Sunset Lake Road at Lockley Accident
There was another wreck at the entrance of Lockley Road at Sunset Lake Road last night. This is now the tenth recorded since they widened Sunset Lake Road with the 540 extension last year. The previous traffic study conducted in 2023/2024 found zero accidents at that intersection. So an infinite increase when you divide by zero.
We set up cameras a few weeks ago and finally get one on tape (unfortunately this sub doesn't allow video!).
As crazy as it sounds, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is starting on a (twice delayed) project to widen Sunset Lake Road from Lockley Road to Holly Springs Road as we speak. This multi-million dollar widening will take a year or so and they are just starting to put the cones out this week to begin in earnest (be prepared for the delays on Sunset Lake Road as November sets in).
Despite everybody begging NCDOT to include a light in the project, they didn't find the merit. They just moved some power lines out of the way and they are striping Lockley with a crosswalk. Not even a turning lane for residents (https://ncdot.publicinput.com/A0587 to learn more).
The prospect of waiting for a bond to pass in 2028 (which seems rather unlikely tbh) to get any relieve here, all the while we continue to see crazy approvals for more pressure on that part of town, is untenable.
Last year, the Mayor of Apex Jacques Gilbert, Mayor of Apex, NC was able to undercut NCDOT and worked hard for his constituents to find funding for a major safety issue: https://www.instagram.com/p/DKu48iARHCF Surely somebody on this side of the highway can step up before 2030, the most likely earliest anybody will be spending any bond money were one to pass.

Paré it again Sports
Since Erin decided to make her business a campaign issue, be aware that if/when you shop at Play it again Sports in Holly Springs you are supporting Erin Paré. If you don’t support Erin you should go elsewhere.

I started a British chocolate shop this year, and I've just added free local delivery exclusively for Holly Springs
Hi all,
I'm Richard. I grew up in York, England, and I've lived here in Holly Springs with my wife, two daughters and three cats, for 7 years now.
This year I started a small business selling proper British chocolate such as Cadbury made in Britain rather than the American version, Aero, Maltesers, Wispa, Flake, Lion and more. I love living in the US but I always miss the chocolate of my childhood. There are plenty of places to buy it but they usually have ridiculously high shipping costs or minimums before free shipping is even offered.
It's just me, by the way. I pack every order by hand at home.
Anyway, the reason I'm posting. I've added free local delivery for Holly Springs. Order on the site, choose local delivery at checkout, and I'll drop it at your house myself. No shipping charge, no waiting on a parcel. There's a $25 minimum order, but who buys just a couple of bars of British chocolate anyway?
If there's something you miss that I don't stock yet, let me know. Local requests go to the front of the list 😄
Looking forward to delivering some British chocolate to my fellow Holly Springs neighbors!
EDIT: Due to popular demand I am now offering delivery to Fuquay-Varina and Apex (zip codes 27526 and 27539) for $3 for orders $25 and up. Orders over $50 are still free!

Townhouses in Holly Springs?
We’re selling our townhouse but not finding any buyers? Does anyone know anyone looking or does anyone have any insight to where else to be marketing to? Our realtor is working hard but it’s obviously a hard market. It’s a 3bed/2.5 bath with a fenced in backyard and huge kitchen.
I think we’ve priced it competitively as the cheapest 3bed townhouse in Holly Springs

Safety, affordability, good food and 25 minutes to Holly Springs

Baked Goods at Farmers Market
Does any one know the names of the elderly couple (husband and wife) from some farm in Holly Springs (or maybe Apex) who sold baked goods at the Raleigh Farmer’s Market? Haven’t seen them for a while and understand they are both having health issues.

Holly Springs Library
Does anyone know when the Holly Springs Library will reopen? It has been closed for about 6 months for renovation. The website states that it will reopen by the end of 2026. Thanks!

Gamified Holly Springs
I've been really interested in seeing how complex running our town actually is - where does the money go, how are we handling growth, etc.
So I created a gamified version of the town's 2026-2027 budget, along with other key facts.
It's just a prototype, and no warranties of the data accuracy, but would love to hear what people think about the approach. At each location, you can actually ask a question, and anyone else that visits can answer the questions (or debate if necessary).
You can check it out at towntoonify.com Let me know what you think or what else we should include.

Fireball in N/NW sky last night 10/6 735pm approx
Anyone catch the fireball in the sky last night and have a video of it?
About 735pm and in the NW/N direction about half way up the sky, not overhead.
It was short, maybe 2 seconds.

Apartment Recommendations?
Hi! My partner and I are moving from the west coast to NC around Raleigh area. We were wondering on some apartment recommendations?!
We’re interested in a 1 bed with a den or a 2 bedroom.
We prefer a modernized apartment building/unit, accepts small dogs, and has a gym. We don’t have a set budget yet but kinda hoping to keep it around 1,800$/mo max..? Any recommendations would be great, thank you!(:

Holly Springs puts grass clippings in carts. Apex may stop collecting them altogether
Apex is considering ending curbside grass-clipping collection because officials say they have not been able to secure a long-term processor for the town’s volume.
I’m the News & Observer reporter who wrote this story.
I compared Apex with Cary, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina and Morrisville. Holly Springs uses biweekly brown yard-waste carts that can include grass clippings, while Apex is the only one of the five that routinely allows residents to leave grass loose at the curb for vacuum-truck pickup.
Holly Springs collected 5,195 tons of yard waste last fiscal year.
Read the story for free: https://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/counties/wake-county/article317470931.html?giftCode=e27b1db80d97fc6a694c4cb5af6e36110c4b1ce838fe51e66842a4687f0b232b
For Holly Springs residents: does the cart system work well for you, or do you ever run into capacity problems with grass or yard waste?

Play Board Games & Drink Coffee at The Perch
galleryFound a new place that just opened up in Holly Springs it’s called The Perch (1125 McChesney Hl Lp, Holly Springs, NC 27540) it’s a board game/cafe. It’s $5 a person to come sit and play but you can pull as many games as you’d like and there’s no time limit. Plus the coffee and food is exceptional so definitely check it out if you have the chance.

Chimney cap replacement and crown refinish
Anyone has recommendation on a chimney repair company for works in title?
Was quoted almost $6,000 for the above works by one company. This seems excessive. Thanks in advance

Any shops coming to Main Street Vista?
It looks like the new development on the corner of Holly Springs Rd and Main called Main Street Vista is finished building.
Does anyone know if this a multi use development or purely residential? If it will be commercial on the bottom level, any word on potential tenants?
