Advice Am I good enough?

• Upvotes

Hey so I am planning on applying to UBC and I am not sure if I am qualified enough. I have around a 33/42 predicted in IB my classes are History HL, Economics HL, English HL, Math AA SL, ..... So you get the point. I have so much ECS but not really regarding the major I want to pick which is BCom. I did an internship at a bank this summer and was a student council treasurer. I held many events like Tedx and stuff but I feel like my grades are dragging me down. What do you think? The admissions officer said to apply to Okanagan campus instead for a better chance.

Advice Advanced Functions

• Upvotes

If ya'll doing bad in AF...please drop that before midterms cuz your grades gonna be uploaded to OCAS. If you really need AF, then try to do it during night school next semester or whatever. Don't let this mess up your avg.

According to some guidance counselors: All course drops must be made by Nov. 23rd.

Advice Competitive Average for electrical engineering at UofT/Waterloo

Not gonna lie I started off the year unfocused so my midterm is going to be iffy 97 chem 96 functions 95 physics, (i have online bio from summer 96), last year had a 92 in english which kinda bringing me down but the rest were high 90s.

Does an average around this stay competitive for programs like EE at Waterloo or UofT? my final marks will def be closer to a 98 in all just need more assessments but midterms are kinda cooked.

My ECs are average/good work 35+ hrs a week, had an internship, sc vice pres, ran tutoring business among other things

Not sure anymore where I stand since the minimmum average increasing

Advice Laurier BBA chances

What are my chances to get accepted early admissions/b4 my final grades. I am asking this because my calc teacher is doing sum weird grade thing for midterms where they drop our lowest mark in each section. Long story short, my grade goes from a 90 —> 95. With that I am looking to get accepted early admissions since this grade thing is only for midterms and they are basically “ghosting” the mark, not getting rid of it perma.

Grades: - top 6
English 11 : 91
Adv Func: 93
Calc: 95
BBB: 94
BOH (online Private) : 97
Econ: 89
so roughly
93 average.

Ec’s are Rotman presentation comp winner and two jobs related to working with kids and investment club vice president and member of robotics and deca provs x2. + best in school for physics comp. + basic volunteering stuff total 60 hrs

What are the chances or things I should do to get in b4 the January? Lmk thx 🥸

University Moving

Hello.
As a bit of background, i had a 96ish average is grade 11, along with a 96 in HSE4M and an 86 in SPH4U. In the summer between grade 11 and 12 i moved to the united states but as a canadian citizen im still applying to ontario unis. My grade 12 average currently is a 93.8 and im assuming it will stay around there. It’s fallen as i found the grade inflation to be smaller here and my rigor went up and im taking a lot more courses to graduate than i would in ontario. With that being said, 1) if i took the 4U/4M course in grade 11 do they automatically count towards my top 6? My physics grade is my worst one in highschool so id prefer if it stayed off. 2) will the change in rigor be considered or do we think it will look like my grades dropped. I’m applying to healthsci programs btw. Thank you for your help!

University Im lowkey getting FOMO from everyones uni acceptances

Ok so im 17F, and i keep seeing people getting accepted into universities recently. I applied to 5 (Queens, York, Guelph, Western, and Carleton) all for the BA psychology program, and no acceptance or anything from any of them. Before anyone comes for my throat, yes ik these things can take time but unfortunately I am not someone who radiates patience, and I am at my last stretch of patience (shocking I’ve made it this long), so yeah lol. Any words of encouragement would be so helpful.

University Will i get in for laurier BBA

I currently have an 83 average right now, though it is really earlier and im expecting around 87-89 range with good extra curricular. Do you think this is enough or should i really go the extra mile for higher im stressing out a little about this. Also will my grade 11 marks matter?? I did quite poor as i was a joke last year but im not doing early admission so how important is it?

University McMaster grades

I heard people mentioning top 3 for McMaster for rounds before sem 2 midterms. How does this work? Let’s say for eng u have eng, calc, chem, phys and 2 electives as ur pre reqs. Would they use 3 gr 12 pre reqs u have available or if u have more but they aren’t pre reqs would they use those as a substitute? Basically what marks does top 3 use for McMaster

Advice Fast tracking Grade 12

I’m currently in Grade 10 and planning my Grade 11 and 12 courses. I’m considering applying for SHSM Health and Wellness, which would require me to take co-op in both years.

My planned Grade 12 courses are:
English (ENG4U)
Advanced Functions (MHF4U)
Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U)
Biology (SBI4U)
Chemistry (SCH4U)
Human Development and Family Studies (HHG4M)
Co-op

I’m hoping to pursue a Health Sciences or Life Sciences undergraduate program as a pre-med pathway. Since co-op leaves me with limited room for easier electives, I’m wondering if I should fast-track any courses through summer school to manage my workload and maintain a high average.

Which courses would you recommend taking in summer school, if any? Would it be worth it, or is it better to take everything during the regular school year?

OUAC Should I apply to universities now or wait for my Grade 12 midterm marks? (Early Admission

my main goal is to receive an early admission offer as soon as possible.

I'm planning to apply to Western, Queen's, and Waterloo for Engineering and Physics programs.

My Grade 12 midterm marks for some courses won't be available until November 13 and November 19.

My concern is that if I apply now, universities might review my application using my Grade 11 marks before my stronger Grade 12 marks become available.

I'm not worried about getting rejected. I'm worried about missing the first round of early offers because universities might evaluate my application too early with my Grade 11 marks.

Would it be better to apply now or wait until late November when my Grade 12 midterm marks are available?

If I apply now and don't receive an offer in the first round, could that delay my admission offer compared to applying later with updated Grade 12 marks?

Has anyone experienced this, especially with Western, Queen's, or Waterloo?
