43/F/Europe - Is anyone else just winging it in their 40s?

Hello there, how is everyone's day going so far? I am looking for genuine, funny, slightly unhinged friends from all over the world. Are you as tired as me? Tired from all the perfect people with their perfect lives out there (but also, just plain exhausted and wanting to SLEEP for a business week?)

Is there anybody out there who is really looking for a friend? Someone who is up for both deep and ridiculous conversations. Literally chat about anything and everything.

I love reading (collecting books too I guess), listening to audiobooks when I commute to work, cooking, watching great movies and series. Travel is my ultimate reset button. And lately I am developing a weird love for all things stationery – even if it's just a fancy pen ...?

I'm an introvert, but a total pro at faking it.

According to the internet, 2026 is officially the year of the Taurus. Sadly, reality didn't get the memo so far. If you agree, we should definitely be friends.

Looking for my fellow weirdos! Applications are open ✨🙃

42 M | Canada | Looking for genuine internet friends

Hey,

I’m 42, living in Canada, and somewhere between “comfortably settled” and “still curious about what’s next.” I’ve got a solid career, a life that works on paper, and the usual mix of responsibilities. What I’m short on these days is the easy, consistent kind of connection that doesn’t feel forced or transactional.

I’m not here looking for anything dramatic. Just people who like actual conversation — the kind that can wander from work stress to dumb memes to random life observations without needing an agenda. Prefer back-and-forth that feels natural rather than performative.

A few things that tend to come up if we talk long enough: I travel for work more than I’d like, I’ve got a dry sense of humour, I appreciate people who can hold a thought past the surface level, and I’m generally pretty open once the ice is broken. Not looking to dump my entire life story in the first message, but I’m not closed off either.

If you’re around a similar age (or close enough that the gap doesn’t matter), somewhere in the world is fine, and you value consistency over intensity, feel free to say hi.

The day move slow when you work from home

46 mom of two - working from home.
Fan of books ( in all their forms- electronic- paper-audio). Lover of podcasts- there’s just soooo many things to learn and my interests are multiple.
To move my body I run - box - lift heavy stuff and now take it on the mat (BJJ).
Beach over mountain (unless there’s no mosquitoes).
Savory over sweet.
Action movies over chick flick.
Got questions? Come down in my DM.

Work from home and starving for real conversation. How do you all deal with it?

I'm 45, in Canada, and work from home. Some days the only talking I do is work stuff on a screen, and honestly it's getting old.
I miss just talking to people. Everyday stuff like how your day went, deeper conversations that make you think, and the completely pointless banter that goes nowhere. I enjoy all of it.
For those of you who work remotely or don't have a big social circle, how did you meet people you actually click with as an adult? And what do you like talking about most with your friends?
I'm not after someone who replies "lol" and disappears. I like a conversation that keeps going, so that's what I'm hoping to find more of. Would love to hear what's worked for you.

What's something you've done completely out of character that you're glad you did?

I think most of us get pretty comfortable with our routines as we get older. Work, family, the usual stuff.
Curious what people have done that was completely out of character for them. Could be something spontaneous, a random decision, or something you never thought you’d try.

Anything that turned out to be a great experience or changed how you look at things?

43M 🇨🇦-just learned about this part of Reddit

Helloooo

Just learned about this part of Reddit and I’m very curious to see how it goes.

43M from Toronto with 2 little ones. Sarcastic occasionally. Dry sense of humour always.

I am (or more so, WAS) a huge travel bug. Love most types of music but prefer EDM.
Big sports fan but hate watching my hometown teams. Too much heartache!

As friends have moved away, the inner circle has gotten smaller and smaller.

Would love to offer membership into my own “cool kids group” to anyone who thinks their cool enough to apply.

I work with computers 🤓 so I’ve got a lot of easy down time on my hands.

If you’d like to waste some time with some banter, feel free to reply back 🙃

Looking for a genuine friend who would like to chat!

Hi all. I’m 44F from Queensland, Australia looking for a friend who wants to have interesting conversations.

I’m into reading books, writing, hiking, swimming, seeing live music, board games and good tv shows and movies.

What I can offer as a friend: corny jokes, book and movie quotes, great book recommendations and conversations, rambling anecdotes and quirky life observations.

Tell me a quote you love from a book or movie.

Hey there 44/m looking for his people

Hello there! I am from northeast Ohio and looking to find my people. I am happily married with 2 kids. My kids are just becoming adults and I am still trying to figure out how to navigate that. I don’t really have any friends and I would love to change that. I enjoy my gaming, photography, rock music, concerts, and a lot of nerdy things. Also a baseball fan but my team fell just short of the World Series so I decided not to watch it.

47F MST chatGPT told me this is how to make platonic online friends!

Hello 40+ adults!!! I recently moved to a small town and have a very random schedule. I am looking for platonic connection on a variety of topics to chitchat and pass the day or have someone to talk to. It could be intellectual or psychology based as well as daily life or random topics.

It’s getting cold outside. What is everybody plotting out the next couple months to cope with the weather or take escape somewhere warm?

Is it tough make a Friendship after 50 both in real life or reddit world?

I came here to make friendship but its not that place where i can make friendship, chat daily, shares hobbies. I don’t know why peoples are so busy with nothing. Although everytime i see post about friendship making and wants to chat but in reality they dont like these. Is it only time pass options? My world of friendship is small due to work & relocation at the age of 35 years later i couldn’t make a friends where i live now.

Can anyone tell me what things depends for making friendship? Money, look appearance, religious choice, regional locations?

I am really confused 😌

49/m Michigan looking for chats

Trying to fight off a cold while grinding away at work. Don’t worry, you can’t catch it thru chats. Into hockey, hiking, cooking, movies, roadtrips and more. What are some fall recipes to try? What are you passing out for Halloween? My kids are grown so throwing myself out there to the Reddit wolves. Don’t be shy, maybe we’ll be friends, enemies, or more

44/M/East Coast Looking for consistency, good conversation and laughs. What’s everyone being for halloween?

Married male, east coast (South Carolina) into the Switch 2, movies and tv shows. Horror, anything marvel/dc related, and deeply rooted in nerd culture, I’m all over it. I am an apple person, have a switch 2 and an Xbox, but I spend most time on the switch and Ipad. I host a radio show 3 days a week, and conversation is my strong suit, so I would love people that can also carry a conversation and have an interest in any of the above. Powerslap and Ufc, some WWE is ok on occasion as well. I’ve had luck twice on here with friends and would love to make 1-2 more friends to feel full in the friend department. One major thing about me - I am unapologetically me. I am 44, like I said, and have that dark humor we all back back then still. Politically I am NOT maga but FAR from liberal, so we will agree on some things and disagree on others. I am not sensitive, and have no filter but am kind-hearted and always mean well. I just don’t feel comfortable if I have to walk on eggshells and prefer to have people in my life that can love and appreciate me for me the way I appreciate people for who they are. There are a few people from the past I’d like to reconnect with if they’re still here…. Christina (my stoner friend that dated a cop), my canadian cheerleading mom friend, Missy in TX, and LoLo in NC. Say hey if you’re around and see this, say hi!

Anyone can reach out, just please put effort into a reply. And try to only message if we share similar interests. Would prefer a similar time zone so we would have time to chat.

Late 40s kid at heart.

I managed most of my life to be relatively friendless. Like most guys we just get on with it and don’t have the time nor the motivation to nurture friendships with other guys. Wife and kid has always been enough - or at least that’s what’s manageable or is what I tell myself.

But lately I find myself really wanting to chat more with people.
I’ve been here before - trying to post for a chat but honestly they rarely ever work out. Either the person has no chat skills, they were only really looking for girl, timezones, whatever. All I know is that posting here has always been a waste of time. I have a few great contacts through other interest groups but not many I would consider friends.

Yet here I am again. A sucker for punishment.

Just looking for someone chill. I want someone who checks in on me every now and then the way I check in on them. Share a random photo of life on their side. Be cool with me sharing the random photo of my wife looking fine. Chat about the continual ridiculous state of us politics, maybe someone into gaming or films or music or 3d printing or has a kid they can’t stop talking about.
I guess much like I imagine a close friend would be in real life. No stress. No pressure. Just a bud with a heart.

If you’re out there get in touch. Great if you have telegram too.

If this is not you please don’t even initiate contact and then slow fade with nothing to say.
We'd both be wasting our time.

Peace. ✌️

45M looking for some new friends!

Hi Reddit!

I’m Joe, a 45 year old married dad from Massachusetts. My social circle is more of an arc (a little geometry joke for you) and I’d love to make a new friend or two!

Happy to chat on Reddit or discord.

I’m happily married and looking for platonic friendship. I won’t ask for a pic or anything weird like that!

I’ll be upfront. My passions are computers, technology, gaming, etc. I’d love to talk about any of that stuff - or really anything else! I like getting to know people by learning about their interests. I am a lifelong learner and love to pick up new knowledge!

Looking forward to hearing from some of you!

45M - Missing the pointless workplace banter

Working from home, I have begun to realize I miss the mundane, pointless workplace banter that doesn't exist at my home office. So, instead of continuing to talk to myself like a madman, i am looking for some folks to converse with throughout the day.

I'm 45, married with a ton of hobbies but no time to explore any of them. Cooking, sports, DIY projects, and spending time outside are on the short list. I tend to have the LOTR trilogy soundtrack on in the background while working.

If you're in the same boat, are looking to pass the time while staring at spreadsheets all day amd can hold a conversation about meaningless topics, say hi!
