Mod Announcement❗ Stop Posting Lease Takeovers

I turned off cross posts. Anyone past this point who posts a lease takeover gets a nice 30 day ban.

Go to the housing sub.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Rant/Vent💚 Aviation Management majors, be real with me...

Is this degree useless for airline management? I keep on applying and getting final rounds of interviews but I still keep on getting passed up by MBA majors, business majors, CS majors, etc.

I felt this for a very long time, as far back as my first day at purdue, but my fears are confirmed, and that is that this major is kinda useless if you want to work on the corporate side for an airline. I ignored it bc I was like "well if you havent tried it you wont know, maybe you'll do amazing and get a lot of offers"

Come to right now I realize I was right all along, and I am starting to regret attending Purdue. Low quality classes, no data analysis skills, most of the content pretains to airports and the operations side of airlines, not business analytics which is important for roles like revenue management and network planning.

I feel super hopeless. Combined with my family's financial situation and personal life stressors, I feel like I am failing and end up flipping burgers after I graduate...

But I guess, I leave the floor up to you. For people in airline management, has purdue helped you? Or is this program as bad as it feels to me right now?

Question❓ Seeking advice as a freshman

Hi everyone! I wanted to see if anyone had advice for a freshman who is having a rough time right now. I’m majoring in Pre-Pharmacy so my course load right now is pretty heavy, especially since I took a lot of dual credit and high school and am taking classes for my second year. I haven’t done the best on exams, despite going to tutoring, SI sessions, doing review questions, especially for CHEM129 and BIO110. The bad grades on top of the constant academic stress is really getting to me emotionally. I feel like I have no time for myself or friends because I’m always trying to get work done or get extra help to try and understand. I’m really passionate about becoming a pharmacist, but I’m starting to question if this is just too much. I’m like wow if I can’t handle my first semester how am I going to handle the rest. If anyone felt this way their first semester, didn’t have the best semester academically could you share some advice? I’m not failing classes, but my lowest grade is a C+ in bio. I’m just wondering if anyone could share some advice on what I can do to either perform better for exams other than what I’m already doing and/or how to stop feeling so sad and overwhelmed 24/7.

Question❓ Question about JMHC Prompt #4

4. Leadership Development
Describe a leadership experience you have had in your school or community. How did this shape your approach to leadership? (200 word maximum)

When it says community, does it mean local, or could it be something u did statewide with other students? Like i guess my question is how large of a commuinty?

Rant/Vent💚 Some people don’t deserve to be here

Oh my god tell me why the lines at Windsor today stretched across the ocean, because I waited 30 minutes in line for some grilled cheese right? Not even exaggerating btw— but the line finally moved forward and them greedy asses at the front of the line began stacking the grilled cheese like legos, but that’s understandable cus they have been waiting for a long time like me. Anyways, my time finally came and there was one grilled cheese left on that table— yes, a blessing from a heaven— and then a random fucking guy cut the line in front of me and grabbed that sandwich with his bare hands and I yelled “bro wtf????”. Unfortunately this abomination left before I could do anything and he was wearing headphones too and holy shit I regretted not squaring up so bad. You know sometimes there’s assholes in the world that will steal your grilled cheese which makes me wonder how people like that even got into Purdue.

Question❓ Anyone around Purdue good with cars? Could really use some help

My Toyota Corolla recently broke down and won't start at all. When I turn the key, nothing happens. A friend and I tried checking the battery, and it seems fine. We also tried jump-starting it, but unfortunately that didn't work either.

I don't really know anyone around here who's good with cars, so I figured I'd ask here. If anyone has experience working on cars and could help me figure out what's wrong, or at least get it started temporarily so I can drive it to a mechanic, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm more than happy to pay you something for your time and help if you can get it running!

Feel free to comment or DM me if you think you could help. Thanks!

Question❓ Sewing Help

I need a little help fixing up some old clothes that are wearing out on me and I have some patches that need to be sewn on. I don't have the skills to do either job well right now, and I would love to have someone with a sewing machine do the job right. Are there any good tailors around or someone on campus who'd be willing to help me out?

Hello!

So my group and I made an error and we forgot to fill out the honors housing form that would guarantee us honors housing. Can we email them and be on a waitlist or something or what would be a solution?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you so much!

Question❓ Has anyone found a way to break their lease with these evil property management companies?

These rental management companies that run basically every property around Purdue are such a nightmare to deal with. I'm currently renting with BK Management, and unfortunately they're even worse than when I used to live in a Granite property. I graduate in December and am moving back to my home state, but my lease goes until July, and I can't find anyone to sublet. Has anyone figured out a way to break their lease with these evil property management companies?

They won't even forgo my fixed $150 utility fee for the months where I won't be on the premises. I can't afford to keep paying this on top of my already way too high rent every month. According to them, there is no fee or anything that I can pay to break the lease early. I know there are a lot of elements in my lease that are actually illegal, but I don't think any of that is grounds to leave. If anyone has been in a similar situation (or know someone who has), I would love to hear how you were able to get out of a lease or at least lessen the crushing costs.

for rising sophomores that selected their housing today, are there still suites like freida or winifred left? does the portal reserve small portions of each dorm for each time slot or is everything first come first serve based on luck?

Res Halls & Dining✏️ Housing question

So I signed up for reapplication and apparently I chose the express placement option where it just places me automatically. I’m in a good dorm but me and my roommate were planning on living together again next year and I’m just wondering if I was gonna try and change my assignment on the 30th if we would still have a chance to room together?
