MEGATHREAD 2026/27 Semester 1 AUTUMN/WINTER: where are you going on Erasmus?

Every semester there will be a megathread for the people that are currently on Erasmus, internship or studying abroad in general. Spot someone in the same city as you? Maybe your very first friends can be met on this thread!

You can post whatever you like here, you can also post your comment like this:

• Where are you on Erasmus (Country + City)? Why did you choose this city/country?

• How is your experience so far? (If you are already there!)

• How you found accommodation?

• Advice for future students in your country + city

Are you a student going on your erasmus in Spring 2027? This thread might help you

Old thread: MEGATHREAD 2025/26 Semester 2 Spring: where are you going on Erasmus? : r/Erasmus

* This megathread is earlier than the usual ones. This is so that others can maybe find people who go to the same city as them and to already engage in conversation for that. But the thread stays up until January for sure!

Accommodation MEGATHREAD - Looking for your Erasmus room/studio?

Hey there! Are you about to go on exchange on your Erasmus but haven't found accommodation yet? No worries!

Below are some sites that can help you find accommodation in the country you are going to. So far, all the countries have been listed, so plenty of websites to pick from to get your accommodation ready. Some websites do not have an English version, keep that in mind. And remember:

NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

None of these websites have paid any sort of advertisement to be featured here nor am I as a moderator receiving any type of commission. I want r/Erasmus users to get their accommodation as cheap, clean and good as possible.

That being said, some websites do request money for you to have a subscription to them. It is your own responsibility if you choose to do this. Every country should have options for free room searching.

This list will stay pinned in the sub to help others. Remember: If you see an accommodation site that is not to be trusted, please let me know! If any site is deemed very untrustworthy, it will be removed instantly.

For (most) Erasmus countries:
Spotahome - https://www.spotahome.com/
Uniplaces - https://uniplaces.com
Housinganywhere - https://housinganywhere.com
Facebook groups
Airbnb - https://airbnb.com Erasmusu - https://erasmusu.com/

Most students find their accommodation through Facebook groups, so make sure to have an account ready and join as many housing groups for your city as you can. Remember that there are also a lot of scams on Facebook. You can recognize these by something being too good to be true (a 500 euro apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, for example, such a thing costs 2000 minimum) or if the person posting it immediately asks you to pay.

Extra tip for finding accommodation in most Erasmus countries:

- Join the ESN whatsapp groupchats of your city before you go (you can usually find this on links on their instagram page or on their facebook page). Around the end of the semester (december/january, may/june) people start leaving their places and put this inside the groupchat. Take your chance and grab a room from previous Erasmus goers!

Oh oh, HELP! I still have not found accommodation with any of these websites!

Try to go to the subreddit of the city you want to do your semester(s) in and see if you can find anything there. For example, you want to do your Erasmus+ in Rome, so go to r/Rome and search the searchbar for 'housing' 'accommodation' if you cannot find anything make your own post. If nothing there, go to r/Italy. Natives in their own country know the housing market best!

Have you been on Erasmus before (or you've lived in one of these countries and you know the housing market well), tell us which accommodation website is missing and I will add it (if the name is reputable, that is).

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Looking for Interviewees!!

• Upvotes

Hi everybody,

we are A-level students at a German high school, and as part of our project, we are exploring the topic “Generation Erasmus.”

For our final project, we are creating a journalistic-style report that combines survey results, interviews, statistics, and studies. Our goal is to examine the impact of Erasmus+ on participants and their views on Europe.

Therefore, we would also like to incorporate the perspectives of (former) participants. You could help us out to conduct an interview (approx. 25-35 minutes) in English! It does NOT have to get recorded - although it would be helpful - and it will ONLY be presented to our school community.

If you are interested and want to help us out, do not hesitate to write me us a PM!

Thanks!!

Any experiences studying at UCAM? Or in Murcia in general?

I want to go to Spain for a semester and noticed courses that best allign with my degree and what i want to do with it (while at many other unis I would be taking quite random courses), so I started considering it as an option, but I never heard of anyone who went to Murcia.

Are there many exchange students at UCAM? And how is Murcia as an erasmus destination?

People who got accepted for the Romanian Government Scholarship for bachelor's degree share your experience please!

Hi! It would be helpful for others who didn't get accepted this year to know what they need to improve and expect later on after the acceptance! We all would really appreciate it if those who got accepted for the Romanian Government Scholarship any year would share what GPA, extracurriculars, and anything else they had.

I got rejected this year. I had a 4.5/5.0 GPA; I applied for Civil Engineering for bachelor's studies; mentioned SAT score of 1190, but my TOEFL was 71 at the time; didn't have meaningful extracurriculars, especially got nothing related to the major..I chose University of Bucharest for my language year, Technical University of Cluj-napoca and Politechnica University of Timisoara for studies. Next year I'm gonna be applying to some Computer Science major and I'm planning to work on getting some related extracurriculars. My SAT didn't improve but I now have a TOEFL score of 4.5/6.0 (90/120). And I already started learning Romanian but I still will be requesting a language year. Oh, and I'm from turkmenistan if it matters.

How many Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programmes can one apply to for the 2027 intake?

Hi all,

I’m a recent graduate (computer applications, data focus) preparing for the 2027 intake of Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters.

I’m unsure about the limit on applications. Older sources mention a maximum of three programmes per year, while others say that rule no longer exists. Many guides still repeat the three-programme rule, so I can’t tell what’s current.

For those who applied in the last cycle:

  1. Was a limit mentioned on the official catalogue or on a programme’s page?
  2. Did anyone you know run into trouble for applying to more than three?
  3. How many did you apply to, and would you change that?

I have about five programmes that fit my background and want to know if I have to cut the list. looking for genuine help. would love to connect who is applying for the 2027 intake.

Erasmus cancelled due to limited funds

I didn’t even know that it’s possible to cancel one’s Erasmus due to this, and was told right now as I was already done with sending my documents over to the host uni for official admission, after the nomination. I’m a bit down in the slums and would just love to know if someone else has been through this. Right now I’m not really hoping that they will get the funds for us, second semester folks. They mentioned in their announcement that all funds went to the folks who left for the 1st semester and suddenly they found out that the Erasmus budget is 30% lower than in previous years… I don’t even know how you find that out after already nominating people and sending them away.

They offered us a no-grant Erasmus (not going to take that for financial reasons) or the chance to go to another form of Erasmus limited mobility program, since for my case for example I was planning to leave in my last non-terminal year.

Is ‘Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs’ actually worth it?

The idea of learning from an experienced entrepreneur while working with them sounds great, but I’m scared it might feel like a low-level internship where you do repetitive tasks? Or would I be able to get involved in higher-level tasks?

Are the hosts actually successful, or are they mostly small businesses that don't offer much real mentorship or valuable experience? Has anyone participated or browsed the host profiles?

Is it worth applying, or would I be better off looking for a good internship or temporary/part time job instead?

And also whoever has done erasmus in the uk is it worth it or not? Cuz i dont wanna be under the books 24/7, i want to enjoy too…

Erasmus+ Internship Where to find Traineeships?

Hi everyone,

I'm a cybersecurity student, training as a SOC analyst, and my studies require me to take part in a 4 months internship that I've decided to complete via the Erasmus+ Traineeship.

My school doesn't have any agreement with foreign companies so the research is almost completely on us students.

I've contacted around 100 companies both by email and by applying to jobs on LinkedIn and Indeed, but until now no one got back to me for an interview.

I always personalize emails and study the company, which is why I haven't applied to a great number of companies.

The response I usually get are:

- "Background checks are difficult to do with candidates that live abroad"

- "You need to know the country's language fluently as you would need to communicate with clients"

- "Our internships are minimum 6 months long"

If I don't find an internship by the end of november I won't be able to leave, so if you have any suggestions I'm all ears.

Do you have any insights?

I will be going for a semester and my university gave me these options. I am studying fine arts. I am a photographer and would love to collab with local artists, I love art, concerts, punk scene and I would prefer to go somewhere where people are approachable and friendly. My budget is quite low generally.

Erasmus+ staff mobility in Japan

Hello,

I work as a school staff member in a French secondary school. We were recently told that it is now possible to do an Erasmus+ stay in Japan. A colleague of mine would like to go, and I would join her if the project goes ahead. So far, though, she hasn't received any reply from the Japanese high schools and middle schools she has tried to contact.

If any of you have been to Japan through Erasmus, either as staff or as a student, I'd love to hear about your experience:

Were you hosted in a French school in Japan, or in a regular Japanese school?

How did you establish the first contact (email, intermediary, existing partnership, etc.)?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad Erasmus Computer Science Faculties (Data Science major)

Hello,
I'm currently in my 3rd semester of Data Science engineering degree from Poland and I think of going for an Erasmus exchange for the Spring/Summer semester.

Right now, my top two considerations are Milan (Universita degli Studi di Milano) and Vilnius (VILNIAUS KOLEGIJA / Higher education institution), but I'm open to other recommendations (from people who did an exchange in the same field) and also stories with experiences from mentioned universities.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the Neurasmus website?

I'm planning to apply for the Neurasmus Erasmus Mundus scholarship for the 2027 intake, but the official website doesn't seem to be working.I've been trying to access it, but it isn't loading. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue, or is it just on my end?

I am constantly sick and it's ruining everything

So like most people, I'm here to complain. I'm doing an exchange semester in Canada and I'm halfway through. I will be home before Christmas so it's not that long but basically since September I've had a persistent cold that eventually turned into pneumonia and I am seriously starting to hate this whole experience because of it.

I missed a full week where I really went absolutely nowhere because I could barely get out of bed, then got antibiotics which made me a lot better and then I at least did some stuff even though I wasn't 100% ok because I just could not stand feeling so isolated in my tiny room anymore. Then my boyfriend came to visit and we did some travelling which was absolutely amazing, but after coming back I was so exhausted again and just wanted to sleep, now he's left and I am feeling the sickness come again. I have this agressive cough and shortness of breath and my chest feels heavy and it's obvious that something is not right. I get bouts of fatigue after just a few hours of sitting at the library or standing too long in the shower, sometimes I am just walking down the street and all my muscles suddenly hurt and I feel an overwhelming need to lie down. But then I lie down and feel kinda okay, so I think it's gotten better and go to the library or spend time with someone and then after, I feel worse so I sleep and feel better and the cycle repeats.

I am debating whether I should go to the doctor again because I don't have a fever and I feel so much better than those few days of my last sickness where I legit could barely stand and I hate going to the doctors for something not serious enough (hate going to doctors in general).

I am constantly stuck in the mental loop of thinking "stay home so it doesn't get worse again" and thinking that it's not that bad (esp since I have comparison from that serious previous sickness) and feeling FOMO from not being social at all. I am an introvert, too much time with people overwhelms me and so just a few low-stakes social outings a week would be enough to keep me happy, I don't need to go to parties and drink, I basically haven't drunk since the pneumonia. But right now I am so exhausted, especially since I've basically skipped 1 month of social life (2 weeks sick + 2 weeks boyfriend's visit) and the groups have basically formed during that. I know singular people that I like and I'm in a few groupchats but I am not a core member anywhere and it feels exhausting trying to make plans and having to remind people of my existence while not being sure if they actually like me while I am so physically tired and the whole thing is already out of my comfort zone, or, when someone actually invites me to do something for once, I decline bc I'm fatigued or I'm scared that too much activity is gonna make the sickness worse.

My immune system isn't great at home either but this is next level. I admit I don't eat the best (not enough protein mainly and also candy and shit but I also think many people have worse diets) but I also eat LOTS of fruits and vegetables every day and I always eat break´kfast, I eat when I'm hungry. I get ginger shots, take vitamins, all the shit. I also have to say that I was not going on any crazy benders not even the first week like some of the people, I was mostly just going to bars and then returning back at okayish hours. But my body still can't cope with this, I feel bad like 80% of the time and when I don't, I feel like I'm just waiting for the next wave to hit.

I am just so exhausted even if compared to being at home, my schedule is so light as I don't work here (can't) and only have classes 3 times a week. But the fatigue is ruining everything, "putting myself out there" is already hard enough and it just doesn't feel worth it in this state. Then I am alone, feeling bad both physically and mentally due to not enough social contact, and I often find myself fantasizing about going home. I'm not close enough with anyone here and most of my friends at home and I work on that "meet once a month or 2 bc we are busy" schedule and at most send a meme so it feels weird calling them just to complain, my closest friend is also on exchange and travelling and having a good time so I don't wanna ruin that. I am always calling my boyfriend but since I'm always telling him about the same issues it's not really helping anymore and it also just reminds me that he was just here and then left and now I won't see him for 2 months.

I just feel so defeated and unmotivated and so so tired, like I wanna sleep for these two months and then wake up in time for my flight home.

Is anyone applying to CLMCE, MAGMa, or GLOCAL this year?

I was thinking, why are we all going through this process separately when we could just be friends? 😭 I’d love to meet people who are applying to these programmes, get to know you all and have someone to talk to about this whole Erasmus thing.
Imagine we actually get in and look back at this post someday. Anyway, if you’re applying, please comment or DM me. I’d love to make some friends before we potentially end up in Europe together. 💌

Motivated letter (CDE)

Hello everyone, anyone with information on Copernicus program of Erasmus? I will be applying for the program soon and I wanted to clarify something about the motivation letter that the program requires.

Will it be a set of questions to be answered? Or is it going to be a 1-page motivation letter (with specific # of words) answering why am I applying for the program?

Thank u
