back Question about my daughter’s rash

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi all, looking for some guidance on this rash on my almost 5yo. Started beginning of October with a few spots, has progressed to cover her back, quite a bit of her abdomen, groin creases and vulva, and a little bit starting to go down her legs now as well. It is occasionally a little bit itchy but otherwise isn’t bothering her at all. I thought it was Pityriasis versicolor so have been using ketoconazole shampoo as a wash and putting clotrimazole cream on it twice a day, doesn’t seem to have made any difference at all. Wondering if pityriasis rosea is more likely- but she didn’t have a herald patch or a significant viral prodrome. Only a slight cold a week or two before but no temperature and not out of the ordinary for a small child at this time of year.
She js otherwise completely fit and well with no medical conditions or allergies, she takes no regular medicines, no family history of skin disease apart from mild childhood eczema.

Thankyou!

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks How Accurate Are AI Skin Apps?

So this is alarming. Just downloaded the Skinalytica app, which I know is NOT a substitute for an actual dermatologist which I know I need to see, but just wanted to see what it would say. I have a small red mark on the side of my forehead since 2023 from getting burned by hair bleach when part of my skin wasn't protected with foil. It never heals and doesn't change shape. It just keeps trying to heal, but doesn't. It doesn't hurt or bother me unless I accidentally swipe it with my brush. How accurate are these app results and has anyone used this app? I only submitted one scan. I have this on a 3 day trial as this is a $60 app.

So I think my skin have closed comedones and enlarged pores near nose right? But the thing is I’ve had these for years now. And no matter what I do they just never neverrrrrrrr fade away. I tried niacinamide, glycolic acid, all aha bha and then regular simple routine, WHAT NOT … I’m not even using fatty alcohol based products and use a simple gentle cleanser and wear sunscreen daily. They just never ever go away…. So I routine for rn is very simple cause I didn’t wanna complicate it.
Am: clean face and then light gel based mosturizer and a calming sunscreen (my skin is combination type)
pm: gentle cleanser, salicylic acid or some days hyaluronic acid for hydration and light weight mosturizer. Idek whatsjit im d doing wromg. I try not to over exfoliate by glycolic and salicylic acid so I keep them 2-3 times a week even before when I used to use niacinamide or them all they never went away. HELPPP

scalp What is this? A mole or?

Post image

This is in my scalp and has been reoccurring for a year now. I do scratch it a lot. Doc said it’s just a mole and it’s fine. When I say I want to see a dermatologist they simply refuse. Will my scalp ever be back to normal on that spot? Should I try to get rid of the dark bumpy layer now or what can I do?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Is this/Unsure if this is ringworm? Need ID if possible please 🩷

first pic is after i wiped my face with a cleanser i’ve used for years, second is 5 mins after.
no changes in skincare
this is on my right cheek under my cheekbone
it’s been there for about a month (?) but i rarely notice it and thought it was just a patch of uneven skin and it would go away but it seems to have spread up near my ear in a short time.
the texture is a lot rougher than surrounding skin.
it has never been itchy until a little tiny itch here and there very recently.
it’s super unsightly and embarrassing, i’m going to the doctors but i’d prefer to just slap some antifungal cream on asap and be done with it
does this look like ringworm to you? or something else?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Very dry and red eyelids

This issue appeared at least 6 months ago originally but only lasted about a week and then about 2-3 months ago it started again. It causes my upper eyelid mainly to get super red and looks irritated and often leaves it with dry flakiness which becomes itchy but I usually try to avoid itching at all times. It sometimes appears under the eyes but very scarcely. I have also had it in the eye brows but that was only Once or twice.

general enquiry Paranoid about a “new” spot

Post image

I think the pictures a bit blurry, but the spots not much darker than my skin. I just noticed this today, under my armpit about level with my pec. The spots no bigger than my pinky nail. I know light-brown and misshaped spots can be dangerous and I’m a mildly anxious person. But because it’s in an almost “hidden” area I don’t know if this is new or if I haven’t noticed it before. (You’d be impressed by how little I notice on my own body). If I keep an eye on it how do I know when I need to be worried?

Google will tell me I’m dying so I’m not even bothering. I do have (mostly facial) freckles, but none are like this that I’ve noticed.

Edit: heavily cropped because it wasn’t a flattering picture. But I can probably do better.

Its smooth and feels warmish ( not physically but mentally) . Any thing i could do use ( ointments and such ) or maybe its name and cause ( so i can prevent it from happening any further ) .

legs/feet What’s wrong with my legs?

I’ve had this for almost 2 years now. It doesn’t grow, change, or spread. They’re itchy raised bumps on both of my shins. I’ve tried eczema creams and ointments, moisturizers, light exfoliating rarely mainly to see if it would do anything, and psoriasis creams. It can also be painful at times. My hair in those spots are brittle or just don’t grow back like “normal”.

I was getting changed a few minutes ago and just noticed this new red splotch on my inner leg up by my groin area.

It was not there yesterday as far as i know of. It isn’t itchy right now and I would not have noticed it if it wasn’t itchy. It’s the only one. Any help as to what it could be would be appreciated!

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Help needed with this situation

Post image

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice on my current skin situation shown in the photo. These flare-ups don't happen all the time, but once they pop up, they are hard to get rid of.

I have oily skin and could really use some insight on how to handle them.

My Current Routine:

• Cleanser: Simple Refreshing Facial Wash (strictly just this)

• Moisturizer: Rituals Anti-Dryness Lotion (no strict preference, just what I'm using right now)

• Sunscreen: Recently switched to Re'equil Ultra Matte Dry Touch Sunscreen (was using Dot n Key before)

My Questions:

  1. How do I clean/wipe my face without triggering them? It feels like whenever I wash my face, they pop up. Even worse, if I am just gently wiping my face with a towel, they accidentally burst. How should I handle washing and drying my face to prevent this?

  2. How do I treat the leftover texture? Once the breakouts finally settle down, I am left with a distinct bumpiness on the skin in that exact spot. What can I use to smooth out that texture?

Appreciate any help, routine tweaks, or product recommendations you can share! Thank you!

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks My upper lip has a darker/orange color.

Post image

Male, 30, Caucasian, no history of skin conditions.

Over the last year or two I have noticed my upper lip getting an orange tint to it. The skin is also more textured than the other parts of my face.

I don’t eat many orange things in my diet, so I don’t believe it’s carotenemia. I use blistex multiple times a day, which has active ingredients of Dimethicone 2.0%, Octinoxate 6.6%, Octisalate 4.4%.

Ideally I would like to reverse this if possible.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Discoloration/redness on chin

Thumbnail

For a few years now, I've had discoloration on my chin. It looks like mild redness most of the time. Finding a dermatologist in Canada is almost impossible. Unless you're having a cosmetic procedure done and spending a lot of money, you're usually dismissed (in my experience anyways). Any doctor or dermatologist I've seen, hasn't really been able to tell me what it is. Does anyone have any idea what this could be. The skin looks a bit textured and maybe "leathery".

I'm super self conscious about it and hoping there is a way to fix it. Any ideas?

Visited a friend in Florida back in August. I live in Oregon. Since then, I've had an itchy sore on the top right side of my foot ever since. The skin around it is scaly and itchy.

I was wearing my Keen sandles then and have been wearing them ever since.

Any ideas?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Persistent dry patch on face

Hi! I have had eczema throughout my life and I’ve had dry patches on my cheeks since April. I assumed it was eczema, but they don’t itch often and just flake. They typically aren’t super red but one side is pink/red most of the time. How do I fix this? Thanks!

arms/hands Scaly rash for about 6 weeks

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi there, have had this rash(?) on my wrist for about 6 weeks now. I initially thought it was ringworm because it did look like there were two very small, adjacent rings and assumed I contracted it from the gym, from sweating and my wrist watch having a metal band clip and that it was scratching the skin.

I've tried both Lamasil and Lotramin. At times I've seen periodic shrinking, only to have had it almost fully rebound or perhaps get a bit larger and more scaly now.

It doesnt itch but the surrouding skin can certainly get itchy.

I'm trying Hydracortisone, as of an hour ago. There's a very mild burning sensation, like a 0.5/10 in terms of discomfort.

My guess at this point is contract dermatatis?

The scaly skin is relatively new; maybe a few days now.

I appreciate any guidance.
