R/cardinals Season Wrap Up
Good Tuesday morning fellow bird fans!
This is a very delayed post and, to be completely blunt, it is because I'm very burnt out and debated just stepping away completely. With that said, I am here so that we can have our, what will hopefully continue to be, annual state of the sub.
I few things before we get in to the true nuts and bolts of this post; we surpassed 100k members this season! With it no longer being displayed right on the sidebar, it definitely got overlooked but that is quite the achievement for a baseball subreddit. With that, we also garnered over 2 million more visits than we did the previous year with nearly double the posts and, roughly, a quarter more comments. Surprisingly, our highest amount of visitors came in the month of August and not March/April.
Now, the true point of the post is that I want to hear from you all about how you feel things are going, changes you feel we should discuss, and what we would all like to see moving forward. I feel this was a great transition year for our birds and fingers crossed that we get to watch our birds play again next year.

15 Years Ago Today: Game 6
Today is the 15th anniversary of what many Cardinals fans will tell you is the greatest baseball game of all time.
Where were you that day?
Here’s where I was:
- Freese’s 9th Inning Triple
- Berkman’s 10th Inning Single
- Freese’s 11th Inning Walk-Off Homer

Cardinals Payroll
Just wanted to share this and get your guys thoughts on this new data coming out regarding teams payroll and how cheap they are. Its supposed to take into account market size, cost of living, and revenue to make a chart.
https://youtu.be/PBuJ0iKEIWA?is=mgAzAq5VQQMkgZS3
In my opinion it can be used as a point of evidence for fans that have been saying for years that the Dewitts don't spend money.
It would also be interesting to see how this chart looks for teams over the past decade.
I also find it hilarious that this shows that the Cubs are the cheapest team in Baseball.

Chenoweth the likely new hitting coach per STL Sports Central
I read somewhere that if St. Louis promoted from within, then it was less likely that Brant Brown was let go for philosophical reasons, and was more let go to let someone more likely to be here longer term take the wheel.

Outsider here! Looking for a Cardinals fan who plays fantasy baseball
I am recruiting for a MLB-realistic 30T Salary Cap dynasty baseball league that is currently about halfway full. We are trying to fill the teams with owners who are fans of that team, and the Cardinals are one of our open teams right now. We use real player salaries and have a hard cap as well as a salary floor. It's super active and tons of fun, so I hope you consider joining us and repping the Cards! DM or comment below for more info.

What Happens After Two Teammates Have 100 RBIs But Team Finishes Under .500…
Having two (or more) players drive in 100 or more runs in a single season is typically a hallmark of a winning, playoff-caliber club. However, when run production is overwhelmed by poor pitching or a weak roster, even historic run generation results in a losing record. MLB history only has only a few examples of teams that have turned it around after this event happens, most likely because it’s harder to rebuild your pitching staff when they stink, compared to rebuilding a lineup.
Additionally, when a player captures an individual RBI title while playing for a sub-.500 team, the franchise typically falls into one of two categories over the subsequent two seasons:
1. A Fire Sale & Deep Rebuild: The franchise decides they cannot compensate for pitching or depth deficiencies, trades a star or two, and bottoms out.
2. A "One Year Away" Foundation: The star hitter serves as the offensive bedrock while young pitching arrives, catapulting the team into contention within two seasons.
After looking at previous instances of these scenarios there are almost zero examples of an immediate turnaround, but it makes sense when your pitching is horrendous and you need both vets and rookies to come in and gel, to catapult you into the playoff picture.

Baez prior jersey numbers?
Recently got this card with him in a #84 jersey. Also seen others like this sold too. From what I was able to gather reading online, he’s often worn #22 even before his MLB debut. I’m guessing the #84 may have been a once-off or limited timeframe thing at some point?

Guess this former Cardinal legend
At my kids baseball game, I look out and notice one of the coaches of the other team. Take a guess who it is :)
