive with a roommate or two who are also “high functioning” (outdated terminology, I know) young autistic men with a once in a while check in from an aid. What he really needs is a dorm, but adult version. Although I know that doesn’t exist. His parent’s home is becoming a toxic and unsafe environment, and I would really like to help them come to a solution on his living arrangement as he is pretty desperate to get out at this point

Hot Salami

Okay STL natives... gotta ask about this sandwich. I've lived here for two years and decided today to try the famous hot salami sandwich from Giola's. First bite... not what I was expecting. Second bite... trying to determine if what I was tasting was clove or allspice and realizing this was not my thing, I decided to approach the third with the mindset of a hungry working man grabbing a needed meal in the early 20th century and still, I just couldn't find anything I appreciated about the sandwich except its history. Does nostalgia do most of the work when eating this? The texture to me, was of a boiled meatloaf, maybe made with organ meat, soft with softer bread with a slap of raw onion. Help me understand the appeal.

Ask STL Who can my students write letters to?

I am planning a unit in my middle school class on letter writing. I want it to be real.

I would like to pick out 3-4 organizations that my students can write to. It doesn't need to be a pen pal situation or anything, just something fun that can give someone in need a smile. Bonus points if I could get a list of actual people to write to.

Any ideas? We are doing this around Thanksgiving.

Politics St. Louis Daily Newsletter: Democrats' Hope Soar Over CD 2 Polling

Source: https://info.stlmag.com/daily-newsletter-102826

Another day, another indication of a tightening race in Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District. Yesterday, acclaimed pollster Larry Sabato moved the race from "leans Republican" to “tossup." Perhaps not coincidentally, incumbent U.S. Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Ballwin), who’s held the seat for 13  years, has been hammering Democrat Fred Wellman in TV ads that show him describing himself as a “liberal” and a “progressive.” In a recent interview with St. Louis Public Radio’s Jason Rosenbaum, Wagner professed to have no regrets on her votes against curbing Trump’s war powers, despite the unpopularity of the ongoing war with Iran. “I believe that this will come to a quick end,” she told Rosenbaum. —S.F.

Hey, anyone interested in zines, there's a local free zine fest in November at the St Louis County Library. I went last year and it was small but very cool.
