WDRB/WAVE Cut Off the World Series Game in the 10th inning?

Gray Media sucks merging these two together and showing their incompetence by switching over to the news in the middle of the game.

EDIT: Finally got it switched back in the top of the 11th after beginning to show Big Bang Theory

WDRB is ruined.

Have been a big fan of WDRB news and their team for many years, but am I the only one that feels like they have ruined WDRB altogether with this WDRB +WAVE merge?

Is this anyone’s cat in the Springhurst/Bay Pointe neighborhood?

He is missing an ear and his tail is mangled, but he also appears to have been recently shaved on his back side, so I am not sure if this is someone’s cat or not. He’s super friendly!

The WDRB/WAVE merger isn't just bad in theory—it’s actively breaking local TV in real-time.

• Upvotes

Tonight during the 10th inning of a tied World Series game, local master control abruptly cut the live broadcast to force an automated local news block, followed immediately by dead air, glitched commercials that restarted halfway through, and an on-screen score ticker that was two innings behind.
I was watching the game on the 4K feed, so everything played out fine on my end.

But once I saw people posting online about the broadcast dropping, I pulled up my local recording to verify—and sure enough, master control completely dropped the ball.
Don't blame national Fox for this—Fox delivered the live network feed without issue. This was a 100% local operational disaster straight out of South Floyd Street.

When Gray Media acquired these stations and forced two competing newsrooms under one roof, executive PR pitched it as "pooling resources" to create "the region's largest news team." In reality, it’s classic debt-servicing corporate cost-cutting:

  1. Stripping Local Control: They’ve gutted behind-the-scenes engineering and master control staff, opting to rely on rigid, automated timer systems instead of paying human operators to run the board.

2. Master Control Apathy: A competent, well-staffed control room would have manually overridden the news timer to keep the extra-innings game live until the final out. Instead, automated software fired off prematurely while local management was completely asleep at the wheel.

  1. Loss of Accountability: For decades, WDRB and WAVE kept each other sharp through actual newsroom competition. Now that they share a parent company, an assignment desk, and a production hub, there is zero incentive to maintain quality—leaving viewers stuck with a glitchy, amateur product on public airwaves.
Corporate media mergers strip local jobs, eliminate investigative competition, and now can’t even handle the bare minimum of airing a live championship sports broadcast without cutting the feed.

Local management needs to answer for how badly they’ve botched this transition. This is how you burn through viewer trust in record time. This is one way to quickly lose your viewers to WLKY and WHAS.

Voting for Shameka Parish-Wright

With the mayoral election next week I’m genuinely curious about Shameka Parish-Wright. I consider myself decently informed on local politics and I just haven’t heard much from her. What are your opinions on her positions and why should I vote for her?

I really want to hear opinions based on her, not just that Greenberg is bad etc. Why should she be our next mayor?

World Series on WDRB

Did WDRB cut from the world series to show the local news? What is going on? It was going to the bottom of the 10th and I look away and now it's Scott Reynolds. I get broadcast OTA.

Missed Connection

Long shot but I meant a nice group of women at Midnight, Margaritas and Magic at Clifton Tavern last friday. I enjoyed our brief conversation and failed to get your contact info. Jessica, Darcy, and Mimi were their names. I was the guy who sat down with you all and had a sequin witches hat. I'd love to connect with Jessica again. That's all I know lol. Anyhoo, shooting this into the void - here's hoping this finds you.

What business do you drive past and wonder how they’re still open? You never see them have business or if they do it’s one person.

Did you or a loved one lose your walking stick?

I found a very unique walking stick left leaning against a bench at the Nature Center. I waited there for a while and then turned it to lost and found inside the Nature Center.

I thought it was too risky to leave leaning there as I almost took it just thinking cool find. But it's definitely an owned stick.

If this is your lost stick, go in and describe it, and it will be returned.

Hope it finds its owner. What a stick it was.

I was over at the station today and saw they have an outdoor pet chip scanner to use I guess if you find a lost pet. That’s pretty cool.

Publix

• Upvotes

So today my friend and I finally made it way out to Publix off Old Henry. For ages you constantly hear people singing the praises of this place. Now I will say the cheese selection is crazy huge. The soup and salad bar is amazing, along with the wings and Chinese food bar. But I'm sorry. Kroger has Publix beat on prices. At least on stuff I buy. Also Publix, why don't you put the prices of your products in the app (some products do have prices)? And some places in the store, products have no prices.

So all in all Publix just isn't for me. Plus it's like 20 miles from where I live.

Knocked Loose's Louisville Banner

Commercial building owners! The city would like to acknowledge Knocked Loose here in Louisville. If you're not familiar with them, they opened for Metallica on their european tour, nominated for a grammy, and they come from our town! I think it's a great opportunity for owners to get involved with the banner, as it will help put them on the map, the city will do a big roll out with the Mayor, it'll be fun. Any suggestions or plugs?
