My New 3DS XL's top and bottom plates look pretty rough and it's time to swap them out.
It is time to swap the old plates and put in some new.
Any suggestion on where to get proper ones? (preferrably black ones)
I have seen on previous posts, Aliexpress has been mentioned. i have looked around on Aliexpress and it is difficult to tell, which ones are good quality and which aren't.

If anyone has ordered one set recently and does not mind sharing which seller or product it was, I'd really appreciate it.

I got this 3ds some months ago in a *Great* shape, the only thing is that the screen has a few scratches all over.
I was searching for solutions and everyone just says to get a new screen but honestly this one is still very good, just has minimal damage and a new one would cost at least 10 dollars in my country so I was wondering if there's any other way I could give this one a second chance

My 3ds XL have an issue on the touch screen, after many years it now has a big line of dead pixels, not only that but also the touch screen isn’t responding very well and sometime it simply doesn’t work anymore
Is there a way to repair it if I have the right parts

Hello, everyone! Something that just happened to me got me wondering... How do other people hold their DS? Do you hold it differently depending on the model? Share your experiences, visual references welcome (as long as they don't compromise your privacy!)

Long story short, N3DS XL has been my companion for more than a decade now. It seems I got quite used to it, because when I held a N3DS for about 30', I got cramps! It's smaller and lighter and my hands are average, so it was supposed to be the other way around...! Until I noticed I was holding the N3DS the way I always hold the N3DSXL, and that cleared up some concerns. I tried a different grip which was more comfortable for both thumbs, but not as much for the R&L buttons especially... Is there any secret to find the perfect hand position?

On the same note, kinda? If anyone knows any comfort grips (ideally files for 3D printing and not bulky) for non-XL/LL N3DS compatible with hard clear cases, please share! Thanks again!

Hello! I’m new to having a 3ds, always wanted one but never got one :/ until my 16th birthday (last March)! My dad found one that’s quite nice, brand new w/ the box and orginal paper work. Had a few old photos on it and that was it. Originally I decided to ask for this so I could play HeartGold & SoulSilver (suddenly became a massive Pokémon nerd) they’d be my first Pokémon games and I’d find other games to play too. About late last month I’ve become **obsessed** w/ the hobbit. Gonna get into LoTR later. For now, hobbit. So I was ecstatic when I found out abt the Lego hobbit game available for 3ds, just got it, put it in and got ‘required system update’ and realized I never checked what version I was on to begin with. All I know is **2.1.0-0U** came out when I was a single yr old (2011)… the newest version came out 3 yr’s ago (2023).

My question:
What should I know abt 2.1 vs the newest available version?? It’s smart to update right?? Especially if it’ll get in the way of me playing games. And is the 3DS more valuable still being on 2.1. ?

Edit / Update:
So I attempted a system update, 15 yrs of updating I imagined would take a while… though less then 5 min’s in ‘error occurred’… so instead of updating through settings I updated from the game. I’m now on 6.2, I’ll worry abt getting the newest version later, for now, LEGO HOBBIT!!

I know there's some releases on IOS that happened afterwards, but come on, those are just side-meals, this is the game that was meant to send off Frogger with a 3D Bang.

This game has a lot of variety, and it can get real inventive in how to kill a Frog, in fact, it has a whole "Achievements" list mostly dedicated to document all of the horrific ways you get killed.

Though sometimes it feels like it's more concerned with being challenging rather than being fun, to an annoying degree.

It's as if they spent all of their resources making sure the enemies were be equipped to kill Frogger, only to then spend pocket to develop the cues that the player needs to telegraph their patterns.

For example, there's a stage in which they put you on the wing of a military plane, and fill the screen with missiles (4-9 / 10-9).

Not happy with that, they also made the plane itself tilt downwards periodically, but the game doesn't make it clear where you need to be whenever the wing tilts back up, you're just expected to figure it out based on an awkward camera angle.

And even if you DO figure out which tile you need to be in, you have a whole 1 second before you need to hop out of the way of the next missile, but not TOO quickly mind you, or you'll get hit by the missile you were trying to evade originally, it's awful! Especially if you're aiming for that high score! Thank god completition-time isn't a factor.

But if you're willing to overlook a couple of nasty stages, then chances are, you'd be able to get a good kick out of this one.

Hell, the plot of the game is that Frogger's arcade machine has been broken, so he needs to gather energy from around the world through different points in time, in order to ascend to a higher plane of existence, to then slay the original Frogger from 1981 who had already ascended beforehand, take his code and use it to restore the aforementioned arcade cabinet.

Also, said plane of existence is Flat Earth, and it gets destroyed right after Voxel Frogger's demise! ... Flat Earthers have been real quiet ever since.

I bought a n3DS (not XL) recently for cheap because games get stuck in the cartridge slot. Not only the games won't eject but they are very hard to remove, I need a pair of pliers for that. Apart from that, it reads games fine.

I can hear the "clic" inside the slot, but the games don't slide in and out freely. The games also sit lower than they should.

A new slot costs about 5€ but soldering is required (I don't have the confidence to do that myself). A full cartridge slot module costs 20€... Not much worth it imo because I plan to use this system as a beater (thrown in in my backpack, the body is already damaged, I have other, much nicer looking systems at home).

I have some physical games but I can play them on other systems, that's not a big deal.

Does the n3DS work without its game cart slot ? I'm asking because (3)DS systems are notorious for refusing to even boot if something is missing... I'd love to repurpose that space for a BT module and have the pairing buttons stick out there. There's not a lot of free space in there lol.

This thing was traaaaashed when I got it. So it got a much needed makeover! Now it’s time to get a bigger SD for it and mod her up ❤️
