Character Discussion - General Who would you choose?
If we could go back in time and cast someone other than Alexis Bledel to play Rory, who would you choose?

why was Lorelei always paired with emely, while Rory with Richard. We esp. see this when Richard asks Rory to be his groomsmen and Emily immediately pulls Lorelai to be her bridesmaid

Zach looks like Joe Alwyn. That's it. That's the revelation.

I’m in the middle of my annual rewatch and this year, I cannot stand her in this episode. The incessant rambling of facts about Mitchum. Pressing Logan for info when he’s obviously uncomfortable. The complete awkward mess she is when she’s at the office. I get she’s supposed to be doe-eyed, but yikes. Usually it doesn’t bother me, but this year, I’ve been more irritated with Rory on the whole than years past. She’s never been my favorite character, but now she’s making her way towards the bottom.

Ok, I watched Gilmore Girls when I was in high school and I thought Paris was a complete nutcase. Overly competitive, abrasive, extremely intense. I was sick and rewatched a few episodes and I honestly think Paris is a favorite character.
She knew what she wanted and was extremely determined to find her way. Granted, she was a little insane about Harvard but there was a lot more family pressure that was put on her. The whole "generations of Gellars went to Harvard," etc. She wasn't anti-social- she had friends and could sense people's nonsense. Hence her and Francy not getting along. Also, calling Rory out for being crazy to drop out of Yale.
Am I the only person who actually thinks Paris is kind of the hero of the show?

So I’m rewatching this show for the millionth time and just made it to the max 1000 yellow daisy proposal. And let me tell you. This is the worst proposal in television history!!!!!
You propose to someone and you’re not even in the room. Like what on earth is that!!!!!!?????? TERRIBLE!
But go ahead and try to find me a worse one. I dare you. Convince me I’m crazy.
Edit: Hey everyone I know this is a Gilmore girls channel but I meant is there a worse proposal on any television show in the known universe. This is the level of hatred I’m trying to convey. Also thanks for the comments.

I like it when she notices him and quietly goes to him. Make him accept his part of work and that he did care about Luke. Jess being Jess obviously refuses to acknowledge but Rory knows better than that. She knows how to make him say the truth.
Later she teases him and tells him "You facilitated it, you made it happen, so I guess that means that you're officially part of our town now," she playfully trapped him. He pretends to hate the idea. Tuff guy who only does secret magic tricks in front of Rory. 👀
I love this episode Because it's full of LXL and JXR scenes. Fav episodes fr 🙂↔️
Also, underated Rory's outfit fr.

I can understand Rory being confused about her feelings to Jess in season 2, but by season 3 her behavior was annoying and ridiculous.
She kissed Jess at Sookie's wedding while still being wiht Dean and then left for Washington without talking to Jess about what happened, she spent the summer never talking to Dean through leters or phone calls and still somehow convinved herself she wanted to be with Dean.
Then she comes back to Stars Hollow getting all dressed up for Jess and acts like a royal jerk when she sees Jess with Shane.
I think this is one of the few times in the Chilton era where she really showed how spoiled she could be, she really expected Jess to spend the entire summer pining and waiting for her like Dean would.
She hadn't broken up with Dean and made zero promises to Jess and hadn't even told either how she felt about the situation and still felt entitled to behave like she was betrayed by Jess by his relationship with Shane.
And instead of accepting that Jess was single and could do whatever he wants she continued to make slut shaming remarks about Shane while still being in denial about the relationship.
I'm not a Rory hater but season 3 was not a good look for her.

Considering how old this show is, there has to be at least a few out there. I wanna read what people came up with had Chad Michael Murray never left GG for that other show 😪

The Eternal Autumn of ‘Gilmore Girls’ --- I love this. I love fall. I love it all.

So I watched it all growing up (me and Rory were two years apart in school), and since then have rewatched the whole series, plus AYITL nearly annually....often kinda hate watching because there is much to criticize lol. But idk if its the headspace I'm in, or the season, or nostalgia or what, but I just finished "Summer" and it's making me so sad.
I think I wish they never made AYITL. Their stagnation is such a bummer, and everyone has aged yet nothing has changed and 2016 was also by far the worst year of my life and maybe being back in that year is not good for me!
Blah!

I feel like Logan was the best with showing affection. Jess and Rory really just made out, and Dean was just sorta lurking over her majority of the time.
I like Logan’s cheek/hand/head kisses to Rory, the way he is always touching her somehow, always leaning towards her. I enjoy watching them be all lovey dovey in this way.

I feel like Lorelai and Rory were a huge reason why Lane got to have a somewhat normal adolescence. Rory gave Lane someone she could be herself around while Lorelai's home was her safe place where she could talk to someone about her interests.

I know there will never be anything exactly like how this show, but if you could recreate a show similar to this, what elements would be most important to you? What would you prefer to do without?
For me, I most want a show with a relationship vibes between mother and daughter, of course, but also the warmth and eccentricities of the town. I also love that the characters are flawed. I hate when you watch something and their flaws are so minor that it makes them unrealistic.
I could do without the intentional "misunderstanding" of each other. I feel like if they went to therapy, 80% of the animosity could be avoided. The other thing I CAN NOT stand is the homophobia/fat phobia.

Richard said she never told her husband either. I wonder if he ever found out and they fought?
It'd be hilarious if Emily told him.

S2 E2 and Louise hair is so stiff and hairline so raised. Anybody know if this was a wig?!

Honestly this round of GG is making me love Brian! It’s obviously nerdy and geeky but that is one of the reasons why he’s great.
I just watched the episode where the band goes to the Kim’s Lunar New Year dinner and it’s awesome he cared enough to learn about Korean culture before the dinner. He’s an underrated side character & should be talked about more

In S1 E12 during Sookie and Jackson's first date, Lorelai says to Luke "I think I'd wear blue to the wedding."
In S2 E22, Lorelai and Rory wear blue bridesmaids dresses.
What are your favorite call backs between seasons?
r/GilmoreGirls • u/tulipholic • 24m ago
Lorelai is literally someone who gives a reality check to Rory about her treatment of Dean and was disappointed when Rory cheated with Dean as well.
Lorelai is always an empathetic. It was so OOC for her to suddenly forget about existence of Rory's boyfriend. It was in character for Rory and Luke but NOT for Lorelai. Given Lorelai's character she was a kinda woman who used to feel like supporting other people in their terrible moment even though they're sometimes rude with her (Emily for example) I've never expect something like this from Lorelai. Certainly did expect from Rory. #nottheLorelaiIknew😔
Also, Luke's opening scene in winter was cringe as hell. The paul treatment is not talked about enough in the fandom. It disgusts me
