serious hot take A parent can make their child slow by being slow themselves. That’s why slow people shouldn’t have kids.

If you’re intellectually slow or lack any basic common sense, then you shouldn’t have kids as a scatter brained individual. It’s unhealthy for your child to grow up around that slowness.

serious hot take For some reason, progressive spaces love body shaming people

Post image
• Upvotes

I wish it wasn't the case, but it's like there's a group of people in a lot of progressive spaces that are just ready to go ham and body shame the fuck out of someone at a moment's notice. Like all the theory they've read and all the rhetoric about empathy the progressive movement preaches melts and runs out of their ears the moment they see a chance to body shame someone they dislike--even if the person they are body shaming is a bad person.

gender I feel insulted as a man when someone makes the excuse for another man (usually for some kind of SH or SA) along the lines of "well what do you expect he's a man!"

• Upvotes

I'm an 18 year old male and while I have admittedly have made mistakes I have never nor will ever make a the mistake of hurting someone sexually. However whenever a man assaults a women sexually people often come in with a flurry of excuses to defend his actions. One of the most annoying I usually see is "well he saw her and she was dressed like than, what do you expect a man to do?" And it likes oh idk BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING AND NOT ASSAULT HER? Not only do these excuses try to justify and normalize these shitty behaviors I feel like it paints a bad picture for men all around the world. Many men aren't like that, they don't just suddenly lose all composure or sense of right and wrong around a women, because they are normal well adjusted people. However men like that and people who make these excuses make all men out to be people who couldn't possibly be held responsible for their actions because they are just hormonal animals who operate on instinct. However they also make the claim that men are the only people fit to be leaders since "women are too emotional to make big decisions". So which is it? Are men just animals who couldn't ever be held to accountable for their actions because of their primal instincts? Or are they "the only people fit to lead because of their calm composed nature?" You can't have your cake and eat it too. It doesn't matter your gender, age, race, whatever. People who do bad and harmful things all need to be held to the same standard. A great place to start would be holding men who harm women sexually accountable and letting it be known that men who do that are knowledgeable and in control of their actions but choose to do it anyway.

NUCLEAR hot take The gender wars in this sub are the canary in coal mine

• Upvotes

If 1 guy complains, most people dont give a shit, if 10,000 guys complain, people still dont give a shit but if a whole sub is stating the same inequality then theres clearly an issue here that people are being ignorant about.

Yes men and women are bad but in this day and age with our current technologies, if you give a man too much power he may or may not use it for good/bad but if you give women the tech they will most likely use it for bad, not all cases but many many many cased(dating apps, HR/hiring, judges etc.)

This isnt supposed to shit on women please do not take it that way but putting certain people in power positions(like trump) then they will misuse it for the wrong reasons. At the same time, yes it is overwhelming when zionists create dating apps designed to skew women to the best zionist matches and destroy all the other men.

Hate me or not there is a problem here and we need to listen to men for the first time and hear their issues.

NUCLEAR hot take Openly lusting over women is cringe

• Upvotes

Reddit is a great example. Someone posts a picture of a celebrity with a big ass. 90% of the comments are men celebrating themselves for being horny. Loser behaviour.

I guess it could also be the other way around but not nearly as much as it is for men lusting over women.

To me it feels like this is happening way more online than it is IRL and I don't understand the mindset behind men like that.

casual hot take Onlyfans is dystopian

• Upvotes

A lot of people treat OnlyFans like just another slightly gross corner of the internet like something you acknowledge exists and maybe shake your head at, and then move on. 😭

To me it’s a step further it feels genuinely DYSTOPIAN . The same person you might see casually posting about politics or sports can, for five dollars a month, turn around and sell you access to watching them perform elaborate humiliation rituals. We’re talking feet content, piss, shit, the whole spectrum of degradation, packaged and monetized like it’s some subscription service.

That gap is what makes it so unsettling. This’s how my mind sees it: one click and you go from “this person has opinions about the election” to “this person will degrade themselves on camera for a modest monthly fee.” It’s not just weird or sad. It’s a quiet example of how completely the internet has erased the line between someone’s public persona and the most private kinds of self humiliation… and somehow made that feel totally normal. Also, I the reason I felt it’s a “hot take” is because my friends keep arguing that it’s just prostitution , not dystopian.

I don’t know this’s just my take… please don’t cancel my ass. 😍🫰🏻 LOL

casual hot take we do not have to “appreciate” a movie’s symbolism, art form, or anything else…

• Upvotes

maybe this isn’t a hot take at all, but i think we’re expected to give too many movies grace. like a movie can just be plain bad, but it has to get at least a six because its underlying themes are actually a satirical play on the socioeconomic abuse of billionaires and classism OHMYGOD, give me a break! it feels like if anything is animated, symbolic, or satirical, that’s enough for it to be a good movie. and tbh, it feels like it all ties back into the woke olympics. like i don’t care about the deeper meaning of a movie. if it’s good, it’s good. if it isn’t, it isn’t. i’d rather sit and watch “the cat who ate the fridge” which turns out to be funny or stupid in a good way over “the death of xyz”, which is long and overall mid, but has some deeper issue that talks about our society. it’s very annoying! not saying i don’t like deeper movies, but it still has to be good + gets no extra points for me for being different or taking a risk.

Women literally have 5% swipe rate on men.

They consider average men, ugly.

Women care about looks so much more than men and things like height automatically disqualify millions of men from dating.

casual hot take Protesting outside of a fraternity house when they weren’t the fraternity that committed the problem your protesting is dumb.

• Upvotes

Surprisingly this isn’t about the Cornell 7 but an incident regarding FIJI at Nebraska Lincoln a couple years ago.

We had a new FIJI chapter trying to get footing on our campus. Some class act people who while only in their second year had donated lots of money to charity and were being good folks in our community, just for a bunch of people to protest outside of their house about what had happened at a different location, with a different group of people of whom none of this chapter knew. They called these boys racist, bigots and it went on for weeks, people throwing eggs at their house, and said house that was already struggling to keep members ended up having to close its doors.

I felt bad for these guys. They were good dudes and because people literally half the country away did something awful they got told they were the problem.

This doesn’t solve anything.

Fraternities usually share name and name only. There are chapters of my fraternity where I have met them and they were nothing like us and we hated them.
We were low to middle income guys who def loved the mantra that we paid for friends because we did and I wouldn’t take it back. We worked hard for what was ours and worked jobs outside of school.

some chapters were daddy’s money boys who had never known they had a silver spoon in their mouth and were douchebags. Totally nailing what the media calls a frat guy. But not all of us were like that’s

It’s unfair to do it. It’s stereotyping. To call every frat house a rape den is judgemental and shows you haven’t looked into Greek life at all.

To those who sadly experienced awful things at Greek events I truly feel for you and wish you all the healing you need but please dont allow it to cloud your vision and assume that all of us are like that.

gender Men dont actually care about Hypergamy, they care that it isn't practical anymore.

• Upvotes

I feel like alot of men shit on women because statisticly speaking women are hypergamus. But back less than 30 years ago basicly no one complained about it. If you look even further back western culture actually supported women being hypergamus as there was basically no other path than marrying someone who can support you and your children, while you for the most part were cut of from making any income yourself, hell people would judge the women for picking a guy who was a blue collar worker. This shows that men didn't care about Hypergamy until now, and while some will argue that they are mad because lost control I point out the fact that men were the ones that gave up control and that boomers and millennials were able to find love just as fine as they did generations before. So the reason why all the hate behind Hypergamy is because its not feasible anymore. Studies have shown that even as women achieve higher educational levels and greater financial independence still exhibit income hypergamy, mixed with the fact that places like the USA are going through what economists call a "silent recession" which is a disconnect where macro-level economic data looks healthy, but micro-level consumer purchasing power is severely deteriorating. To give a example. At face value, I'm pretty sure most guys wouldn't care if they paid for the first date. But if some dude let's say from Philidephia, where the current gas price per gallon is literally higher than half of the legal minimum wage is not going to be too happy about that after the 4th or 5th time. And we still haven't taken account of the cost of living like with rent & grocery cost, etc. The simply fact is the environment is changing and the world is progressing yet traditionally cultural norms especially in regards to dating are largely untouched. Men dont hate Hypergamy or think its inherently bad but rather that they are still being held to a traditional patriarchal standard that's no longer really feasible to hold for the majority of the avrage men in the modern day and feel slighted that they feel like they are getting left behind because the rules don't change but the game itself dose. It's why many, including women are saying to split the bill rather than the man pay for it, even though there are plenty who disagree with that statement as well. Is short its not someone's preference you have a problem with its the fact you cant meet their preference, in this case because of a bad economy. This could be applied to other preferences people have.

People w/ high body counts should only date others w/ high body counts

• Upvotes

I see many relationships where one partner has way more sexual partners and that causes so many issues.

If people with high body counts only dated others with equally high body counts, that would solve so many problems.

Most people want to sleep around in their 20's and settle with the partner they wouldn't give time of day to in their 30's or 40's.

lukewarm take POC complaining about another POC mostly dating white people is problematic

• Upvotes

LET ME CLARIFY THIS FIRST:

I’m a brown Latin American and I live in Central Europe. I moved to Europe when I was 15, and I’m 21 now. Whenever I talk to my friends back home about whoever I’m dating they always ask me: “why do you always go for white girls?” (I’m a lesbian). Or like, when I’ll talk to my POC friends from Europe they’ll say shit like: “don’t you find it weird that you always end up with a white girl?” or: “why don’t you ever date people of your culture?”

MY BROTHER IN CHRIST, I live in a tiny town in Central Europe how many queer people do you think there are in my city???? Let alone queer people do colour?????? Also like, I’m from São Paulo, Brazil, an unbelievably ethnic diverse place, I truly don’t care about what your skin tone or cultural background is. Whoever it is I’m dating, I’ll want to learn about their culture (yes, even if they are European, tf, their culture is still different to mine - even if they were also Brazilian, chances are that our cultures would still be kind of different). It is simply that STATISTICALLY it’s way more likely I’ll end up with a white woman, because they are the majority where I live.

Lastly, wtf is this mentality of “you should only date within your race”?????. The fuck kind of segregation mindset is this?

serious hot take Smoking isn't always bad, and can be attractive

• Upvotes

I know cigarettes are awful for health. I know about second-hand and third-hand smoke. I know when smoked often, they stain teeth and facial hair.

They're dangerous, so they're "bad." I get it.

While those facets of smoking aren't desirable to most people, myself included, watching someone handle, hold, and hit the occasional cigarette or two is just so attractive. They necessitate careful fingers, and in one's face there's always a focused moment where the lighter is flicked, followed by the uncoiling of tension on that first drag. There's a sort of ritual in the process of smoking. I like watching it. I see the appeal in being a part of it. There's intimacy in offering a lighter, an ashtray, or a receptacle for trash/cig butts. Maybe I'm a freak, but the smell lingering on the collar of someone I'm attracted to mixed with "their" smell is very comforting, too.

They're dangerous, so they're "good." Get it?

Sociology is mostly unscientific bs and it’s just a way to give more validity to the person’s arbitrary opinion

• Upvotes

Sociology is just people dressing up their opinions in academic language and pretending they’ve discovered some objective truth about society. Half the time, it’s just cherry-picked evidence, vague concepts, and personal ideology disguised as science. Using complicated terminology doesn’t make an argument more intelligent, and having a degree doesn’t make your opinions facts. Using fancy concepts with unclear definition doesn’t make you right. Pop-sociology is even worse, seeing some 20s something girl doing a video essay on some random topic, and explaining something which is just an arbitrary opinion and quoting some random book like its evidence.

My right to not vote is just as important and ironclad as your right to vote.

• Upvotes

Forced votes are forced speech.

It’s an asinine policy that flies in the face of my right to express myself how I wish.

I don’t want to vote for the lesser of two evils.

I don’t care either.

”oh but the republicans are so evil”

yeah well half the country thinks you’re the evil ones. The 76 million trump votes weren’t Russian bots.

I don’t give a shit.

as far as I’m concerned any vote I make will go to corruption and war.

I have a right to sit at home and not check my mail. I don’t have to do shit for the government without a court order. Let alone vote for who gets the privileges to tax me and bomb foreigners.

I’m a goddamned American, and I don’t want to play this game.

Also I can not vote and still complain. First Amendment stands proud.

gender We don't currently live in a patriarchy in the western world, also patriarchy would be good

• Upvotes

When you hear the word patriarchy in the modern day my mind always goes out of it, you might as well have just started talking about aliens or speaking a foreign language. It feels like a buzzword to just slap on anything like a sticker to shut men down.

But, I think we actually live in a soft matriarchy.

Men cannot talk about their own problems when it comes to women without it being silenced, or derailed in some way. They're told it's somehow their own fault, without there being any hint of empathy. If they're lonely, it's called natural selection, this is incredibly dehumanizing. Simply caring for a man, like a fellow human? That's unpaid emotional labor. Every normal, rational human interaction or expectation from men has been rebranded to sound oppressive.
Women hold the majority of opportunities like with jobs or in schooling.

Women hold immense amount of social power over men, and they seem more than happy to abuse it. It is not seen as socially acceptable to call them own for any of this wrongdoing. Women can call out men, and everything they do is misogynistic, but it is never okay to call out women for their bigotry, and nothing they do can ever be misandrist, and actually misandry to them doesn't even exist. This is the way of society, and social media.

The excuse they like to use is that women do not hold majority of high-level positions like politicians, CEOS, etc.
That's true. But let's ask this: Is a patriarchy a system in which women can't hold majority of power, or they just don't?
Basically what I'm asking is, why don't they? What standards or rules are in place preventing this?

It's like saying just because there aren't as many female coal miners or construction workers, or playing football nba.. means there must be some oppressive system, when simply certain demographics simply on average just don't do certain things.

Now let's get into why a patriarchy would be good:

Historically only around 40% of men have reproduced since the dawn of time. Meanwhile 80-90% of women reproduced. Why is this? Women date up, high-status men come in and have multiple partners, while the average, lower-quality men had none.
These lower men didn't have time to fester in their bitterness, they died. They were used as pawns in war, or they simply ceased.

This again, is a very dark reality for humanity. It tells the average person they will not be happy, they have no good future unless they grind tirelessly in order to be on the top, and if they don't they will simply get kicked out.

You would not allow the rich class to hoard all the food in the kingdom, while all else outside suffer and starve, how is this any different?

This is what happens when left to your own devices.

So you ask, why patriarchy was even a thing to begin with. Was it to oppress women? Or was it because our ancestors knew something we have been naive to?
It's because nature itself seems to hate the male species, and without a system in place, they suffer.

Look at how other species in nature mate. Look at how bees mate. In nearly all of these, the male has a significantly harsher time, and used only for reproduction and/or their hard labor. In many cases once they offer what's needed to reproduce, they die.

and also, patriarchy actually benefitted women in many ways. We agree that work sucks, and nobody should have to do it. If you could rescue anyone from the pain of work, isn't that good?
also think about how women have their dates paid for, overall men do the heavy lifting in relationships.
If feminists hate patriarchy so much, why don't they fight these too?
The parts that are negative towards women are discarded, but the parts that benefit women are kept or reinforced.
If you're gonna do, or get rid of something, don't half-ass it, throw out the whole thing.

anyways, that's my take lol. I've got a lot more but this is getting kinda long.

casual hot take Citizens of other countries are jealous of US citizens

People from other countries are jealous of our freedoms; that we have true freedom of speech, we dont have to worry about getting arrested for dark humor or memes, we have the right to carry and properly defend ourselves from attackers (whether it be with guns, tasers, mace, pepper spray, knives) instead of forcing us to be victims, we have the largest GDP, have a diverse setting (you want deserts, we got it, want beaches, we got it, want mountains, we got it, want forests, we got it, swamps, we got it), we have the best entertainment and music.

It says something special when even the citizens that say they hate it with a passion aint trying to go nowhere.

serious hot take hypocrisy has ruined the relationship world

I’ll be completely honest; I hate seeing women and men with absolutely insane requirements for a relationship while they never work on themselves.

You want a partner with a nice car and a house and a job? Then get a nice house, and a nice car, and even a better job. Why don’t you want to match your future partner’s loyalty as much as possible?

And it’s always “I want to party and go out and sleep with x amount of people” in the early 20s, but when they’re older they want to “settle down”. Settle down for what? a perfect partner that never went out growing up and instead, read books all day? What an absolutely selfish and greedy idea to have. They are completely out of your league.

Stop going to clubs. Work on yourself, aim towards your goals. It’s a serious world out here, no time for fun and hoeing around. When you’re married to that “dream person” of yours, at least you won’t deceive them.

hot take, harshly criticise me for it! Fat people today are smokers from the 70's

Preface: if you smoke or eat fast food, this not judgment to you, do what you feel makes you happy so long as you know the dangers and are educated on it.

Smokers from 70s:

Smoke its good for you! So what if it hurts your lungs, its good for your blood pressure, we even have some doctors that approve of it. Laws to allow smoking in privates places, cigarette ads for kids and push for more smokers. Unhappy? Sad? Angry? Stressed? reach for that brightly colored pack of blue menthol cigarettes. Celebrities smoking cigarettes and pushing others into doing it under the guide of being "cool" and accepted.

fat people from today:

its good to eat! you need to eat or you will perish! Dont worry about the calories just focus on being happy. Horrible ingredients companies use to save a buck but puts your health at risk. Unhappy? Sad? Angry? Stressed? reach for that brightly colored pack of blue colored Oreo's that have 0 real ingredients and all chemicals that destroy your body. Being fat is cool just look at Lizzo and many others. Make laws and lobby for fat people being bullied, put extremely unhealthy snacks and treats to kids that are on the bottom shelf of markets to reach kids. Tell kids its okay to develop type 2 diabetes after eating McDonalds everyday.

"so just tell people not to eat fattening foods" Okay, just tell smokers who smoke for 10+ years to quit today, oh they cant because they have an addiction now just like fat people who are morbidly obese.

"No one is forcing a gun to people and forcing them to eat fast food" No guns heres but PLENTY of ads, advertisement, apps and a ecosystem designed on getting more people to eat. So no gun but borderline mindcontorl to get people to eat trash food. Yes, there are systems that borderline controlling your mind to eat more.

Another big one I want to say is that I personally think the fast food/sugar/Coke/Mcdonalds industry has destroyed the quality of fruits and taken away their sweetness and increasing the sugar in their regular foods so people dont get the same dopamine hit from fruits that they get from high sugar snacks.

casual hot take When you think about it, redpill content is basically gender studies and therapy but for men

Ever heard of the common complains from men about how gender studies and therapy is useless for men because those two only exists to validate women's world view and "demonise men"?

Yeah it is a pretty common among men to have this opinion about gender studies and therapy (both are actual legit academic fields), they think it is pretty useless and does nothing but waste time.

But then redpill conent literally does the same thing except it is literally based on pseudoscience and misinterpreted stats. Redpill often talks about the "nature of women and men in society" or some shit and how things should be or not. Like how men and women behave, how they live their lives and what their roles should be. Gender studies literally examines and analyses those things .

And don't get me started with the therapy thing, it is genuinely ironic how men say all therapy does is validate women's feelings, men are always wrong and women are always right and deny reality of various situations and then turn to redpill content who do the exact same shit but in reverse and with actual pseudoscience.

All redpill does is trash women, glaze men or put down men who don't agree with them (funny how that isn't considered misandry), validate all men's feelings about women and their world view even if it dosen't correlate with reality.

Like how is "all women do is cheat" , "women can never take accountability" etc any different from saying "all men are rapists" or "all men are cheaters".

Problem is none of the men even question if any of the things the redpill tells men about women is true or not. If they say "women are allergic to accountability" they just believe it if some few examples to prove that the entire gender does. But if you apply the same logic to men, you are a "misandrist".

Point is that men and women aren't that different from the bullshit they cook up about the other gender and they each make a space to validate their world view regardless of whether it is true or not.

serious hot take As a man dating is actually easy

I'm only saying as a man cause I have zero idea what the woman dating experience is like but here's mine.

M23 former incel. I believe the problem most men face nowadays is the fear of being labeled or seen as a creep. Just stop giving a fuck about it, approach everyone and anyone. Hypergamy is real but it's not something that always happens, blackpill is real but it's not all encompassing. Reality is most guys out there is just not willing to put in the work to bag a woman. Detachment, volume, and just stop giving a fuck. It's all there is to it.

You could also start working out and get a job to increase your chances, but they're not requirements you could be the most hideous looking, worthless man and you'd still bag a woman if you did the numbers game.

And no I'm not this "chad" I'm obese and recently unemployed short, I go out about twice a week.

NUCLEAR hot take The only way to really stop the decline of American society is to institute a civics test to vote.

The unfortunate reality is that democracy only works when the average person who is allowed to participate is a rational actor, and that’s just not the case in the US. The reason why American democracy and institutions are in decline is because too many people who hold objectively incorrect views on climate science, evolution, vaccines, LGBT people, and immigration are allowed to put their favorite demagogue or religious leader into power. I believe that the only way to save what’s left of our biosphere and prevent the collapse of the US into fascism and theocracy is to require a 12th grade level civics test to register to vote.

I believe this has nothing to do with racist “literacy tests” and “poll taxes” that were put in place after the Civil War, because those things were meant to prevent black people from voting because they were rigged. White southerners did not have to take literacy tests and, if they did, most would have failed.

I think it’s very unlikely that a voting test like this would be co-opted by the far right, because I think if done right it would prevent the far right from ever being elected again.

I also don’t think a voting test like that would be racist or intentionally prevent minorities from voting, because the lack of respect for education that got us into this mess is something that affects almost all races, religions, and income brackets.

serious hot take Feminism is not for men

Nor can men be feminists. Allies, sure, but never true feminists. We center men for everything else in life. We don't need to center men for the feminist movement, too.
