For your admission mark, please use your top 5/6 marks, including prereqs. This often includes gr 11 marks. Universities do not give offers based on your gr 11 average or your gr 12 midterm average or your gr 12 1st semester final marks. It's based on your official top 5/6 marks at the time you got admission. For McMaster in March, this will be your top 3, including prereqs. See here for details: mark considerations.

OUAC YES you should apply now

People, there is no downside to applying now. If your grade 11 marks are even remotely okay, and the programs you apply to have rolling admission, you may be surprised! But even if not, just apply now. There is no real way to 'game' the system. Schools will see your grade 11 marks and your grade 12 marks. They use a combination to evaluate your average so you never know. And that peace of mind you have with getting even one single early offer (even from a backup to the backup) is amazing. But honestly, it will only get busier from here on out for us. Just apply.

University Im lowkey getting FOMO from everyones uni acceptances

Ok so im 17F, and i keep seeing people getting accepted into universities recently. I applied to 5 (Queens, York, Guelph, Western, and Carleton) all for the BA psychology program, and no acceptance or anything from any of them. Before anyone comes for my throat, yes ik these things can take time but unfortunately I am not someone who radiates patience, and I am at my last stretch of patience (shocking I’ve made it this long), so yeah lol. Any words of encouragement would be so helpful.

Advice Advanced Functions

If ya'll doing bad in AF...please drop that before midterms cuz your grades gonna be uploaded to OCAS. If you really need AF, then try to do it during night school next semester or whatever. Don't let this mess up your avg.

According to some guidance counselors: All course drops must be made by Nov. 23rd.

University UTSC TUD social science chance with low gr 11 average

• Upvotes

im planning to apply to Social Sciences at the University of Toronto scarborough campus, (TUD) and my Grade 11 average was around 60, so I’m really stressed about my chances.
english 11-63
english 12- e learning -85
I also took ENG4U (85) and Data Management (90) in summer school, and Calculus through e-learning. If you were accepted with a similar Grade 11 average, what was your Grade 12 average? Were there other students in a similar situation who got accepted into Social Sciences at U of T St. George? Also, were there any students in a similar situation who got accepted to the Scarborough campus? What advice would you give me?

Other Can You Take 3 Online Private School Courses + 1 Asynchronous Course in One Semester?

• Upvotes

Does anyone know if you’re allowed to take 3 grade 12 courses through online private schools like OV$, OE0 or TV0, and then have 1 asynchronous course through your regular school board during semester 2?

I’m thinking about doing something like this for grade 12 and was wondering if anyone’s actually tried it before. Like would my regular high school allow me to take all 3 courses outside of school while only having 1 asynchronous course through the board? Or would there be issues with being considered a full-time student, attendance, guidance approval or university applications?

Also how does the marking work for online private school courses? Are assignments marked as strictly as regular school, how long does it usually take to get marks back, and do you get opportunities to improve your work based on feedback? I’m aiming for a really high average so I’m tryna understand how different the experience actually is.

And for anyone who’s done multiple online courses at once, was the workload manageable? Could you complete them at your own pace or were there deadlines you had to follow?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s done something similar or knows how it works in Ontario because I genuinely have no idea if this is even possible 😭

University I made a free way to chance yourself using ~30,000 publicly posted admission results

There are endless "chance me" posts here, so I made a way to check it yourself. I put about 30,000 publicly posted admission results from the last three years in one place: https://acceptme.io/chances/

Type your average (or your courses, and it works out your top 6), pick programs, and for each one you get:

  • where your average sits among people who posted an offer for that program, Fall 2024 to 2026
  • the whole spread of averages that got in, not one "cutoff"
  • when offers usually came out
  • what the school itself publishes (minimums, admitted averages)

It won't give you a % chance. Rejections barely get posted, so any percentage would be made up. Instead it tells you something like "Most people who got in had 93.9 or higher. You're about 2 points below that."

Where the data's from: admission results people posted publicly online, Fall 2024 to 2026. People who get in post way more than people who don't, so treat it as the best case. 173 programs have enough offers posted (20+) to show where you sit. Smaller programs might not have enough yet.

Being upfront: it's on the site of a product I'm building called AcceptMe, but Chance Me is separate and completely free, with no account and no email. There are a few links to AcceptMe on the page, but you don't need them for anything here.

If a program's numbers look off, comment and I'll check it. Hope it helps a bit with the waiting. Good luck this year!

University Credit deletion?

Hi I finished mhf and eng4u with a combined average of 91, problem is I took RCM exam and got the credit on my transcript with a 77 (the credit is 4m), will early admissions see my 77? And should I request guidance to remove the credit? I think it’ll harm my chances for early. I have enough credits and prereqs to graduate I’m just worried and don’t want to stress about admissions very late into 2nd semester. Applying for mech eng btw

Any advice is appreciated

Advice Am I good enough?

Hey so I am planning on applying to UBC and I am not sure if I am qualified enough. I have around a 33/42 predicted in IB my classes are History HL, Economics HL, English HL, Math AA SL, ..... So you get the point. I have so much ECS but not really regarding the major I want to pick which is BCom. I did an internship at a bank this summer and was a student council treasurer. I held many events like Tedx and stuff but I feel like my grades are dragging me down. What do you think? The admissions officer said to apply to Okanagan campus instead for a better chance.

Advice It's suddenly dawning on me I may not want to do STEM

Hey guys, so I'm having a bit of a crisis right now. My whole life I've basically been told I'm gonna go into STEM so I never considered having any other option. Well come grade 12 and my parents are actually kinda chill??? Point is, I've been taking science and math for the past 2 years, I've already sent my OUAC list (biochem, chem, and ecology programs) and now at the worst possible time, I'm wondering if pure science is what I really want.

I'm not really sure how to explain this but 70% of the time, thinking of studying pure science in uni makes me sick to my stomach. I just don't think I'm cut out for it. It may be because my chemistry teacher this year SUCKS and last year I really wanted to study chemistry in uni, and also seeing how most STEM majors have no life outside of school. My parents are somewhat traditional, and like I said, I never considered a career outside of STEM and I have horrible self-esteem. It's why I never pursued art further even though I've been dreaming of writing comics and just making art in general since I was a kid. I guess it's also worth mentioning that I may be depressed. I don't have an official diagnosis, but I've been showing symptoms for almost 3 years now. All in all, I'm barely eating, I've lost tons of weight, high school science itself is stressing me to an almost breaking point , literally everything makes me cry (I can barely enjoy shows, even anime like JJK and literal BLUE LOCK make me sad) and to be honest, I'm worried if I choose a degree I don't like/choose pure science, I may end up hurting myself.

So, what do I do? Should I:
1. try applying to architecture programs (even though I'd have to cook up a portfolio in 3 months and what if I end up hating designing buildings?)

  1. look for a STEM and visual arts dual degree (if that's even possible)

  2. go with pure science and do a minor in art or art history

  3. just go with pure science and switch my degree if I can't handle it after first year?

Advice don’t let people tell you what to pursue

This is to the kids that are looking to apply this year, who are going to be surrounded by a bunch of teenagers that only talk about university admissions over the course of this academic year. Do not listen to your dumb friends when they make fun of non-STEM majors. Do not listen to the people trying to convince you that you cannot find work with an arts degree. Do not go into engineering or “premed” if you are not 100% sure that you will enjoy at least some of the content. Do not let people act like you’re stupid just because you are going to college and not a university. Do not let ANYONE convince you you are stupid for what you choose.

Please remember that teenagers are stupid (and I say this basically being one myself). I am one of the people who pursued a degree that I’m not sure I want because everyone around me was convinced that my program was supposed to be a dream program. And I got it easy because I at least want to pursue research in my field, it’s just that I would have had an easier time elsewhere. Don’t be stupid like me. And for the people saying that they can’t pursue a degree they like because of financial limitations, it makes less sense to go to uni because of financial limitations than college. I promise you making a living is not only tied to the conventional degrees everyone promises will give you a good future. I also understand that there are real barriers to choosing something “unconventional”, which is totally valid. But if you have the choice, there is genuinely no point in torturing yourself in a field you hate just because of extremely limited job prospects. I know so many people with masters degrees that never found work, and so many people who never ended up using their bachelors for anything.

Pick something you think you’ll love, do not let anyone convince you that you are lesser than because of your passions.
