Because that sub got really popular around the time there was a wave of posts about being depressed and stuff like that. They got really popular and that sub and me_irl skyrocketed in popularity so a lot of people associate it with depressed memes even though that isnāt what it started with. Itās mainly been slightly absurdist humor thatās partially rooted in reality at the same time. Meirl moves away from the depressed memes and went back more to its roots and me_irl well, went to shit more than it already was. Peaking around the time they got ābamboozledā the first time and then continued to fall for the same stupid shit.

Maybe its because I've been forced to read Ponting for a class, but some would argue that the earth sucks because we decided that being hunter gatherers wasn't the cool thing to do anymore. The development of agriculture, which lead into urban states, then culminated into the concept of power. The conception of power really fucked us up. After you wipe things out as an alien, I'll happily stick around and try out this foraging thing and kick it with your alien bros. Credit sucks anyway.

You could do it in Alaska. Plenty of federal land that you could live on, albeit not necessarily legally. But some of the land ranges are absolutely massive and no one would really bother you. Gotta deal with the cold tho...

I mean, I guess you're right to an extent but when people are constantly roaming and not keeping any possessions save for what can be carried, it's not the same scale of power we see today. Once humans settle and develop land, build a society that is stationary, hierarchies form and thus power is of importance.

Appreciated. I actually ended up ordering 2 off another Amazon listing. They are the shitty knockoff ones, but honestly I like it better that way.
Now that I see this was something an artist created intentionally (instead of being a case of r/engrish) it's lost a bit of the magic for me. Plus now I feel bad for buying cheap shit from China instead of supporting this artist.
Edit: I cancelled my order on Amazon, but now that the magic has significantly waned, I probably still won't buy the one off Etsy, either.

I did design work for patches as a graphic designer, I have some idea of how it's accomplished. There's no reason the patch couldn't have been much closer to the picture on the left, even if the embroiderer had to reproduce it from the photo.
I can't imagine why the product you got was so different from the photo, I like the advertised design better than what you got, but that's just preference.
