There's been a lot of feedback from the community about the flood of people asking what either an XJ/MJ they're looking at is worth or what they're selling is worth. Please post that here. Anywhere else on the subreddit will result in removal.

Leaf springs in the back are flattened out and almost ready to go inverted and I'm debating on between getting new stock leaf springs or going for a 3-in lift. Which one do you think would be better?. Not going on trails but I do live in appalachia and it's going to be my winter vehicle.

My AUDM XJ didn’t come with lights in the corner marker lights. Here in Australia they are just reflectors. See 1st photo
I have the correct replacement lenses but cant get the correct bulb holder fitting (?)
All the searches seem to take me to the same part number.
If anyone knows what it’s actually called or a part number for the correct bulb holder that would be awesome.
Much thanks

Hello All,
I'm thinking about replacing the engine in my XJ. It hardly makes any oil pressure and I suspect that it may have a cracked piston skirt or piston slap at the very least. It runs fine for now, but I used to like to take my jeep on road trips and now I don't have as much confidence in it as I used to. For years now I've been thinking about replacing the engine but I really think it needs to be done sooner rather than later.
A couple options I was pondering are:
Buying a used engine off of facebook or craigslist and freshening it up a little. Not a complete rebuild but changing somethings while it is out and accessible.
Buying a re manufactured long block. Initially seemed like the more expensive route but now not so much and it should save time. I would like to find a block that has a better head. I don't want to deal with the 0331 head again. Worst case scenario is I can re-use the clearwater head from my current motor. Another concern I had is I'm not sure which blocks I can use. I saw somewhere that if I use an older distributor block I'd have to rig up a mount for my coil rail? Are there any other concerns I should be aware of?
I do have the tools I need to do a swap, including the hoist, and a shop to do it in. Although I have never tackled a project that large before. Most mechanically involved thing I have done so far is a clutch replacement on a foxbody mustang. How long would a project like this take? My jeep is my daily driver although I do have a secondary vehicle in the meantime.

2000 XJ. Have a whistling sound sometimes that stops when I accelerate. Usually only happens first time it's driven that day. Just replaced my belt and tensioner pulley and it still happens from time to time. Any guesses?

Interested in adding a winch, a pair of KC Slimlite 6 which says it draws 12.7A on high, and Diode dynamics SSC1 fog lights (I’m not sure how to read electrical specs) say “Current (amps @12.8V): Main beam - 1.5A, Backlight - 0.025A”
Everything else stock halogen bulbs
And maybe potentially I want to upgrade to a nice double din head unit, with amps and a sub.
I am aware of the alternator upgrade options, and do plan on picking up whichever dodge v8 truck’s alternator it is that people upgrade to.
But I just want to know what other people are running without issue on the stock alternator before I have to drop the money on the upgrade. I definitely want foglights before the snow hits this winter.

I recently did a coolant flush and replaced my hoses and cap! It would appear I’m now losing coolant from the TOP of my coolant cap? It’s a brand new cap… no overheating issues. And an o-ring where it appears to be seeping from didn’t fix the issue. What gives? Anyone see this before?

Hi, I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0 AW4.
Jeep ran perfectly before being parked for 5 months. Now absolutely no crank, not even a click from the starter. Dash lights work.
Troubleshooting so far:
Battery fully charged: 12.9V.
No crank in Park or Neutral.
Tried 3 different starter relays. All click.
Relay terminal 30: 12.69V during START.
Terminal 86: 12.40V during START.
Terminal 85: Ground appears OK.
Terminal 87: 0V during START, relay installed.
Continuity confirmed between terminal 87 and starter solenoid trigger wire.
Starter main power cable has voltage.
Solenoid trigger wire: only 0.4V during START.
Immobilizer light turns off normally.
What could cause this? What should I test next?
Thanks!!

Hi, our 98 XJ lights are so dim it’s hard to drive at night. I am not a mechanically savvy individual and we also live in NYC so don’t have the space to work on the car myself/explore this issue. Anyone have experience dealing with resolving this or have a trusted mechanic who can help in the NY area?
Car runs great and we love it, just want it to be safe and last forever. Looking for any useful info on what this issue is called/what the fix would be so i can find someone who can help me get it fixed!

I’m reworking this sunroof that was sealed shut by the previous owner yet still leaking. I finished installing the roof to sunroof housing but now I can’t seem to figure out if this gasket should be attached directly to the window or to the housing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I replaced the steering box (brand new) about a year ago. What would cause this much play? 2000 XJ

Hi guys,
I took down the oil pan like 4 times now, thought first the oil leak came from the gasket but that did not solved it until I decided to change the rear main seal, and it stopped leaking for a week and now I got the oil drop again .
Do you have any recommendations at all for this? How to stop it?
I replaced the seal with the felpro one everyones recommends.

Xj started leaking down the tank this morning, I need to be able to drive it. I dropped the tank and took it apart, it was leaking around the retaining ring. The o ring looks really good, its a new tank and sending unit done a few months ago by the previous owner. There was dirt in the mating surfaces so I cleaned it and put everything back together and it is leaking less but its still leaking a little bit. Is there a better/specific gasket I can buy?
