Discussion What is missing in the current active wear fashion?

Title: What do you think is missing from activewear, fashion-wise?

Curious how people here feel about the fashion side of gym and training clothes. Are there brands getting it right for you, or do you still struggle to find things you actually want to wear?

I lift and run, and I care about how my gym clothes look and perform. I’m drawn to ASRV's proportions and Cole Buxton's oversized shapes. I’d love more classic cuts and interesting colour combinations that I’d also wear outside the gym.

A few things I’m curious about:

  • What’s your favourite piece of gymwear, and what makes it work for you?
  • What do you struggle to find?
  • Have you bought something that looked great but was frustrating to train in, or performed well but looked disappointing?
  • Which brands do you think are doing something different with the design?

For transparency, I’m exploring an idea for an activewear brand, so I’m interested in hearing experiences beyond my own. I'm equally curious whether you think the options are already great and nothing’s missing.

Discussion I never see anything good in the thrift stores

I visit my local Salvos, Vinnies etc but I almost never find anything worthwhile. Am I just unlucky, am I doing something wrong, or is there something deeper going on? Recently I saw this thread on /r/all and it made me realise perhaps the thrift stores are reserving their good donations for online sales. Are there special websites they sell the clothes on that I'm not aware of?

Question T shirt recommendations

I'm looking for a black, relatively thin (not the heavy weight) T-shirt. I wear the old kmart ones a lot but unfortunately they don't make them like they used to.

I want it to be versatile. Good for everything e.g gym, work, school.

FluxEdition Common Projects

Alright guys so i was just looking around and found this website: https://fluxeditionaustralia.com/collections/common-projects

Seems to have a decent collection of Common Projects at pretty crazy prices, seemingly no additional charges or extra shipping costs, but i cant find out much about this being legit or not, some AI and reddit sources have stated that it sells other items but im only seeing the Commons here. Anyways what do you guys think is it legit? If so happy shopping

Jeans / Brisbane

I need to update a couple of pairs of jeans so looking for some recommendations in Brisbane the have a decent range of denim.

I live in Levi 512’s but can’t find the dark navy wash colour I love anywhere. Similarly, my Calvin Klein skinny fit’s seem to be impossible to find.

Outside of the department stores I have no idea where to look these days so any help finding something similar would be appreciated thanks.

Don’t want to spend silly money so max $200-$250pp if possible

Question Cotton/Hemp/Bamboo shirts

I am usually skeptical of ordering things I see on instagram but after a pleasant experience with Ozzigear chairs I thought I might try again with tshirts. Anyone have experience with Gritwear or Undrdog shirts in Aus and how they go with heat and humidity as we go into summer? Bonus points if you can help with sizing. I’m usually an XL in Uniqlo so comparisons there would be great.

Question Which retailers do decent relaxed fit suits off rack?

Hello, moving to Melbourne from overseas to start a corporate job. Seems to be a mix of the RM & chino uniform and classic suits, so I think I can get away with a more relaxed cut which is my preference. Tragically, these can be harder to find on a budget without thrifting (which I will do as well) and I'm not too familiar with local retailers. So I'm wondering where I can look to grab something off the rack to then get tailored. Even a straighter / classic cut that doesn't insist on hugging the body like it's still 2015. Thanks.

3 Groomsmen and Myself - different states

Hi everyone,

Trying to get 3 groomsmen who live in Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane all measured and into the same suit.

Whats the recommendation here?
I’ve seen mixed reviews for INSTITCHU.

My thought is I go in somewhere that has physical locations in all three cities and pick what I want for them (hoping to get $700 or under for the groomsmen) and then they just go get measured.

I’m also looking to get my own suit (probably 2-2.5 budget) but doesn’t need to be at the same place. I’m based in Sydney.

Thanks for the help!

Advice Needed Good quality graphic t shirts?

I like t shirts made of the same fabric as the heavyweight culture king's shirts, my main problem is I can't find shirts for plus sized dudes that have nice tight neck sections they always stretch or show too much skin for my liking.

American Apparel tees?

My socials are flooded with American apparel, but the example online vary in quite differently in fit/ cut although they are the same type/style of tee. Some are fitted nicely whilst others are boxy or very big.

Has anyone purchased anything recently?

Advice Needed High waisted pants off the rack

Good morning Aussie well dressed men.

I’m struggling to find a store where you can actually physically try on higher waisted pants, with side adjusters in lieu of belt loops. I have seen so many options online but with mixed reviews on responsiveness, quality etc I’m wary to try them.

Has anyone had any success with online or in store purchases for this kind of pants? (Think European summer, French Riviera with a light shirt kind of style)

Thanks!

Thoughts on this new style of contrast stitch tees?

A year ago I decided I wanted to design my own brand based in Sydney Australia, and have just launched our first collection of these contrast stitching tees. The first one is a white tee with mint green twin needle stitch and the second one is a navy and cream contrast tee. The style of our tees are twin needle stitching contrasted around base and sleeves, and a single contrast stitch around the collar. Our neck tags also carry on the same theme. We have already made some sales, but I’d love to get peoples opinions on the design or the brand, and also get some more exposure too!

The Instagram handle is @sandoonaus (this is best for product photos as I can’t attach images here) and the website is sandoonclothing.com is the website.

In search of best fitting & high quality T shirt in Australia

Hi all,

I am sure this topic has been asked and discussed a million times in this subreddit but I need to ask yet again.

What is the best fitting T shirt that we can get in Australia?

I am about 5'10, 67kg. I have wide shoulders but small waist.
Not overly muscular but I go to the gym and am fit.

I want something that feels comfy and light, fits nicely around the shoulders with the sleeve nicely hugging the arms without being too tight. Not too long and not too wide on the waist. A nicely sewn neckline that is not too restricting or too high. Something that looks nicely made that can possibly be dressed up and worn with a nice jacket or suit.

I understand that this is a lot to ask for lol.

Here are a few that I have tried, I always get size medium:

  1. Wayver - this is my go to for awhile, they fit nicely around the shoulders and arms.
However, I found that recently the quality has gone down a bit, some are a bit too thin and some are a bit too tight even though theyre the same size and also found the neck line a makes it looks cheap sometimes? 7/10

  2. Australian Stitch - I love the quality of the material, however, the neck line is way too high and because of it, it does not create a nice silhouette. The arms are pretty good but I feel the waist is just a tad too wide. I know the material is good but sometimes it looks like an undershirt instead. 6/10

  3. Uniqlo - Too boxy, unflattering silhouette. The material is okay, nothing special at all. 4/10

  4. Country Road - nice materials, somewhat pricey for what it is. The sillhouete is a bit too baggy for my liking. 5/10.

Can I get recommendation and feedback of brands that may suit what I am looking for? Preferrably Australian made but if highly recommended, happy to look for overseas brand.

From what I can recall, usually AS Colour, MrSimple, IloveUgly, whitesville and a few others get recommended here as well. I've also keen to try the custom made Citizen Wolf shirt but their neckline looks really thin? I'd like to hear thoughts from those who have gotten t shirt from them.

Happy to give your recommendation a try. Cheers lads
