Offseason Thread - Week of 26 Oct 2026
Offseason thread for the week: news, rumours and anything else.
Discussion Six players from the 2023 Orioles appeared in game 4 of this World Series
None of them started but Mullins, Mateo, Ortiz, Hall, Baker, and Wells all got on the field tonight
I know it’s been discussed that many former O’s are on the rosters but just thought this was kinda neat

News Cedric!
Nice to see Cedric get not only an appearance, but a pinch hit in the WS. Good guy. Just never lived up to that one 30/30 season of 2021. Always hustles. I still wear his jersey proudly.

History I'd never heard of this guy before....Gus Triandos!

OK, so I've only been following the Orioles since they drafted Adley (as a fellow OSU Beav). And I'm still supporting the team. But that means I'd never heard of Gus Triandos before. And he definitely does not look like "a little kid that got left at the bus station by his parents".
Anyone know what the story is on Gus with regards to being written into one of the best shows of all time?
I get it, this is offseason stuff, but that's OK. The conversation about why we can't make contact and get on base like the Brewers can wait for another day. And yes, I'm with you in that the analytics only support lifting the ball if it doesn't result in a lot more outs. Making an out can lose up to a run in EV, depending on the situation. So perhaps driving the ball make a ton of sense with 2 outs and nobody on, when a guy on 1st doesn't add much EV run value, but with 1 out and guys on 1st and 3rd, just try to get a damn hit! An out is worth -0.8 runs here. A homer is great but only if it happens frequently.

roundtable.ioElite outfielder, high OBP, fills a few Orioles needs, although only one year left before free agency. What do you think a reasonable offer from the Os would look like?

Article [Jim Bowden]: Top 40 MLB free agents for 2026-27: Contract predictions, team fits for Skubal, Peralta, more
nytimes.comThoughts on this? The O’s are projected as the top landing spot for Rodgers on a projected 3 year deal, but aren’t listed as a landing spot for any of the other players on the list.

Rays fans are an embarrassment and don’t deserve their team.
To have a chance to win your first EVER championship and games 3 and 4 are 40-50% Brewers fans in their stadium is an absolute abomination and a travesty. What an embarrassing showing for Tampa fans. Imagine having the best team in the AL that plays such an exciting brand of baseball, and you’re such a (literally) poor fanbase that you’re scalping your tickets to make a couple grand. Gross.

Anyone know the autograph?
This is a practice ball that I got signed probably over 10 years ago. No idea who signed it and would love any guesses as to who did. Thanks so much!
History Thrift Store Find!
Unfortunately, no autographed baseball card inside. But for $1.50, I’ll take it. Anybody ever read this? Looking forward to taking a glance. Sit it next to my Earl Weaver book (starting to build a collection).

Signature ID Help
We are cleaning out my mom's house and my brother gave me this ball. I believe the signature on the bottom is Mickey Tettleton. On the opposite sides are Brooks and Frank Robinson. It would have been signed at a baseball card convention in the late 80s/early 90s when Frank was managing. Any ideas who this could be?

Discussion You're GM for a day: add ONE former Oriole (prime version) to the 2026 roster. Who gets us a 2027 ring?
After how 2026 ended, I need something to argue about besides the bullpen.
The rules:
1. The 2026 roster comes back exactly as it was for 2027.
2. You add one former Oriole, at his peak, for the full season.
My pick: prime Mike Mussina. One problem was keeping a rotation healthy and dependable. Having a true ace start Game 1 of a playoff series changes everything. Cal and Frank would be amazing, but I think the lineup is good enough already, so pitching wins for me.

youtu.beDiscussion A bunch of former O’s heading to the World Series - who do you have winning?
Brewers featuring DL Hall, Joey Ortiz, and Gary Sanchez while Orioles South (Rays) have Cedric Mullins, Tyler Wells, Brian Baker, and Jorge Mateo.
As much as I don’t like the idea of a division rival winning, I would love to see Ced with a ring.
Edit: Man, Rays have even more orange in their blood than I could remember off the top of my head - thanks for pointing out Cole Sulser and Brandon Hyde (front office)

Pete Alonso Feature Story
Hey Orioles Reddit! I'm a Baltimore-based journalist covering the team and just wanted to share my most recent story, a feature on Pete Alonso that highlights how he kept the ship as steady as he could throughout another disappointing season. Please let me know your thoughts! https://pressboxonline.com/2026/10/14/pete-alonso-ready-to-carry-lessons-from-year-1-with-orioles/

thebanner.comThe sculptures are by Toby Mendez who, as you may remember, did the statues in Legends Park back in 2012. I remember Earl Weaver thanked him for making him "look like Buck."
