Mod Post Reminder, rule #3 also includes talking about r/ftm. This is not the place to come and insult the main ftm sub.

Friendly reminder: this is a sibling sub to r/ftm and all the mods here are also mods of r/ftm . We know exactly why a post was removed or why you were banned. Don't make us air your dirty laundry and tell everyone exactly what rules you decided didn't apply to you or what you said to us when you were throwing a fit in modmail.

This is happening far too often (should be happening not at all) and it's really quite annoying. We are being courteous in allowing users who were banned on r/ftm to still post on this sub, but the people you think you're bashing are the SAME people who made this space possible.

I am one of the senior mods on r/ftm and moderating that sub is incredibly stressful. We have rules for a reason. They aren't there to personally oppress you, they aren't there to push an agenda or censor you. We aren't fascist nazi transphobes because your comment got removed for breaking a rule. We have those rules in place to avoid drama and hurt to our community. Besides that, some rules are also a matter of safety for our users. We have a list of banned topics because without fail, every single time those topics are brought up, people start causing drama and it creates more work for us. Mod burnout is a very real thing. We're always having to add more mods because they get burnt out and have to take a break. And new mods aren't experienced enough to handle a huge drama filled thread. We're volunteers with our own lives and jobs. We do this from a place of love for the community. And many of us are mods in other subs. I run this sub and r/ftmen . That's a lot of moderating for a full time pet stylist who is disabled and trying to navigate packing up my entire life to move for my fiance (and finding a new job) while trying to work around the schedule for my next surgery. If you appreciate this space, don't make my life harder.

I don't want to have to include a new rule about banned topics here too, but if people keep using this space to try and bitch about r/ftm or get around the rules there just to start arguments, I'm going to have to add that rule.

Sensitive Topic I DONT WANT A PLASTIC PIECE OF SHIT

I want a REAL PENIS. I want something that produces it’s own body heat because it’s a REAL PART OF MY BODY. I want something that has SENSATION. I want something that isn’t going to make me piss myself at the most inconvenient of times because it’s a PART OF MY BODY.

I don’t want a HOLE. I don’t care what it’s named I don’t want it. I don’t care how valid I am with it because I don’t want it at all.

I would get phalloplasty if I didn’t need to depend on other people thinking I need it too. I am tired of being told to try another expensive plastic piece of shit or to have better masculinity.

I don’t care how “realistic” you make your plastic dick it doesn’t make it a part of my body.

Edit: every packer is a plastic piece of shit all of them

Conversations with other trans guys

I keep finding myself in these situations were other less dysphoric trans guys will like try to convince me that my dysphoria is like the extension of a negative view of myself and that i need to work on myself to be more comfortable with myself and it’s just kinda weird to me how ppl think there’s some intrinsic value to my dysphoria other then the simple fact I’m a dude in a body that isn’t meant for a dude. Like I’ve just had a conversation where a guy tried to convince me that my physical dysphoria was the result of mental unwellness which it is, dysphoria is literally that, and then I was like “idk man if i got surgery tomorrow my problems would be solved” and it kept going in this weird direction where he tried to convince me that it wouldn’t fix all my problems and that i need to get out my hopelessness loop but like. It would. Waking up with dick and balls tomorrow ? Literally problems solved.
I know some people think it must be deeper than that but I just don’t get it, I don’t even have social dysphoria cause I’ve stopped giving a fuck. It’s purely physical and it’s just weird how no one believes me. Like yea I’m uncomfortable with the idea of having sex in a body that’s dickless, I think anyone would be if they were meant to have a dick but don’t. Maybe I’m in the wrong and I just don’t know it?? I don’t know I just don’t want to seem like an asshole, it was a very normal polite conversation. I just keep hitting this wall over and over again of other people attributing more depth to this than I do and being confused over it

Mental Health Why can’t I escape this fucked up ass body

I want to live so badly as I enjoy many things about the world, but I can’t stand this body I’m trapped in. I’m in fucking hell a lot of the time. I try my best to be happy and to have a good time, but the fact that I have a larger chest and no penis and balls tears me up inside. I feel trapped in this existence that was meant for someone else, not me. I can’t escape this hardship because the things that bother me so deeply and painfully are attached to me. Escapism can only do so much and isn’t conducive to a full life and having a job, which, since I’m trans and my family is transphobic I don’t have people to lean on financially or residentially in rough times such as these. So often in difficult times, I can remind myself that there’s a way out, that it’ll be over soon. But there’s not a way out of this one, not really. Yes, there’s surgery and I’m grateful that option exists but it’s so far down the road for me and still doesn’t provide everything that I grieve. There’s no light at the end of this tunnel because I’m not near the end or even the middle of my top or bottom surgery processes. I’m just in a dark hole, trying to will my way through all the grief, anger, and aching envy. This existence makes me fucking sick sometimes.

Chasers are NOT great

I have seen people who feel flattered by being chased. I know exactly why I get chased and it fucking sucks. I want to let this out because maybe this will resonate with other people who have shitty experiences with chasers and are sick of people brushing them off.

Context: I had to wait to transition. I needed to escape my family before I could start. It paid off and they accepted me when I came out to them (distance made us fonder or something.) But I socially transitioned to my peers at 14-15ish? I'm 30 now. Started T a year ago.

Chasers assume I'm desperate because I dress masculine and had an androgynous face (its pretty masc now.) I know that's how they think... because more than one has complimented me by saying "I bet no one has ever told you how beautiful you are before." Like they are doing me a service. They believed that if they treated me like a delicate maiden I might realize that I was fooling myself and step away from my dreams of HRT. I was never desperate. The gaps between my long term relationships were small. But chasers would still come around and insert themselves.

I think a lot of chasers see pre-t/early-t guys as a mentally ill blank canvas they can guide into whatever form they want. Every chaser had visions for my gender. Every chaser tried telling me what to do. Every chaser has tried pushing me to have kids, minus the women.

God... speaking of the women. My most abusive ex was a girl who chased me. She was initially straight. She would tell me that she wasn't attracted to trans men """because she was straight.""" Then one day the bi-guy she liked rejected her. There was an attitude in the friend group that she was the only straight person and you could tell it bugged her. So she started flirting with me. At first she wanted me to look more girly (dresses, makeup, etc.) but then she stated that I NEEDED to plan for phallo to keep her needs met. She would joke about picking my "size." She is the only chaser I dated because my dumb-ass kid-self believed that women didn't chase pre-t trans guys in that way. I can't even talk about the worst of her shit without breaking down.

My scariest chaser stood outside my college dorm for over an hour and a half until an RA shoed him off. I was actually in my dorm the whole time. I saw him through the peep hole. Standing. Not doing anything else. Before me, he chased my other t guy friend until he was cut off for being creepy.

My first post-T chaser was a coworker. The dude was trying to insist on how I secretly wanted kids. Said he saw my eyes light up when a baby walked by. Said I would be a good "moth-I mean parent." I joked and said he should try carrying a baby... the dude started crying about how he feels robbed of having kids and gave me this weird fake story where his ex had an abortion. I know its fake. He said she "didn't have her period for a whole month" so he "knew" she'd gotten pregnant and when she had her period again he "knew" she aborted. He was always crying and always making shit up. And he was always trying to get me and him to hang out without my partner. When I'd call him out, he'd get defensive and start crying. God there's so much with this one fucking chaser.

Anyway... all this has caused me a LOT of gender trauma. I've heard so many people telling me what they want me to be that it has taken years for me to be comfortable in my skin as a trans man.

To anyone who wants a chaser... Relationship status does not stop chasers. Consent does not stop chasers. Chasers misgender regardless of how you express. Chasers will quit you the second someone gives them the version of the gender (or sex) they want. You do not want chasers. Stop saying people who get chasers are lucky.

General that stupid height !!!!!

• Upvotes

I ain't even sad about it anymore, im just SO annoyed because the ppl on my workplace are behaving so annoying abt it.

But besides the dead jokes and the fucking "haha this weights more than you" everytime we have to pick up something heavy, : my boss annoys me the most. Look, we have trouble to find fitting clothes for me but we did eventually find some that are fitting GOOD. Not perfectly but good. And my boss came back from vacation and when we saw eachother he immediately annoyed me again by pointing out that he doesnt like how my clothes fit.

AND I WOULD UNDERSTAND THAT IF IT WOULD ACTUALLY LOOK BAD, BUT IT LOOKS COMPLETELY OK AND I FEEL SO DYSPHORIC AND HE ALSO WANTS ME TO WEAR WOMEN CLOTHES BECAUSE THERE ARE THE SIZES SMALLER BUT THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY CUTTED DIFFERENTLY SO THEY ARE TOO SMALL FOR ME. I ALREADY WEAR WOMENS PANTS AND THEY BARELY FIT ME ON THE WAIST.

BUT FOR SOME REASON HE WONT UNDERSTAND THAT.

So he said he borrowed another "small clothes" but i genuinely believe that this isnt necessary. And trust me, I would 100% if the clothes were actually sagging. But they dont.

So leave me the fuck alone omg 😭

I want to be a boy

I'll never be one. I just wish I was a cis man and not have to be stuck in this gross body for the rests of my life. I will forever be female and it'll always haunt my shadow

My parents won't ever see me as a boy, my siblings won't ever see me as a boy, my friends won't ever see me as a boy and i can't even see myself as a boy.

I'm walking in a poorly done flesh suit, uncomfortable and irritating, and no matter how much I try to remove it its permanently sewed to my bones.

I can't transition either, I'll just be forever stuck there. was it that hard for God to make me a male

I hate being toxic Ftm male.

I hate that I learned toxic masculinity.
I hate that I hate being a female.
I hate that I was born female with this bullshit.
I hate that I was fucked from the beginning.
I hate that I will never have same experiences as a cisgender male.
I hate that I'm not man enough to be man.
I hate that I'm not trans enough.
I hate when the dysphoria demon kicks in, knocking at my door.
I hate that I did not had dysphoria till few months ago.
I hate that I don't have enough dysphoria to prove that I'm trans.
I hate that I'm not good enough to be a man.
I hate that I'm fucking short. [5'4]
I hate that I'm not muscular nor fucking attractive.

I found all the reasons.

Now I just have to find good things. The problem is, I do not know how to fix all these problems.

General Trans Halloween

“I hate gay Halloween” this “Gay Halloween that”

What about trans Halloween. Every year I work on a costume just to have to scrap it day of or make it less cool, just because I’m suddenly dysphoric. And it’s not like the new costume is going to be any better I’m still going to feel shity just in shity enough to go outside. This happens every year. Back up costumes don’t even work because I always end up hating that one too. God I hate trans Halloween.

(Idk if this is just a me curse or not)

Advice Needed How do you all cope with choosing your family over your life

• Upvotes

It's been a really rough time for me lately. I feel so sad all the time, I try to fill my time with as much noise and activities as I can but when I come back at night and lay down I can't help but stay up, thinking, and thinking, and thinking and I'm still left without an answer

It's been a long time since I've felt this sad, years and years. But I just can't go outside. I don't want to see anyone, I just want to lay in bed and cry even if my tears don't come out.

I have my (probably) last appointment before T on November 23rd. I haven't come out to my father and brother yet and my mother ignored me the two times I told her.

I can't picture a future where myself and my family can cohexist. Maybe I'm being too pessimistic but I just can't see it.

I don't want to vent to any of my friends, the only thing in their hand is to support me from a distance but nothing more.

I don't know what to do, I'm considering going to a therapist (even if they aren't specialized in trans/lgbt people) at this point because I just grow sadder and sadder every day.

It'd help a lot if y'all share your experiences, thank you

Sensitive Topic Being a trans person who grew up Mormon fucking sucks.

My family is from Utah (aka Mormon final boss) and I was born there.

Once you’re born, when you’re blessed as a baby they say “may she hopefully grow up to find a husband” or whatever. You never hear “may he find a wife” when they bless baby boys!

When you’re forced to go through the puberty you didn’t want and get those fat sacks of shit you never wanted to have on your chest, everyone’s calling you young woman young woman YOUNG WOMAN even if you don’t feel anywhere close to a woman and are not even a teenager yet.

A year or so after you find out you’re some sort of queer, gay marriage is legalized across the states. A few months after that, your church makes a horrible policy designating members in gay marriages as apostates and forbidding their children from being blessed or baptized until they’re 18 and, said policy requires those children to disavow queer rights to get those.

When you start high school, you’re forced to get up at 4am for this stupid class at your church called “seminary”. This would continue for all of high school and you’d end up hating it for robbing you of getting enough sleep and teaching you pointless stuff you don’t care about. You’d go to school feeling like a zombie for not getting enough sleep, because seminary yanked it away. One of the questions for a seminary test asks you to defend marriage being “between a man and a woman”.

One day when you go to church, the lesson is about marriage and how it’s only heterosexual. You immediately feel like you’ve been slapped in the face. At some point, the person leading the lesson asks the kids how they would defend marriage being between “a man and a woman” and you refuse to answer.

When you’re 16, the age where dating is a-okay, people begin to ask if you have a boyfriend. It starts to get grating.

At church, once you go into the young women’s room they pray about how we should be good wives and mothers, something you don’t want to be. Then there’s a “young woman” activity with the “young men” (actually just tween/teen boys) about ballroom dancing, and you sit out because everyone is obligated to dance with the opposite gender, someone you’re not attracted to. You cry in the bathroom about not being “normal” enough to want to dance with a boy.

A month later, they have an activity about planning your wedding, all while you’re 16 years old. You’d sit out of it and again, mope in a room alone for not being “normal” enough to want to marry a man.

Another month passes and the church finally rescinds its policy on the children of gay parents from a few years before, but the damage has already been done. There’s still their fucked policy on transgender people, which is basically “we totally accept you but if you do as little as use different pronouns we will give you membership restrictions.” You’re questioning your gender at the time, and this only further encourages you to repress yourself.

A year passes and quarantine happens. You don’t have to go to church for now, but you’re still forced to listen to this boring thing called “general conference” consisting of old people talk about things you don’t care about and are also forced to participate in this lame thing called “zoominary” which is basically just seminary on zoom.

Another year passes and you’re finally 18. You’re excited to graduate high school, but ultimately fail seminary and don’t graduate from that. You don’t care about being unable to graduate from seminary, but you worry you might be a disappointment to your family because of that. However, your actual graduation from high school is what matters to you more than your seminary graduation, as seminary graduation won’t get you a job.

However, after you turn 18, you’re pressured to go to these stupid “young single adult” wards. You refuse to, as you’ve heard horror stories of 30+ year old men hitting on 18-19 year olds there and don’t want to put yourself through that.

The pressure doesn’t end there, though. You’re then pressured to “take out your endowments” which is basically some lame ritual at the temple that ultimately means you have to wear magic underwear for the rest of your life. You don’t like the idea of that, as the top part of the magic underwear has symbols sewn into the part where your nipples would be, and the idea of that makes you extremely uncomfortable. You choose not to do it, but they NEVER STOP pestering you about it.

A tragedy happens in another country. Due to your empathy for the people suffering from that tragedy, you want to make a donation that would help the people there. However, people start demanding you give it to the church instead, because “oh you don’t know if donating to charities for that country will actually help the people!!!” when you know at that point that all the church does with the money you give them is either hoard it or use it to build temples in “exotic” countries.

You end up hating the Family Proclamation with every fiber of your being due to how much it was pushed on you and made you hate yourself as a result. You could recreate AM from I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream’s speech about hate to show how much you hate the Family Proclamation. If you could, you’d desecrate every copy of it you see as revenge for how much it made you hate yourself.

I wouldn’t live through all this all over again, not even if it meant I’d win a million dollars.

General i hate my hips so much

I cant wait to transition medically once im 18, my parents wont let me yet but the moment i can legally do it on my own im going to. i also cant wait for top surgery.

most things that cause me dysphoria can be helped through medical transition, except one. I hate my hips, i hate the fact my permanent skeleton is shaped this way, to preform something so undeniably female. I hate that i cant wear tight clothes without giving myself away, and i hate that ppl comliment my figure and call it "desirable" when it makes me want to tear my insides appart.

but what i hate most is the idea that they might still be growing and theres nothing i can fucking do about it, i just want to have a body i feel even slightly comfortable in but instead im forced to wait 2 more years and watch my body be destroyed and disfigured by estrogen

Sensitive Topic Rough Doctors Appointment

Hello everyone. This is my first post here. I’ll go ahead and warn anyone who has intense bottom dysphoria and issues regarding medical providers that this may not be a post you want to read. Fair warning.

I had my usual follow up today with my PCP. I have been on T for almost 11 years, I’m 27, and she’s the second doctor I’ve seen regarding my transition. I really like her! I want to make that clear before I get into it. She’s a phenomenal doctor overall.

I went in today for my usual appointment just to get my testosterone refills along with an issue I’m facing with prediabetes. In the past, the topic of a Pap smear has been brought up. I have rejected attempts to do one thus far. I don’t have penetrative sex and I’ve never even had anything go up into that area. I’m fully vaccinated against HPV. I’ve only been with one partner, my husband (cis), and we don’t have traditional penetrative sex and he has never interacted with that area. I know there are still risks involved not having one. The logical part of me is aware of that. It’s been brought up at every appointment I’ve had for the past few years.

Today was different. She phrased it as though it wouldn’t be an option. She stated we would get my physical out of the way along with the pap. I immediately panicked. I have very intense bottom dysphoria and it sent me into an intense panic. I tried to remain calm as she explained what it would involve and she stated if I wasn’t comfortable with her doing it, I could do it myself. I knew I couldn’t but I just wanted her to leave the room at that point. She did the traditional physical and then told me that I could let them know when I was done.

She left the room and I did make an attempt. I was shaking and hyperventilating. She stated that her other patients who have intense dysphoria choose this option with no issues. It didn’t help that medical assistants kept knocking on the door to see if I had done it yet. I couldn’t even get my hand to put the swab inside. I was shaking and tearing up. I cried in my car after the appointment.

I guess I’m writing this post because I feel like a freak. She made it sound like no one else has this issue. I told my husband and while he’s supportive of me, I think he also thinks I need to just suck it up and do it but won’t say it. (He’s in the medical field.) I can’t get anyone to understand the way my dysphoria impacts me. It put me into such a bad state of mind and I feel like I need to downplay how it made me feel because I’m afraid I’ll appear weak if I express how much it upset me. I don’t know why I’m even writing this all out. I just need to get it out and I feel like I can’t outside of the internet.

I feel weak. It has sent me into such an intense dysphoric state that I haven’t felt since before I started T. I feel stupid because of my reaction to this. I feel like I’m being dramatic but it seriously has thrown me into such a bad frame of mind.

Sensitive Topic T4T and fat, I have some questions that sound bitchy

does anybody actually like fat trans guys or were we all lying on tiktok again?

I see mfs saying they need a trans bear or they need a fat trans guy online all the time but in real life the proportions are off and I get it maybe it’s just my algorithm making things seem more common than they really are but at the same time I feel like I’m being subjected to one huge “my friend thinks you’re cute” prank and I’ve been through that enough in my 23 years on this god forsaken planet.

are there actually any t4t tops or am I going to need to figure out being a switch?

I really only prefer bottoming cause again Im Fat as Fuck and I don’t think it’s logistically sound for me to top. Cause like if I do some one is getting crushed and no one wants that. But id probably be fine with topping, there’s just also no strap on’s that fit me cause I’m too big.

is there even a chance for me in the south?

people be going places that are safer and I get that but I can’t exactly leave North Carolina for new york city. I don’t have that kind of fucking money. So am I just gonna be single forever? almost all the guys in my area aren’t even t4t they’re dating cis guys and Ik I sound like an incel when I say this but those dudes are musty and it gives me the ick when a trans man centers the feelings and sexuality of a cis person at all in their life (maybe im just militant idk and I don’t really care we are dying out here.) And I get part Of it is like financial stability and legal safety, I understand. It just feels like there’s a t4c apocalypse where I’m from, idk I know I sound like a chaser saying all this But why settle for a cis man?

tldr: im like fat and ugly and mean but I do genuinely want some advice.(also maybe if anyone knows how to lose two hundred pounds in a month hit me up with the details)

Advice Needed I feel too ugly to transition

Yup. That’s it.

I’m 163 cm tall and have a very feminine face. My hair is thin and my forehead is huge so any masculine-ish hair cuts I’ve had have made me look hideous. I wear make-up every day to hide my insecurities and to get at least some people to put up with me.

My hips are huge and binders/sports bras don’t flatten me enough. I’m chubby and losing 10kg within the past 6 months has barely changed my awful body. I still hate it more than anything.

Femininity is a cage I can’t escape from. I have to stay feminine enough for people to like me but to look masculine enough so I can live another day. (I wear a hoodie and sports bra every day and have a very short haircut to cope with dysphoria)

I’ve been bullied all my life by girls and guys. Every time I see any teenagers I want to die. Every time I see an attractive person online I want to die. I feel so inferior towards everyone.

I have two trans guy friends at school and I’m closeted. People at school really like them but they don’t like me. If I transition I’m afraid they’ll treat me worse and I’ll feel even more shit about myself.

I don’t deserve to be treated or seen as a guy. I don’t deserve to demand people to use my pronouns or a masculine name. I’m a genuine waste of oxygen.

I can’t live as a girl anymore. I want to die so badly.

I hate myself.

Transphobia I'm running out of T and my shitass stepfather conveniently can't add me to insurance until January.

(Vent/slight transphobia/overall T stress)

So I'm 20 and have been on T for 1.5yrs, my family moved to a different state kinda impulsively for my stepfathers work and I stayed behind for a few weeks with a relative because I had top surgery already scheduled in my home state. (Got it done now, I'm 6+ weeks post op and recovering well and moved with my family in the new state) But right before I got here my mom discussed with my stepfather that I'd need to be added to the insurance asap now that im back, and yeah long story short he didn't fucking do that and now apparently due to the fact that its October he can't update the insurance plan at all until January.

I have 5 weeks of T vials left at most and I have to take .4ml weekly. Testosterone vials are expensive as hell without insurance and were poor so there's definitely no way I'll be able to just get it anyways for full price. I've been struggling emotionally for a few weeks thanks to other physical and mental health issues that I can't get seen for yet because im not insured here so for the last 6 weeks I've been waiting for my insurance card to come in the mail, only to find out today that it was never coming because my stepdad (who is known for being transphobic and incompetent) that he never finished applying for me to be added. He doesn't likely know im on T (even tho its obvious considering I pass 70%-80% of the time.) But we never got along and he's obviously hated me for years now even before I transition, tho ofc it got worst once I did, so im not surprised he 'forgot'. Anyways, being off T in general isn't a death sentence under normal circumstances, but when I'm under high stress like I have been lately and now will be for the next 2+ months while I wait to find out if I can MAYBE be added in January and wait who knows how long for the card to actually come in the mail now, it likely will be more difficult off of it compared to normal since I'll be off it for more than a month, meaning theres a high chance I'll have some changes revert such as body fat, my fucking heavy period, and overall not feeling exactly myself all the time. Plus the stress I mentioned, and ofc my stepdad has been an asshole to everyone over the smallest things atleast once or twice a week to the point he doesn't talk to anyone for days and argues loudly when he does.

So yeah, not looking forward to any of this. And here I thought I'd be able to properly enjoy my first end of the year holiday season, finally being nearly dysphoria-free and flat for the first time in 10+ yrs.

Reallyyyyy fucking wish I could move out and get on my own damn insurance and not put up with my moms shitty husband but thanks to the job market being the worst I have yet to even get hired anywhere to even start saving up to do so. I apply to places all the time and have gone to many interviews only to be ghosted everytime no matter how many times I reach out. I feel pretty hopeless at times here thanks to that and my stepdad, my mom and younger brother are extremely accepting and supportive besides him. He calls me my correct name and pronouns most of the time but is still obviously not trans supportive and is an obnoxious trumpie. I guess what im looking for in posting this is some reassurance that im not gonna explode or something being off T that long and that maybe someone else understands my struggles at home and job wise, because I feel incredibly stuck and worry that im just not trying hard enough somehow.

(Oh and advice T wise if anyone has any, cause idk if I should just do my shots as normal until I run out or what, but that's probably all I can do for the healthiest outcome.)

Advice Needed I think I am ftm but I am unsure

This is my second time posting here, in my first post I was already questioning a lot of things but i thought more deeply about some aspects and want to share them again more clearly and ask for advice.

This is going to be very long and English isn’t my first language but I 20(AFAB) have recently started to allow myself to question my gender identity. Since I was little i always felt a sense of belonging around boys my age (pre puberty). I quickly realized at 7 I was attracted to girls and always envied guys for being able to date girls “legally” since I was raised in a very religious conservative family. I told myself I wanted to be a boy because I could like girls freely and be myself since I hated all the gender roles assigned onto me for being a “girl” but loved whenever I could do boyish stuff, which is probably the first heavy sign of me probably being ftm.

I burried all those ideas after puberty since suddenly boys excluded me since I was a girl to them and after deeper thinking about my feelings I came to the conclusion that what I felt was deep betrayal by everyone in my surroundings. Boys wouldn’t look at me like I was one of them anymore, my family got stricter with enforcing gender roles onto me and on top of that my body did things I dreaded it to do ever since I learned about puberty.

I started to accept myself as lesbian at 16 fully because I came to realize that my “attraction” towards men was purely forced to fit in and bc I was more jealous and envious. I wanted to be them not be with them but being trans still didn’t cross my mind because i thought I had my answer now with being “lesbian”

I always had male avatars in every game because it felt “natural” as well as always having a more masculine style and gender expression. I always felt happy when I was mistaken as a boy.

In my first post I said something along the lines of not being sure if I am ftm bc I felt connected to my female identity and after deeper thought I think it stemmed from deep fear and hatred. I fear/feared that I would lose the only kind of relationship dynamics that I grew up with or rather the ones that I took part in growing up and the deep resentment towards men due to all the years of betrayal and hurt inflicted by the patriarchy onto me, whilst also being heavily appalled by the idea I would be straight if I where to be ftm. Because it feels like all the confusion and pain of growing up as a “lesbian girl” was for nothing.

I claimed a female identity sorely out of spite to prove a point against patriarchal views imbedded deeply onto out society. I hated how society treated me and ultimately how men hold themselves above women which is why I still feel scared and unsure if I am ftm. It feels like this saying “becoming what u hate” and I feel like I betray everything I grew into.

I always prayed to be a boy, I daydreamed and dreamed being a boy/ in a male pov, I always got happy being perceived as male whilst also hating it because I felt like I need to claim femininity to fight against the system.

Yes, I thought of pressing a button that would turn me into a man but i couldn’t bring myself to fully answer it imagining pressing it in this “world”. What I mean is I could only answer this question fully without hesitation if I was thinking of being born in a fictional world that erases my entire history.

I also like the idea of looking into the future as a man but starting T means having bottom growth which makes me uneasy and I am not entirely sure if I am comfortable with a penis since most of my felt dysphoria comes from my upper body. It might be one of the many blockages I still have that won’t allow me to think about certain things in terms of potentially being ftm which is why I am coming here with this.

Thank you for reading, any advice or insight would be highly appreciated and feel free to answer questions in case there is missing context/logic gaps

General Was gonna go to an LGBTQ+ group meetup but chickened out. I'm lonely.

TW: brief mention of transphobia.

Today I found out about an LGBTQ+ social group that meets up in a spot about 30-40 minutes from where I live. I planned on going, but I haven't been driving very long and the idea of driving so long on unfamiliar roads psyched me out. Sadly it only meets up monthly, so I'll have to wait a while.

I'm so lonely, guys. I live out in the middle of nowhere. My friends are all long-distance. I'm holed up with my parents for the time, and theyexclusively deadname and misgender me, sometimes openly deriding my identity.Even my cat prefers hanging out with my parents over hanging out with me.

I just want to be around people who get it. People who make me feel light and free. I want to have a partner -- at 28 I've never had a real relationship, and I'm so touch-starved.

Since I wasn't able to make it to an in-person meet, I figured I'd come on here to vent and see if anyone would just talk to me a little, if that's allowed.

I hate how much external validation I grave

I wish I would have somebody that sees me as a guy and reassures me, constantly. Also in a sexual aspect. I hate this body so much but I want a guy to touch me in places gay guys do. I want to be touched at my stomach not my chest. At my upper back instead of my waist.

I even thought about paying somebody monthly to reassure me over text. But then again it would have to be kind of naturally in conversation or my brain won’t believe they really do see me as a guy. This is soo pathetic. Why do I grave this so much? I should be fine with knowing who I am and be able to manage dysphoria but I’m not. I fucked up my last relationship because I texted with somebody in a sexual manner just because I wanted to be called “good boy” while my ex was asleep.

I’m also so scared of doing anything medically due to being surrounded by unsupportive people. I think I’d need somebody to just tell me to do it, to man up ig. It’s pathetic.

I looked into forcemasc but all content I found was basically puppy play. I don’t know how to get the validation I grave

Sensitive Topic Lookism and my happiness

It’s been getting more and more unbearable lately to have some of the tools to transition at my disposal, but a painful, never ending fear of lookism if I were to transition. That is, as a 5’5” female of average to below average looks, I know that—if I were to transition—I would be no smoking hot, 6’0” whatever the hell type of guy who I have so fervently envied all of my life. You could make the argument that I am infatuated with being a conventionally attractive man and not a man, simple and done, but if I had the option to be that cisgendered, above 5’11”, conventionally attractive male and leave this wretched form behind, I would in less than a second. And what do you call that? All I do is look at the beautiful men around me and observe them, and it makes me feel nothing but sorrow. I know I could go on t and be a man, but what would be the point if I would stay this height and not be as attractive as them? There would be none, at least not to me and in a society that progressively only values looks. I would rather choose the safe option and be slightly above average height as a woman and of OK looks. Essentially, if I transition, I lose what little I have now. And this feeling hasn’t gone away for as far as I can remember, and it will never go away, and all I can do is bury it deep inside me and learn to accept, although all I do is mourn. And that’s all I can do.

Sensitive Topic My medical autonomy was removed so I did the unthinkable (TW: SH)

I’m 33. I came out when I was 26. I probably started feeling dysphoric when I was about 8, but I was never given the language or space to explore it. The main coping mechanism I used was disconnecting and disassociating from my body, which led to a life long struggle with hygiene, weight, diabetes, alcoholism, self harm and suicide attempts.

I tried to get top surgery but was continually told I was too unhealthy to do it. I was stuck in a position where I had to solve my issues (bodily neglect) before solving the root (the dysphoria). I’m recently one year sober from alcohol. My diet is pristine. I take my meds regularly. My A1C is 5.3 down from 9.4. I’d done the work. I was ready. I got the consult with the plastic surgeon. They said my bmi needs to be 33 and mine is 36. They said, ‘there’s no guarantee, but come in and we’ll talk about it.’

I thought I was a shoo-in:

  1. I’ve shown that I can make healthy choices and have the discipline to sustain them.

  2. My binder is ruining my back and it’s affecting my breathing. I’ve been wearing it for 7 years straight, 10-12 hrs a day. It’s largely the reason I don’t exercise, outside of the walking I do as an obligate pedestrian

  3. I’m well into adulthood and I’ve been out for 7 years. There’s no question over whether I’m mature enough to make this decision for myself or if I’ve thought about it long enough.

  4. I have an incredibly supportive community which greatly optimizes the prognosis for trans people. I live in a very blue city in a fairly blue state. I’m openly trans at work and very protected by upper management. They’ve offered to not only give me 3 weeks off to recover, but also pay me during that time. My very supportive sister lives nearby and is a wound nurse who can keep an eye on me. I’m intending to stay with my mother, who is also a veteran nurse and can help me manage cleaning and care. I have friends and a trans gf who all support me whole heartedly.

  5. My insurance covers this procedure. I had a letter of recommendation from my therapist as well as a referral from my primary care.

After weeks of jumping through hoops and hoops and hoops of healthcare administration, doing the job that frankly they should be doing (checking my insurance for coverage, sending paperwork back and forth between them and my therapist and my pcp), I got in to the office and there was a gown on the bench. ‘Surely this means there’s a chance’. The surgeon had me tell him why I felt I needed top surgery. I told him everything, including why I can’t lose the weight and ended it saying ‘I understand there’s a risk involved with my weight, but I’ve weighed the risk and benefit and I believe this would fall under informed consent to proceed with the surgery.’

Wrong. He said ‘with my informed consent, I can’t do this procedure on you with the risk it poses. It’s the hospital’s policy we don’t proceed until you reach the target bmi. But why don’t we talk about what the procedure will entail’.

I started sobbing immediately. This is was the hospital I could reach and for financial reasons, this was the only one I could afford. To me, at the moment, the door shut. I couldn’t lose the weight to get the surgery and they wouldn’t do the surgery until I lost the weight. I. Was. Not. Getting. Surgery. Ever. (At least this was the headspace I was in). I was so upset, so angry. ‘I don’t want to hear about a procedure I’ll never have, results I’ll never get. I just want to go home’. It felt like a humiliation ritual, because the gown was there, meaning he knew he reject me but also figured he’d examine me. No one has seen my chest in 7 years. So I left. I got on the bus alone. Went home alone.

I started realizing that no one was going to see this as urgent as me. I was the only person that could conceptualize how much pain I was in and what I’d be willing to do. I took a kitchen knife to my chest and tried to cut away my chest myself. It was part determination, part rage.

I thought I could do it. I knew it’d be painful but Im not a stranger to self harm. I figured it was just meat, that I could cut through and then go to the hospital and they’d patch me up. Then what would they do? Sew them back on? It would look grotesque but I didn’t care, I just want them gone.

It didn’t work. I noticed some spots I thought might be arteries so I got scared and stopped. I had a friend drive me to the ER.

I feel so much shame for doing what I did. I felt like I failed myself and I failed the trans community. I worry that this will make me look ‘unstable’ and just give them more reason to deny me.
