This dude has been the most consistent disappearing act on this team. I really wonder how long that OT goal vs Pittsburgh is gonna carry him for a career on the flyers. Every time I watch this guy he does nothing besides be on the ice for a goal against. Everything about him is just mid. Thanks to Osama Bin Fletcher we missed out on either Cole Caufield or Thomas Harley two guys who we would be creaming our panties over rn. I know not everyone’s the biggest Torts fan which I can completely understand but the fact we fired a coach who made our overall defense better and penalty kill better and made Michkov a Calder trophy candidate over this ginger mid defensemen who couldn’t hit the net, play the body or render a star ineffective is stupid. Hindsight is always 20/20 and there’s always gonna be room to improve but I don’t think he’s ever gonna develop into the smooth skating two way defender we hope he can be. When he makes a good play it’s not a feeling of excitement or hope it’s a mild surprise. I don’t fault him for being on the ice in OT (thanks Rick) but goddamn besides his occasional good game vs Anaheim or his OT goal vs Pitt I can’t think of anytime I’ve been like “oh boy thank god we have Cam York in the lineup he’s our difference maker.” Fuck this guy and fuck his contract

TLDR; I hate Cam York for being mid and arrogant

It’s hard to come to this conclusion after seeing his last couple seasons scoring 20 goals, then 25 and then 13 in 29 games last season. Those are promising numbers.

But to be honest I don’t see it in him this season. He just looks mid. Looks low effort, lost at times even. Is it poor linemates and usage ? Or is he just not the top 6 I was hoping he’d be

PHILADELPHIA — There have been flashes the past two weeks of what the Philadelphia Flyers can do when they play to their identity. Take the second and third periods of their meeting with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Flyers were all over their opponents, outshooting them a whopping 28-6 while scoring three times and allowing none.

But the first period was all too familiar when it comes to this year’s squad. The team that went winless in its first nine games of the season suddenly reappeared, playing sluggish and uninspired hockey against a middling opponent. Columbus scored three times in that opening frame, and again in overtime to beat the Flyers 4-3.

Naturally, the players in the home dressing room bemoaned their first 20 minutes moments after falling to 3-7-4 on the season. The Flyers had just two shots in the first period, and none over the final 13:57, while Columbus had seven.

“Just not the start we were looking for,” Travis Sanheim said. “Didn’t have the energy. Credit to the guys after the first, regroup and find our legs and make it a game. We’ll take the point but obviously the start has got to be better. Just wasn’t good enough.”

“I think it took a kick in the butt to get us going,” agreed Cam York, returning from an eight-game absence with an upper-body injury. “Second and third, pretty much dominated the game. Felt like we were on our toes and dictating the pace of play. Just can’t come out like that.”

I'm an out of state fan, so I've never been to the Carnival before. Considering making it a weekend next year. How much do things like autographs tend to cost? Any other things I should be considering?

Not sure why he came on the ice at all, let alone subbed in for SANHEIM. He can’t be trusted in a 3-3 situation, and this is why. First shift on the ice they get 2 full blown break aways 1 to win the game. He can’t be trusted with so much open ice to not turn the puck over or to stay back when 2 are up front. But it’s probably because you guys keep bullying tochet about ice time, he’s not wrong when it comes to keeping him on the bench in certain situations, but especially 3 on 3….

Does anybody have any options for parking for home games that is cheaper than the $30 per car at the arena lots? I don’t mind walking 15 minutes or so

VOORHEES, N.J. — About two weeks ago, Philadelphia Flyers online conspiracy theorists quickly equipped their tinfoil hats. Matvei Michkov, fresh off a particularly low 12:54 of ice time in a game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Oct. 11, had suddenly made his Instagram account private, while deleting the handful of photos that had previously populated his feed.

Had Michkov had enough of Philadelphia? Was the promising winger through with coach Rick Tocchet limiting his minutes? Was a trade in the works? Or even already done?

As is often the case with these sorts of things, there was a much simpler explanation. In an exclusive conversation with The Athletic on Monday, Michkov, in English, said that stepping back from the social media platform was done to “just (focus) on hockey.”

It seems to be working. Michkov is playing arguably the best hockey of his budding career. Headed into Tuesday’s Flyers home game with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Michkov is riding a five-game point streak, with six goals and two assists over that span. (His career best is six games, from March 22-31, 2025.) The run began three days after he went dark on social media.

Coincidence? Maybe. But maybe not. Tocchet mentioned on Oct. 13, when the Flyers were in the middle of their nine-game winless streak to start the season, that the coaching staff was doing its best to “cocoon” players from the negativity online, and that “social media will kill you if you really listen to it.”

Been a frustrating season. Feels like we are spinning our tires. 99% of the praise/fun is aimed at Michkov and Martone (for good reason), but Zegras quietly now has 12 points in 14 games on the lowest scoring team in the league.

It's especially impressive considering no TK, Tippett and he isn't on a line w/39 or 94.

Seems like he's really taking it up a level when it comes to being a leader and trying to bring the energy. Starting scrums, getting guys pissed off etc. loving his game!
