face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Is There Anything I can do About This Texture? 🥺

Post image

I had pretty severe cystic acne in high school which cleared up around 8 years ago. Unfortunately, due to picking and using some pretty intense topical treatments that did more harm than good, I'm left with this skin texture that just won't go away.

Does anyone have recommendations for products/treatments that may help?

AM Routine:

  • Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel
  • Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream Barrier Moisturizer or Eucerin Urea Repair Day Face Cream
  • Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen

PM Routine:

  • The Body Shop Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter
  • Skinfix Gentle Gel Ceramide + Ectoin Cleanser
  • Beauty of Joseon Red Bean Water Gel
  • Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream Barrier Moisturizer or Eucerin Urea Repair Day Face Cream

1-2x per week:

  • Some variation of a hydrating face mask (usually Dr. Jart, Biodance or Ishizawa-Lab)

I tried microneedling once, but the derm was hesitant and said there won't be any difference as "there's no problem with my skin". I know it's not the worst problem to have but it still bothers me - especially under direct light where it's most visible.

I have a combination skin, and also sweat a lot from my face , I have developed this closed Comedonse since 3 months now, I have them only in the both side of my nose and undereyes , and lil bit in my forehead , I have been using my regular face wash (Demelan) which was previously prescribed by my dermat , and a normal gel based moisturizer, nothing else , I can't use sunscreen cause i live in a tropical part of my country (india) and also have sweat prone skin , so any kind of sunscreen basically made me sweat a lot as well , so I skip them most of the time , and also because I sweat a lot so sometimes I skip doing proper skincare too , so please help me out , what should I do now ..

back Dry patches on shoulders and back

I’ve had these dry patches on my shoulders for a few years and now I’m getting them on my back. They’re a bit itchy sometimes, but nothing too bad. It gets flaky when I scratch the area. I haven’t tried any ointments as I’m unsure of what to get. I used scented body wash and lotion (probably why I have these now that I’m thinking about it) but I don’t get these on my arms and legs. Any idea on what this is and suggestions on how to get rid of it? Thank you!

legs/feet What is this on my thigh? Noticed it this evening

Spotted on my upper thigh this evening. Brand new and wasn't there last week. Large slightly yellow bump (blister?) and some discoloration around the site. It's firm to the touch and I have no previous history of dermatological issues. I wasn't sure where else to go so posting here until I can see my GP possibly next week.

back Do these spots look like a fungal infection? (Pictures included)

Hi everyone,

I'm a 32-year-old female. I don't smoke and don't drink. I've noticed these spots on my back and shoulders that resemble fungi (they have a slightly circular/ring-like appearance). I'm trying to figure out if this looks like a typical fungal infection (like ringworm) or something else.

Details:

· Location: Back and shoulders

· Symptoms: None besides the spots themselves, not itchy, no pain

· Duration: Noticed them today; can't be older than a few days i think

I've attached some photos in the comments. Does anyone have experience with this? I'm planning to see a doctor, but I wanted to get some opinions in the meantime.

Thanks!

scalp Odd patch of skin on grandmothers scalp that has been there for over a month

Found this on my grandmothers scalp over a month ago and have been keeping an eye on it, it doesn’t appear to have grown but it hasn’t gotten better either. Does anyone know what it could be?

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I am having her make a doctors appointment tomorrow to get it checked out to be safe :)!

legs/feet What is this thing on my leg?

Post image

Hello,

I've had this thing on my lower leg for a long time now.

First, 5 months ago, my legs started to get red dots, some were ingrown hairs, some were filled with pus.

I waited to see if it would get any better and it did for a little bit.

But one pus wouldn't go away. It was inflammed, but i couldn't pop it. Then, one time while I was showering it popped and released pus and blood.

I wanted it to get better so I stopped shaving and removing my leg hair 2 months ago.

Nothing got better.

So now, I have this thing on my leg and I need help WHAT IS IT?!

It's not itchy, when i squeeze it a little bit of pus comes out, but just a small amount. The upper dot gets a bit bleeding when i squeeze it. It's not burning, it's just HERE.

Two months ago my doctor perscribed me antibiotics and antibacterial cream.

It hasn't changed a bit.

Please, help me.

I'm going to call my doctor and schedule an appointment with a dermatologist for sure, but what do you think it could be?

legs/feet Right big toenail turning black, widening pigmentation, and now almost detached. Could this be fungus, trauma, or something more serious?

I'm looking for advice from people who have experienced similar nail problems. I know Reddit can't diagnose me, but I'd appreciate hearing about similar experiences and what kind of specialist I should see.

Context

I've had unusual dark pigmentation on my toenails, particularly my right big toenail and right middle toenail. The dark pigmentation appeared before the nail started lifting, and I noticed it changing and seemingly widening over time. I play some sports and have also used running shoes that were becoming worn out, with the sole deteriorating and part of the front sole coming loose. I'm wondering whether repeated pressure or trauma could explain the changes.

Also, the black toenail has been happening for about 2-2.5 months. Just in the last month, the black toenail started to become a bit worse with the nail lifting off the nail bed

What has happened to my right big toenail:

The nail developed a dark black/gray area that appeared to grow or change over time. At one point, part of the dark area seemed to be clearing in the middle. A white area appeared, which I believe was caused by the nail lifting away from the nail bed. The nail has become brittle, rough, and crumbly, with what looks like debris underneath. The nail is now almost completely detached, with the remaining attachment near the cuticle/base. There is dark, black-looking material (in spots) underneath the lifted nail. I initially thought there might be red material too, but I was mistaken; I don't see red material.

I went to a dermatologist (~ 1.5 months ago) inquiring about my middle toenail band. The dermatologist told me that a biopsy might be better but was about 95% sure it wasn't melanoma. They thought the pigmentation might be a hemorrhage, although they weren't certain. They also mentioned that the width of the dark area and its growth were concerning enough to consider further evaluation. The dermatologist only saw my middle toe black band, not my thumb toe.

What I'm wondering:

Could this be a fungal nail infection (onychomycosis), especially given the yellowing, brittleness, crumbling, and nail separation?

Could repeated sports-related trauma cause the black discoloration and eventually make the nail detach?

Has anyone experienced a nail that became black first and then gradually lifted off?

Does this pattern warrant a nail biopsy or evaluation by a dermatologist who specializes in nail disorders?

If you've had a similar experience, what testing helped distinguish fungus, trauma, and other causes?

scalp Help with identifying

I have these all over my head. I was referred to a dermatologist. Went to that appointment but the lady didn't even evaluate me. She didn't look at the lesions and was completely annoyed that I was there. Im in Ontario canada so my referral is no longer valid and I feel cheated since the dermatologist didn't even give me the time of day since it was an appointment covered by OHIP.

Sometimes they are tender and have been growing more over the last 4 years. Any advice or thoughts on what type of moles these might be. I've tried looking them up on Google but they don't look like what I see online.

All thanks to any comments.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Pyogenic Granuloma- child’s tongue

My child (age 5.5) had four red taste buds for a few months in the spring/ early summer. The dentist noticed them and said we’d keep an eye on them. By August, they had developed into more of a raised bump. We took her to the dr then and got referred to a paediatric dermatologist- the doctor thinks it’s a pyogenic granuloma. We are still waiting for that appointment but getting worried as the bump continues to grow quite significantly. Do you think we should take her to an ER or urgent care and get her seen sooner? Assuming they would just tell us to wait for the specialist appointment, which is why we haven’t yet. But I also don’t want to put things off if it’s a serious problem.

It doesn’t seem to hurt her other than stinging eating certain foods, and it does bleed.

I’ve included photos of how it looks today, what it was like in August and what it was like in July. Sorry if the photos are blurry- she’s a wiggly child haha.

I did also post this in ask a dentist because I’m unsure of who would deal with this kind of thing!

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Please help me to get rid of my acne scara

Ive been struggling with acne scars(the red and on surface level type) ever since I was 13 and i am currently 16 . Since i dont get a lot of acne, the only acne scars i have are the ones that have been left by past purges. I never go outside without putting on a bunch of makeup because i hate how it looks like i have a full face of acne constantly.

ive been to 2 dermatologists and they both gave me stuff that didn't help me at all. I am about to go to my 3rd session but im already starting to lose hope. The routines they gave me are

dermatologist 1:biotrade acne out oxy wash, mask rym acne emulsion and biotrade acne out hydro active

dermatologist 2:ivatherm cicaderm, ivatherm ivapur k and ivatherm toleriskin

I have normal skin but with an oily nose that also has sebaceous filaments , ive been using the things that the 2nd dermatologist gave me + my centella cleanser from skin 1004 and ive been seeing improvements in my oily nose but nothing has changed when it comes to my acne scars.

Could someone look at the things my dermatologists gave me , more specifically, their ingredients and tell me if they actually gave me something that was worth trying? Let me know what i can do to improve the state of my acne scars.

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks I breakout every time I kiss

Post image

I have fairly clear skin most of the time. Yes, it can be sensitive, but I only really breakout when I’m not good about washing my face or changing my pillow case. The only real time I violently breakout in when I make out with boys. In high school my ex boyfriend gave me my first acne and it took awhile for my skin to fully recover and honestly I don’t if my skin has ever been the same. I’ve made out with people since then and I dealt with the same issues. It so unfair that I’m not allowed to kiss anyone and it doesn’t even matter if they have facial hair or not I just know it’s for certain I will have a full face of acne in the morning. It’s normally small little white head around my lips and nose. I made out with I guy this past weekend I my face literally looks like it has a rash on it. I made out with this guy before but very inconsistently over the course of a year and every time after we make out it is especially worse than with other guys. If anyone has any suggestions on how to prevent this PLEASE lmk. This has been such a frustrating experience and I usually end up spiraling about it and also it just hurts too.

legs/feet Struggling with eczema

I have dyshidrotic eczema and atopic dermatitis I’m on dupixent as well. I’m a dog groomer and the dyshidrotic eczema was caused by products I am no longer using I cannot ingest large amounts of soy or it will flare up my eczema. I’m currently struggling with what looks like hives but may not be, they are not bug bites (no fleas, no bed bugs, I sleep with my partner who does not have bug bites). I’ve had these off and on for about 6 weeks, on my arms, legs, ankles, feet, butt. At first I thought they were mosquito bites because I was out pretty late in shorts the first time they popped up but then they left and popped up in a different location. They start out as raised red circular bumps and are very itchy. The last picture is what they look like after I scratch them for a couple of days. I have tried taking Benadryl but I’m already on medication that sedates me so the Benadryl just makes it way too much

neck/chest/abdomen Is this shingles or could it be reaction to oral micronized progesterone?

Post image

On Sunday I started with a rash on my neck and scalp of some sort. It has evolved to this. A dr did diagnose it as shingles, but I am not 100 percent convinced. 44 year old female, did get a flu shot 2 days prior to rash.

I started progesterone 200mg about a month ago and had some pretty severe inflammatory break outs on my face. This is definitely itchy and sore with maybe an occasionally burny feeling but it’s not terrible however I am already on 90mg Cymbalta daily for anxiety so I don’t know if that’s managing the pain. It’s only on the left side. I am taking famciclover as a precaution but just wondering if you think this looks like shingles? I am wondering if it could also be a manifestation of some sort of reaction to the progesterone?

face/ears/eyes/nose/mouth/cheeks Advice for active cystic acne

My dermatologist prescribed Reticap 10 mg (isotretinoin), and I’ve been taking it for around 2–3 months. However, I’m still getting new pimples, including painful ones on my cheeks, and I haven’t seen much improvement so far.

My main concerns are:

  • I continue to get new breakouts despite taking the medication.
  • I have small bumps on my forehead that sometimes make me wonder whether everything is ordinary acne.
  • I have persistent dark marks left behind by previous breakouts.
  • My skin and lips have become quite dry, with some peeling and tightness from the treatment.
  • I’m worried about whether my treatment is working because the improvement has been minimal.

I’ve also experienced small, itchy bumps in the past, particularly after sweating or wearing heavy makeup. I’m not sure whether that is related to my acne or a separate issue.

I know everyone responds differently to isotretinoin, and I’m planning to discuss my progress with my dermatologist. I’m not looking to change my medication without medical advice; I’d just like to hear about other people’s experiences.

For those who have taken isotretinoin:

  1. Did you continue getting new pimples after the first 2–3 months?
  2. When did you start noticing a meaningful improvement?
  3. Did anyone experience persistent forehead bumps or itchy breakouts during treatment?
  4. If your skin wasn’t improving as expected, what did your dermatologist recommend checking?
  5. Did your acne marks gradually fade as your active acne improved?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially from people who started on a low dose. Thank you! ❤️

(If the title is backwards, sorry I don't know what happened) "Can my eyelid revert back to normal? "

This is my first time posting and probably not the best subreddit to post, but I've been really self cautious about my left eyelid creases for years.

I had a stye or some sort of infection related to my eye glands in my upper left eyelid a few years ago, and because it was on my eyelid crease it also changed its shape. It created 2 other creases due to the skin getting stretched creating a weird tripple eyelid I started hating. It gets to the point I only take photos on one side of my face, adjust my left eyelid to look decent on camera, and sometimes cry about it. Also sometimes if I'm tired my left eye will feel more heavy than my right.

I've tried pushing the crease in where the original crease used to be whether with a small tool or eyelid tape, but because my eyelid crease is small it would not stay. If I tried pushing it in, blinking would immediately revert it back to the tripple eyelid. The eyelid tapes were too big for my small crease so it felt more droopy than without it.

I was considering if I should really do some sort of surgery, but from what I've seen it's either lifting a certain muscle in the eyelid because it's too weak, or the client just wants double eyelids. However, I want to keep my original eyelids which I assume are monolids, but every photo I see post surgeries result in double eyelids.

Most people say they don't notice it until I tell them which is nice, but every time I look at the mirror or take a photo (especially at a high angle) I feel ugly or I feel uncanny/ scarry because the left looks more rigid than my right. Eye makeup makes it feel worse for me no matter how much I try to cover it up.

Any suggestions or ideas would be nice, but if there's nothing I can do then I just have to accept it.

(The camera doesn't show how creased it is compared to real life, but maybe that's because I just hate it that much)
